Great location in Split next to the Riva. It was convenient to get out and explore. The rooms were super clean, but you could tell it’s an older property. The bathroom doors did not close from the wood having swelled with moisture, and it was hard to open it to get inside. The bathroom smelled terribly and was very small.

Great location, all the tours I went on were within 5 minutes walk and in the old town.
With windows shut I had no issues with sound at night. Friendly staff.
The taxi can't drop you off right outside the hotel and is a short walk. There is no lift so you can be climbing a few level of stair. For me this was fine; but for others it maybe something they want to consider.

We have stayed at Kastel 1700 before. Its location is amazing right on the Riva with good sea views. The staff are extremely helpful, kind and friendly and speak very good English. It is a comfortable hotel, with all modern facilities built into the walls of the old city around Diocletian's Palace. The breakfast is also very good. I would recommend Kastel 1700.

This is an excellent hotel right in the middle of everything. The location could not be beat: few steps from Split Riva, 2-3 minutes walk from the port and from the bus stop, right within Diocletian Palace and other historical places in Split. Plenty of dining and shopping choices within few steps from the hotel. I found the hotel to be very clean. Breakfast buffet was excellent!
It is important to point out that this hotel is located in one of the historical houses in Split, so there is no elevator. In addition, there are two flights of stairs to get to the entrance. These two flights of stars are made of old stone so, very slippery if it is raining.So, definitively not a good option for the seniors unless you are very fit and get a room in the first two floors.
The room was small, but it had a view of the ocean and the Riva. Very clean, nice bathroom. There was a minibar and I thought the prices were acceptable.
One suggestion to the owners: Could you please, include in your coffee selection instant nespresso without sugar or milk? Many people do not take sugar in their coffee and many have milk intolerance.

The Hotel Kaštel 1700 was in a perfect location for exploring Split, adjacent to Diocletian’s Palace and a two minute walk from the Split Riva. It’s also a 10 minute walk from the ferry port which was convenient.
The room was comfortable with plenty of room for two people to be comfortable in a twin room. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, providing a city map and useful information on the best options for exploring Split. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel on my next visit to Split.

Great location close the restaurants and wharf for tours. Staff were fabulous and very obliging. We were given early access to breakfast because of early your departure and the transfer they arranged were very efficient. Highly recommend

Excellent location! The hotel does not have a lift for suitcases and there are not always able bodied persons to take them up the stairs. Guests should be aware of this as not all travellers are physically capable of taking their luggage up and down four flights of stairs.

I had one more night in Split after my week of sailing around the Croatian islands. This is a charming boutique hotel in the heart of the Palace. Be prepared for a 1/4 mile walk or so rolling your luggage as cars are not allowed in the city center. And be sure to wear ‘proper shoes’ as the steps up to the hotel are centuries old and polished slick! Very clean, very nice and comfortable. Also be prepared for a lot of noise until the sidewalk cafes and bars close at midnight.

Amazing view over the Split Riva and harbor. The windows were able to block out the late night restaurant sounds on the Riva. Spacious room, compared to other EU hotel rooms. Problems with AC and the mini fridge were taken care of rapidly. Breakfast was plentiful and a good variety, although the breakfast room is small. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Lots of stairs but no elevator.

The staff here could not have been friendlier or done more for us. Always on hand and asking if we needed anything. One small complaint would be the bed was too soft but seems to be normal for most hotels now to have soft mattress. Location was fabulous - 4 min walk to most places we wanted and only 10 to bus station. Would book here again.

The Staff was super friendly and very accommodating. The problem was that they did not have the facilities nor the infrastructure to work with. Firstly, we had trouble finding the entrance as it is behind the hotel in an alley way surrounded by trash cans and dead rodents. The picture in Expedia is extremely deceiving. The ocean front Split area has a disgusting sewage odor that my wife, daughter and I could barely put up with. The restaurants close around 5pm and sometimes earlier that the stated online times "if they choose to do so". The room itself was crooked. My wife and I actually propped pillows underneath ourselves as we felt as though we were going to roll out of bed. I know that sounds ridiculous and we have never encountered this before throughout visiting almost 100 countries but it is true about our room here.

I give this place about a 2.5 star rating. I will start with the positive - the location is excellent and the staff were wonderful. I also liked the private parking space. However I could not get past several issues we experienced. The first was with the air conditioning. It was only in the upper 70s while we were there but yet the air conditioning struggled to keep the room cool. It ended up being sufficient, but never great and when we tried to turn it down more it would freeze and not really work at all. The second issue we had was we had to keep the bathroom door shut at all times to avoid the sewer smell that leaked from there at random times. It was never a constant smell, but it was unbearable when it did smell like that. The third issue was that the wifi would randomly not work. It got to the point where it was unusable for hours at a time with either an extremely poor speed or just drop entirely. Pay a little more and stay somewhere else in Old Town.

The location of the hotel is great if you want to right in the thick of it. It's also on the waterfront promenade so ideal for accessing the ferries and boat excursions by foot. Entrance is a bit shabby as it's at the back of the building but didn't really present an issue. It is a bit hard to find but if you follow the instructions provided you won't have an issue. Check in was friendly and efficient and we had help with our bags up the stairs from the street. We had a good sized room for three of us but the bathroom was the size of a postage stamp which would have been more frustrating if we were staying for more than the two nights. Our room was opposite reception which was convenient but a bit noisy at night when other guests returned. Surprisingly noise from the street wasn't an issue which was good.
I wouldn't necessarily call this a "boutique" hotel, its fairly traditional but it is clean and tidy and very comfortable.
