My overall stay was good. The staff was great and the room service was indeed better than my last visit. However, finding a roach in my room was not the best experience. A friend had to come and remove it from my room as I was very upset considering the cost of my stay. I was a bit uncomfortable for the remainder of the weekend and did not want to keep any of my bags on the floor. Nothing remained open as I did not want to chance bringing anything back to my home. This is always my preferred hotel when I travel to Hampton, so this was disappointing.

Upon arrival at the hotel our first experience was the painfully slow experience with the elevators. One of the two was not functioning, something that was not posted, and no alternates were available (the stairs were for fire exit only). Upon making it to our room we discovered that a previous occupant had smoked in the non smoking room on the non smoking floor. The front desk quickly moved us to another room that was in a better state of odor. While the room was very nice at a 6ft distance, upon close inspection much of the fit and finish seemed very rough. The cleanliness was fine, but it was things like light switches that did nothing, and bathroom finishes that seemed incomplete or of questionable quality. Had a nice stay, there were just several things that prevented this from being a 5 star stay.

Bed. Doors to bathroom would not fully close and kept opening. And faucet in shower was very loose, took forever to get temperature correct and to get it to stray without turning too cold or too hot. Great potential, room just needs some tlc.

Customer service is excellent. We frequent this location often as our child is a student at Hampton University which is in walking distance. That’s honestly the selling point, the convenience. The rooms could be upgraded. I often smell moister/mold in the rooms which I’m sure is common considering their right on the water. The hotel amenities are nice and the food is good down at the bar! Again we frequent this location for convenience, as many other families do. If they weren’t so close to the campus, I would probably explore other options in the area.

The A/C starts and stops super loud all night. Just loud loud loud. Then water started ppuring out of the ceiling in the shower in the middle of the night randomly. I dont indeestand why this stay was just horrible. OTHER than that. Room and hotel was very nice. I liked the decor and my room view. The hair soap was also very nice and not low quality it felt like.

You gave us a room with a nice view which we appreciated. The room was cozy but the floor was sticky (maybe because of the cleaning stuff you use?) and made an annoying sound when we walked around. Also, there were so much dust and white particles (people's dead skin?) around the mattress on the bed's bottom frame. We suggest using different floor cleaners and vacuuming that part of the bed frame every time.

The parking garage seemed to be a hang out spot after the 3rd floor, didn’t feel safe where we had to park on the 6th floor with the groups hanging out.

We stayed 2 nights here, and everything went well. Staff were friendly and responsive! Nicely decorated hotel. Rooms looked as pictured. A few minor things - lobby was packed well into the nights; pretty loud in the lobby and second floor due to swimming pool party; our sink was clogged, and shampoo and conditioner dispensers weren't working. Lastly, we had the breakfast package, and it closed early due to a private party. Were rushed to finish or take it to go. Other than this, it was a pleasant stay.

The registration process was slow, and the front desk instructions regarding parking were unclear. Additionally, the cleanliness of the room was disappointing. I stayed in a double queen room and, despite only using one bed, I thoroughly inspected it due to concerns about the cleanliness of the bedding. To my dismay, I discovered a large yellow stain on the bed topper. This was extremely unsanitary and made me question which bed to use. Unfortunately, I ended up using the bed with the stain.
The bathroom, while visually appealing, also had issues. I was unable to control the water temperature; the water was consistently too hot despite adjusting the faucet. As someone with eczema, I had to cut my shower short to avoid irritation from the hot water.
Overall, I cannot recommend this place. While I might tolerate subpar water temperatures, the state of the bedding is unacceptable.

When i got there my room was changed from a king to a queen without me knowing. When we got in the room the a/c was not working. Also we were not informed that there was a party at the pool and our room was right at the pool area. Only 2 of the 3 elevators were working and they took forever.

There was a strong smell of sewage upon checking into the hotel. The front desk staff had trouble checking us in, we had 3 rooms reserved, 305, 307, and 309, yet they checked us into an additional room 213? Not sure whether we'll be charged for the 3 rooms, or 4? This place is very run down and in need of some repairs!

