I had an ocean view Room booked , my view was blocked by trees, also, they do not inform you about need for reservation for dinner if you prefer not to do buffet again, other restaurants are open just one at a night… even though was empty on a Tuesday night, lady didn’t allow add in for dinner, the instructions for dinner reservation are also incorrect, they say a one hour window at the reception, the reception says another time at one of the closed restaurants, you go there as can’t be made over the phone, then person en charged is in another place… Dinner at italian was just ok, the medium steak comes very well done, red wine was exchanged for beer as not very good….almost went to buffet after the “special” Italian dinner. There’s also a new area with new buildings with separate dining space, some employees were genuinely nice, others were fake nice… overall was good to go and probably would not go back…

It way a last minute trip. Would never stay again. Rooms DIRTY GROSS. you got 2 towels each day in late afternoon. Needed one just to clean the floors Location is it’s only asset

This hotel had an obvious distinction on a more comfortable and better side of rooms in the same building. One side is obvious what you pay for as is the cheaper side of the building, even the doors and paint of the hallways are different. My room I’m assuming was on the bad side, it looked like a cheap motel room and the bathroom the same. Hopefully the better looking half is indeed better. Some of the stuff are just not as attentive and accommodating as some of the other hotels I went to.

The action is not good

Beautiful place just not well maintained! You can see signs of water/mold on walls and bathrooms are old and dirty.Also pools are not the cleanest. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Food was good but drinks not so good since they use cheapest of liquor and juices were horrible. Best part of all was the beach and views.

Balcony was dirty, and had to wait online to eat.

Called stated toilet would not flush waited 5 hour's for someone to fix it, mold on the ceiling, roaches in the bathroom, liquor and drinks dont taste good , no room service, no liquor for mini bar , Food is good

The hotel is super old. One of our beds had a wheel missing. It was prompt on a wooden block to keep it up. We reported it to the Receptionist personally. They proceeded to take a photo of the picture I had on my phone and said they would report it. This was on the first night..No one came to fix it. Also there were small cockroaches in our bedroom. Gym needs new equipment. Food had limited options. Not worth the price.

Deteriorated bathrooms, slow toilets/bathtub, worn out/broken towels. Some personnel were rude especially to children. One of the worst ones I’ve been to in puerto plata. The only nice thing was the ocean view and the reef with the mini pools by the reef.

One of the worst resort that i ever been i got a room with a broken mirror i ask for a upgrade and pay the difference to a better room and when we went to change gor the night i found roaches all over and crawling on my luggage so i decided to leave the resort in the morning

Our room was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and a beautiful ocean’s view. I highly recommend! Nuestro dormitorio estaba decorado hermoso con flores frescas y la vista al mar es hermosa. Recomiendo hospedarse en Casa Marina.

The hotel needs to be updated. The sheets were dirty when called to changed it took 3 calls and walking to the front desk demanding clean sheets or a new room because one of the beds couldn’t be used, all that took over an hour with waiting. The curtains were dirty. Room had a weird smell. One slow stream coming out of sink, we asked for someone to fix it, we couldn’t wash our hands. We got back to the room the sink was fixed but our bathroom floor was filled with water. They fixed it and didn’t clean up after themselves. The pictures definitely need to be updated false advertising! The food was not it.

Our stay was pleasant and we had a good time, the staff were awesome nice people, willing to serve and with a smile on their faces, always giving us solutions since the check in, security, bell boy, receptionist all of them were exceptional, really hard working people. The food is great, a lot variety and well cooked. The property itself needs more care, general maintenance of the buildings and shareable areas, like when you are exiting the lobby after your check in, there is at water wall that’s really dirty, and the entrance of main restaurant El Batey the water ways also are pretty dirty and needs to be clean it looks disgusting especially in the place where you eat most of your meals. The show at night was great really good performances, really good. In general we had a good time. And this is for the administration, this is an iconic place in DR and one of the first in Puerto Plata when the tourism industry started here many years ago, you should take more care of a place like this, and you are supposed to know what I’m talking about. Thanks.

We left Sosua By the Sea for better amenities, so we went from $67/night to $167/night and when we got to the room the patio door handle was broken and door was jammed so you can’t slide it and go out to the balcony. We had to call 3 different times throughout the day before someone actually came in to fix it. Then the air conditioning became an issue. It would randomly stop working, and the room would overheat. Again 3 different calls over 1.5 days before someone showed up. He said he fixed it but we never did get air conditioning. This with 94° weather outside. Another thing: as we are doing mission trips in Haitian villages we had requested lunch boxes to be prepared. Sosua By the Sea does that seamlessly and they are ready at the front desk every day before you even ask for them. Casa Marina said they were going to provide the same service, instead when we showed up at the Buffet as requested, no one knew anything about to-go boxes, and it took three people and 45 minutes of back-and-forth before they told me that no boxes were available. Then we had to escalate to the supervisor, and finally the boxes appeared. We ended up filling the boxes up from the breakfast buffet. Sosua by the sea actually makes you lunch boxes with lunch food in them. All in all, if we were to come back to the same place, we would much rather go back to Sosua by the Sea, although they have fewer amenities the amenities they do have our up, running and maintained better service.

Location was great, the room 2118 was a dump, smell awful, no hot water, squeaky loose bed, everything looks like 40 years old, the safe box was totally rusted out, two bath towels, no wash rags or face towels, tv didn't work, $135.00 per night then he upcharge us additional $30.00 to change rooms to #725 only difference it smells better, no hot water, beds was a bit better. Then the worst happened breakfast next morning they had the audacity to tell us we sat in the VIP AREAS to eat breakfast.. this place is for folks that never left home that don't know what to expect staying in a motel... don't do it its a dump...

SPA was very good, well priced. Beautifull beach and you can see sun set and rise. I enjoyed it.

Great people at this resort. Room had a smell to it in both room. Water pressure for the shower could have been better. Food was great Needs to upgrade somethings

My bathroom was full of bugs, someone went to clean it but just put a chemical in there that left a bad smell and lots of dead bugs. Room Was outdated and not a huge selection for the buffet.But the Staff were are very nice and waiters in the buffet were very attentive to our needs. Received a massage at the spa, the ladies were all very sweet and professional. We did have a good time just the resort needs some TLC.

I enjoyed my stay, the property is well kept. The staff is courteous and super friendly. I did not like the limited food options, i think if this is fixed the hotel would be an excellent vacation option.

Worst place ever if you are going with your kids.

The people at the front desk was very attentive and nice. However, the room I was in, the toilet wasn’t flushing and the bathtub wasn’t draining. The lifesaver by the pool was really annoying and had a nasty attitude because they wouldn’t allow kids at the big pool even if they are with their parents. The previous day we were in the pool and the lifeguard didn’t say anything cause according to him the pool was empty so there was no need for the kids to come out. This just shows negligence and I was very disappointed. Also, the food was not great and it was hard to find something that I really liked.
