Hotel 42 had a boutiquey feel, yet simple and no fuss. Rooms were basic and clean. Location near the Broadway Triangle in South Williamsburg was very walkable to the more gentrified part of Williamsburg and the river. Also close to Grand and Union, which felt like a different neighborhood. Subway station a few blocks away. Always felt safe but I'm a city girl and very comfortable in urban environments. Would recommend staying here if you didn't want rates like the Commodore, Hoxton or Wythe, for example.

Unfortunately my experience at 42 Hotel left much to be desired. There were a few glaring issues that will make me not want to return, namely the inconsistency. The positives were staff who were pretty accommodating and friendly when it came to addressing issues. Thank you Miguel and Jonathan. Otherwise there were concerns. 1. Security deposit I have never had to pay a security deposit for a hotel stay. We had to pay $200, we were refunded but still odd. 2. Room key issues and elevator access I had family members also stay at the hotel while my husband and I did. Their room key stopped working several times and they got locked out. 3. Safety and security You do not need a room key to get on the elevator and go to different floors in the hotel. People who are not guests can hop on and use it. 4. Rooms While the rooms look nice online-ours was missing body wash/ soap, lacked enough towels compared to my family members rooms, there was patched up water damage on the bathroom ceiling, and something that looked like moldy old up on shower head and an odd coffee maker with pods that didn’t fit. 5. Food This was really strange. We weee told the hours for dinner, when down stairs and there wasn’t even a staff member present in the restaurant. We went to the front desk and were told the chef was later but never came. The next morning we wanted breakfast before check out and again no one was there….until we complained and in 15 minutes someone appeared.

Extremely accommodating only thing, when I asked for new sheets and towels they didn’t remake the bedding or hang new the towels, I had to do it myself.

Really enjoyed our brief stay here. Staff were so incredibly friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed Vlad in the bar, really friendly and made us feel so welcomed. Room was very clean and comfortable. Plenty of street parking, too, so that was a superbly added bonus!

Trains in short distance from hotel. Small exercise room but in good condition. Enjoyed our stay.

great location in Brooklyn. next to the subway. ample parking too for your car. VERY friendly and helpful staff. Bed super comfy. I do wish the room had been a little bigger. But for Brooklyn, I think it was great.

There was an alarm right outside of the hotel that would beep every 5 seconds nonstop. Couldn’t fall asleep both nights of my stay…

The immediate neighbourhood seems a little unsafe but that isnt in contol of the hotel. Walk 10-20 min towards broadway or Marcu and the neighbourhood is excellent. I would stay again.

The sheets in the original room were dirty. After going back to the room with a cleaning supervisor they gave me another room. The in hotel bar and restaurant were both closed the entire time.

This was a property I would for sure stay at again. The staff were pleasant , it was street larking all around the property. I was a walkable area and easy checkin . The rooms were gorgeous and spacious . Not much of a skyline view but the gorgeous room makes up for that . Ive stayed at many nyc hotel's , this one was great .

Last minute plans close to where I was visting the price wasnt to bad for a over night will for sure be back

It was a super quick stay due to a cancelled flight, wouldn’t have found this hotel without Expedia so super helpful. Clean and comfortable while being luxurious was so welcoming after spending the day at JFK waiting for a flight that was eventually cancelled. Miguel at the front desk was super friendly and helpful! Even had a toothbrush for me!

Really modern decor and pleasing to the eye. A little bit shabby/rough around the edges, this took away some of the pleasure. Really close to the subway stop. And walkable to the "G" (which was closed for refurb).

I like the overall decor of the property and it’s theming.

I had specifically chose this hotel because there was a restaurant on site for breakfast. The morning of my stay I was told that the restaurant was closed saying that work needed to be done in the kitchen. I wish I was told that when I checked in. Also the elevator was not working that morning. They should at least have offered free coffee/beverages. The nearest coffee shop was a block away.

It was perfectly nestled in a neighborhood close to the subway line, plenty of coffee shops and restaurants, and very walkable. Excellent staff made us feel at home. The rooms were fresh, clean and cozy.