The hotel was short staffed, so I was given the option to go down and request towels each day and have no cleaning service for the week. Only one out of the 5-days stay were there no face towels available. The bar was understaffed, and the poor bartender was so overwelled and about to cry one evening that she had to step outside to gather herself. The kitchen was understaffed most of the week so the food was about a 45 min wait (great taste by the way and we were in no rush so the wait was fine but alot of customers were very unhappy which played a part in the bartender being overwelmed) and then one morning of the 5 days stay the kitchen was closed due to staff shortage. But even with that the restaurant next door and the boat tour was a good time filler and tasty! If you come to sleep, it's great! I do want to say you can hear everything in the hallway and through the walls. I mean E-very-thing, every moan/groan and smack from the rooms & as you walk down the hallway (I was just glad i didn't have kids staying with me)

Definitely pay for the location here and not the actual experience of the hotel. Room was a beautiful view however was not very clean at all. The vents in the room was full of dust like as if it has not been dusted the entire year. Had to exchange rooms because first room the bed sheets looked stained. The fresh towels still had hair in them and the walls in the room, dirty. If this hotel was cleaner it would possibly be worth the price but sadly did not experience a clean stay.

The hotel is in a great location, central to attractions, eating, and shopping in the area. We had an issue with air conditioning and a leaky toilet in the room on our first night - the hotel staff eventually moved us to another room, but not without a fair amount of effort on our part to ensure it happened. The rooms were mostly clean, but corners and details were dusty and neglected.
We had a room that overlooked the adjacent marina. The view was great, but not worth the hefty price tag. I do not believe we will be staying here again. There are other much more reasonably priced properties that would provide the same experience.

I should’ve saved my money. The original room I reserved had to be switched because within 30 minutes of being in there realized that some of the lamps weren’t working, toilet was broken and the telephone was out of service. The new room that I ended up in also had no working phone, janky shower and it took almost 5 min for the water to get somewhat warm. I paid for a non smoking floor that ended up smelling like weed throughout the floor. I thought breakfast and parking would be included, it wasn’t. staffing is clearly there just for a paycheck. The in-house restaurant had a limited menu with piss poor quality food that caused me to throw up mid way through my dinner. Avoid the burnt ends Mac and cheese meal. Money would’ve been better spent at a red roof inn or a super 8 motel.

The hallways smelled of smoked, the elevator was extremely dirty, there was something falling from the air vent in my room. I was unable to enter my room because clear tape was covering the card reader at the door, the attendant gave me a new room and stated she would write this in her nightly report. The Hilton brand should be ashamed of this property! The staff members are great, the property is in a great location but the hotel is a mess. Also, they charge for parking at a free parking lot! It’s a mess!

My bathroom had a towel holder that was falling off the wall and you could see the sheetrock was tearing. The place just needed a little TLC from a maintenance crew. The check in, the staff, the communication from the front desk via text message.... all of that was on point and great. Service was great, cleanliness was good. The only thing that I noticed was that the actual hotel property just needed a little more maintenance TLC given to it. If I go back to Hampton VA, I would choose to stay at the same hotel again. I would recommend as well.

The room was DISGUSTING. Hair and dust everywhere, remnants of what looked like bugs on linens and bathroom vanity. Even the front desk was filthy with dead flies and a layer of dust on the computers. Creepy looking patrons walking around, did not feel we would be safe waling around at night. There was no key needed to use the elevator, so we suspected night time would be a nightmare in the hallways. There was a "foam party" at the pool, foam was pouring over the roof of the hotel onto street below, staining our car. Why was there a gigantic bouncer at the pool entrance with a wand scanning people?! Hotel stunk of weed. Parking garage was sketchy at best, and we were charged to park yet the garage was completely open for anyone to enter/exit for free. We felt very unsafe on the property. We requested a refund immediately after checking in and moved to a different hotel.

The rooms are great but for a family (the hotel itself) may not be the best option. The bar area was booming. Loud music and individuals partying till late. Parking sucked because its $12 and the entire 1st floor smelled like weed.

We loved the location. It was located near my Alma mater. I loved waking up to the beautiful views. However, I did not find that the hotel was the right fit for my family. I felt it was conducive for young adults. I did not like the club on the second floor. I did not like room service. My room was partially cleaned the first day. My room was not cleaned at all the second. Though one staff member tried to correct the issue. Another staff member dismissed our issue and stated he only controls what is happening on his shift.
When I was a student at Hampton university, I wanted to stay at this hotel. I’ve always wanted the opportunity. However, after this, I do not think I want to return to this hotel ever again.
