Where do we begin. Well this was probably one of the worse experiences of a hotel stay we have had. We had a two night stay booked as working in nearby Hastings. We left on the second night at midnight following an attack and disturbance outside the hotel then within the hotel which left us fearing for our safety. The owners were unable to secure the hotel and the front door was forced open and then a number of people were rampaging through the corridors shouting abuse and threatening to burn the hotel down. The police arrived on the scene and once our exit was secured we left immediately. We have been refunded by the owners for the night and do feel that security needs addressing as a matter of urgency. There are obviously a lot of issues within that community. It is only a matter of time before this happens again and someone is seriously hurt It was half term and there were a lot of families staying in the area, although we saw no other guests in this very large hotel. Our room had access to a balcony where the window was not secure and the wooden door to the room was very old and not in good condition. The room was clean but the hotel advertises a bar, restaurant and guest lounge none of which were available to us. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone and will be avoiding the area at all costs. The hotel owners have a responsibility to ensure the safety of guests and accommodation that offers comfort and allows then to get sleep none of which we had.

Standard really. I was allowed to check in a few minutes early, which was great. However the only real downside was having to hand in my keys every time I left the building. Thought this was a bit unnecessary and was told when I came back in the night, if the door was locked, to knock, there was no bell?! Anyway I wasn’t back that late, so it didn’t affect me but it would have been a worry if I had have been. Staff were helpful but a little restrained and one or two didn’t return courtesies, which I put down to maybe cultural differences.

Great location. Entire building extremely rundown. Wall-to-wall carpet from anceitn times, etc, but you get what you pay for (it was the cheapest option in Eastbourne these dates...). Bathroom was, however, completely refurbished and a hot shower with good water pressure! A Terrace/balcony, being shared with some 10 other room, in desperate need of maintenance. Helpful staff.

What a horrible stay, lucky only for one night.
The room is big, but the mattress is old, dirty and no support, sat on the bed you just sank to the base. Duvet cover is ok but the Duvet itself is lumpy and filthy and the pillows are the same. Once I saw them I decided not to use .
Shower is like tears, it takes ages to wash off soap , by the way no shampoo and shower gel only a small soap.

Very last minute for somewhere to lay head. Very cheap. Twin room sea view. Plus points sea view in morning doors onto balcony. Clean white towels and sheets Clean bathroom. Bad points. Very very tired hotel. Both in communal areas and rooms. No restaurant just bar area. Wouldnt reccommend if you want more than 2 star

My stay at Glastonbury was Good.
Inexpensive compared to MANY other Eastbourne hotels.
An aged hotel , but in a very easy access situation , and superb view to wake to each morning.
Traffics a bit noisy , but CANT be avoided , the main stretch road into town.
Will be BETTER when or if they develop the restaurant.
EXCELLENT DAY MANAGER , name Josep.
Portoguese man. Very good Natured.
Compliments this person.
Mr F. Greer , age 91.

This property has the feel of a hostel rather than than a hotel.
Old room, broken furniture and bed. not a pleasant experience. Sheets and towels were clean, but very thin and of low quality.

Room did not smell fresh & clean. Road noise due to lack of double glazing. Mattress lumpy.

Absolutely awful. I know you get what you pay for but should still be liveable. Whole place smells of cigarettes/damp/BO. Glad it was late spring so had window open all the time. Needs a serious re-furb. Walls and decor marked, cracked and dated. Furniture is all falling apart. Bed so uncomfortable hardly slept. Avoid line the plague. No idea where the higher ratings came from. Unbelievable!

