Dated rooms, not the cleanest, and not the friendliest of staff to book in or for breakfast, morning staff on reception were friendly though

Firstly the property is advertised with parking. There is no parking available! Only booked the hotel as parking was promised

Darren & Kat were great! Not bad for a 300 yr old building! Great people & service. No elevator! Good pub.

No problem until 10.30,the bar shut but to be honest,the poor guy that run the bar was a one man band. He did the bar and he and his wife did breakfast,so I forgive him for his grumpy face.

Arrived at just after 8 on a Friday night after a long drive to be told the kitchen had already closed, so we resorted to eating takeaway on the bed from a nearby restaurant. Bathroom was built into the room and so ventilation wasn't great. Considering we paid £20 more than a superior room at a nearby Hilton was, it wasn't worth the extra money. Location-wise it's great, parking situation wasn't clear so we opted for a P&D car park at a nearby train station Coleford itself is lovely, five minutes drive to Puzzlewood and Monmouth was only a bit further.

Room was comfort and warm clean nice bed staff so friendly food excellent best from booking .com i have had yet the price comparrisson to other places is second to none by far underated loved my stay and will be going back thank you to staff at the angel for making it such a pleasurable stay and see u soon

Great location….great breakfast great staff really enjoyed Coleford and an outstanding craft beer pub called the Dog House around the corner

The owners of the Angel are lovely hosts who were very friendly and made sure everything was as you wanted it. Lovely breakfast and evening meal.

No car park. No WELCOME at all. It was as if we were bothering them to stay. Bedroom very clean and bed comfortable. Bathroom okay. Breakfast good. Value for money 7 out of 10. Won’t stay there again.

Fabulous warm room with 4 poster bed. Breakfast superb and bar area very nice. Will certainly go back to the Angel on my next visit to Coleford.

Well what a little gem this place is. Its not a swanky hotel by any means but if your after an honest home made food and a decent nights sleep, then you are at the right place. The landlady and her partner, were very friendly and could not do more for you.

We were late arriving but they kept the kitchen ope for 15 mins extra so we could have evening meal. Lovely four poster bed in a nice bright room. Bar was closing early as not busy, but lovely little ale bar The Dog House opposite. Great beers! Lovely breakfast in morning.

The hotel room was clean, the bed was comfortable. No one was on reception, think the bar was manned. Wi-Fi did not let me log in at all.

The room was large with a comfortable bed and the hotel was very pleasant. However breakfast was not good, had to fill in a sheet by 9pm the previous day for all items. Was not impressed by the food, bacon sandwich was very thick bread with very little bacon. Scrambled egg was overdone and sausage was not nice. Would be happy to stay here again BUT without breakfast.

Staff very nice 😊,food was very good,room was all right.The down side was that at night it was very noisy in the street outside our window and bad language.

Not very welcoming team, the room is just disgustingly dirty, mould on the ceiling of the bathroom and the tiles joints are full of mould. the room has certainly not seen a vacuum cleaner for ages. There's NO EXCUSE for such dirt. A pity as it could be a nice place, but it's a NO GO in these conditions

Really friendly staff, good breakfast

Room was comfortable and surprisingly quiet. Shower took a long time to drain, which inadvertently encouraged less water usage, and the bathroom door didn’t close properly, but these were minor inconveniences. Also, the car parking facilities are a bit misleading as there are none on site - there are disabled spaces across the road and a free car park around the corner, opposite the police station. Breakfast was good and, despite having to state our requirements the previous evening, staff were very accommodating of changes. There have been negative comments about the hotel on various sites, but these tend to relate to the bar and nightclub, neither of which we used, were physically separated from the hotel accommodation, and didn’t affect us at all.

Welcoming country town hotel. Plumbing interesting, we had the fiercest shower!

Friendly staff and good food. The room needs some repairs/refurbishment as the floor boards are really noisy. Breakfast starts at 8:00am with no takeaway option if you need it earlier.

We had a very pleasant stay at The Angel. The service of all staff was outstanding and attentive. We were attending a wedding at a nearby venue and the staff made a special effort for our rooms to be available in advance of the normal check in time. The property is clearly quite old with some lovely original features. Despite the age, the property was very clean throughout.

I've stayed at this hotel a number of times before and, as on this occasion, always found the welcome warm and the rooms comfortable. The room was tastefully decorated and the bed very comfortable. The shower was the winning feature being very powerful. A minor criticism is that the rooms are looking slightly tired but not enough to detract from my stay. The breakfast was excellent with a good range to choose from and freshly prepared to order.