On arrival was asked for £500 for our room we had already booked at £314 we where told it was an up grade which we didn't ask for. On showing our booking it was accepted our colleagues who arrived 5 mins later had a similar experience the rooms where clean and comfortable sea view however there was a piece of soap in shower door track when we arrived and was there when we left even though our room had been cleaned as they had left the bottle of cleaner on the sink

Hotel itself is dated with corridors dark and in need to decoration.
Rooms themselves were comfortable although desk service left a lot to be decided.
Tried to charge more than website booking and also tried to put my colleague and myself in a family room when we had booked 2 single rooms. Response was “we have upgraded you”

I like Glastonbury Hotel. It has potential. Staff are friendly most of the time. It is clean. It is NOT a hotell for guests with high expectations. The rooms are good. Location is excellent. Some members of staff stand out. Arzu from Turkey is my good friend now. Very service minded.I never tried food there as my breakfast was not included. The bar was a little old style, but with good quality. I recemmend Glastonbury Hotel.

We had a good week at Eastbourne and were comfortable at the Glastonbury. The hotel was in need of an update but in saying that our sea view room was clean. Water pressure was lacking on the 3rd floor, so the toilet fill up was very slow and the shower was hot but not very powerful. The hotel is slightly overpriced for the facilities available but its seafront position does compensate somewhat for this. We wouldn't rule out returning to the Glastonbury but would initially look for a more modern seafront stay.

My room was recently renovated, with new bed and a new 3 piece washroom (ensuite). Comfortable.

We stayed here to attend a local function. Checked in no problem. The old fashioned elevator was just about working and requires a swing door and a slide gate to open, not easy with luggage. Our room on the third floor was small and with basic furnishings but clean. Air con was very good and so was the sea view. The bathroom had a shower which was weak and temperate. There was no food available and a limited bar. Generally felt a bit dilapidated but served it's purpose.

It was clean and the staff were very nice. I very like the location. I enjoy my stay. Thank you.

Hotel was grubby and in need of work. Location superb but the room was poor. Sheets and towels clean but no pillow protectors . No clothes hangers in wardrobe and TV didn't work . Only stayed one night so not too bothered re TV.

Elevator is an experience in itself. Need to water outdoor flowers a bit more and sweep outside space more often

Great value for money.

Room was a bit disappointing walls so thin it was as though the person next door and above was in my room. I accept that these have been challenging times for hoteliers and I understand that they are improving the rooms but my experience apart from all the friendly wonderful staff unless I could guarantee a better room for now I would not stay again.

Pros:
In a good sea-front location meters from the beach and Malikasif and Joe on reception were friendly.
Cons:
Hotel is dated inside, smelly corridors, old and dodgy room locks that just about work.
Appalling and unacceptable level of cleanliness, especially for post-Covid times - room was dirty and grimey - dirt and pieces of litter on the floor, dusty and sometimes sticky surfaces, long hairs and dirt in bathtub. Was told by reception staff that there was nothing they could do as the hotel was fully booked. They did share a pack of anti-bac wipes for me to clean the room myself.
My room had no shower, only a bathtub, without a mixer tap. No hot water, only trickling warm water - extremely difficult to bathe in!
Room door was knocked on out of the blue by staff after midnight to ask if I had hot water!
Not recommended unless you don't care about hygiene and cleanliness.

Hotel was easy to find and parking was okay as it was a weekend so off-site parking was free.
Staff were friendly on arrival and checkin was smooth. We had slight confusion with our rooms as we made 2 separate bookings and wanted to merge it so we didn’t need to switch rooms, and after messaging and speaking to the hotel, merging the two bookings to one room wasn’t possible.
The condition of the hotel is where it’s let down, the corridors on my floor had a unpleasant sewage-like smell, which we spent plenty of time in as navigating the hotel to our room wasn’t exactly easy. A labyrinth of directions on the wall, mini stair cases on each side of the floor and doors to pass through while holding all the luggage made me notice it even more.
The rooms themselves seemed pleasant, we had a beautiful view of the beach but little by little we started discovering issues like holes in the wall due to door knobs hits, cracked/ broken windows, damp appearing wallpaper and again the smell from the corridors diffused into the room.
My honest view is for the price I paid, I have stayed in much better hotels and I wouldn’t go back
