Our stay was very smooth and nice. The rooms and interior design are simple and beautiful. Yes, it's quick white wash paint but still has a cool feel. One of the main guys, Vit, was very helpful and kind, and we loved that he has surf boards for rent.. Some rooms have private bathrooms so just make sure you reserve the one you want. We did the cheaper shared bath option and all was great. Also we really enjoyed working in the living room and on balcony. Had strong and steady wifi. Would definable stay again. Thanks Vit and team!
The only concern that people may have staying here is that it is right next to the metro so it makes a fair bit of sound but I didn't hear it running late in the night. Also, the community kitchen area was still under construction while we were there but there are a ton of cafes and restaurants as well as a grocery store on the corner

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The best location in Matosinhos, close to the tram station, from which you can get directly to the center of Porto. 10 minutes walk to the beach.

Location
Kitchen is a construction site. No utensils, glasses, anything. Cheap mattress. Toilet seat broken. Open cables in the bathroom. Shower literally unusable. No staff present and didn’t answer phone calls. Should be 40 Euros a night, not 75.

The location is great for a beach vacation.
A "new" listing for an old property. Slapping a coat of paint on a dilapidated/under renovation building and incorrectly adding amenities to room types is a surefire way to get a poor rating. This is not a hotel but a hostel masquerading as one. If you go in knowing this, that's fine, but the per night charge for sharing a bathroom with seven other rooms and sleeping on pallets is wildly overpriced. Several room types included an ensuite bathroom as an option, but only the "apartments" actually have this feature. No kitchen access (so no availability for a hot water kettle even for tea/coffee or breakfast) for any rooms.
"Balcony" is shared with two other rooms and the window doors kind of, but do not really lock. Super sketchy and felt really unsafe for solo female travelers. This site did not address this safety concern when it was messaged to them.

During the first night of my stay, it was raining heavily and water was running down the walls of my room. After I've talked to the staff reporting the issue, the owner called me, offering to have me change to a different room, waive the rate for the first night and lower the rate for the remaining nights (I got the money back from the first night; the remaining nights were still charged at the original price).
Prior to my stay, I tried to contact Casa Scandic several times over the phone to clarify some details about my stay - my calls weren't answered for three days, after which their phone number seemed to be disconnected; I only managed to talk to someone at Casa Scandic when I was already travelling to Matosinhos.
Csaa Scandic is an old building that has been given some cosmetic treatment (a patchy thin coat of paint on the walls, which does not hide the yellow damp stains), but no apparent work has been done on the building's structure or services.
It was raining heavily during my first night there and water was running down the bedisde wall of my room, soaking part of the bed - the owner, over the phone, excused herself saying the problem had to do with the neighbouring building, which is strange, to say the least, as that building's roof is at a lower level than the floor of Casa Scandic where my room was.
The flooring and doors are likely the same for some decades. Some room doors feature a glass pannel that is simply painted over. The rooms have no insulation nor soundproofing (neither from the street - noise from the early metro can easily wake you up) nor between rooms (it was impossible to ignore someone snoring in the room next to mine).
There are no private bathrooms (opposite to what was stated on Booking - a factor that influenced my decision to choose Casa Scandic over another nearby lodging); instead, there's a shared bathroom per floor. Some bathroom appliances seem to be new but water pressure was an issue when showering. The second floor bath shower curtain was not big enough for the bath size.
There was no breakfast service available: the bar area was under work/renovation (something you'd have to overlook if you'd want to spend some time at the lounge, as the work area and materials were not even covered up).

The kindest and loveliest hosts, we had the most amazing week surfing and chilling at the beach. They lent us the surfboards which was very cool:) We really like the style of casa scandic and it is very relaxing so we enjoyed it. Always clean and if you need anything they will provide it or help you in any possible way, which is really nice:) great location from the metro, to the beach and to go eat in restaurants.

Location was very convenient: close to the beach and easy to get to central Porto by metro. The place has potential, but just wasn't finished yet.
The shared space pictured online was not accessible. No facilities other than bedroom and a shared bathroom, not even a possibility to get or make a cup of coffee/tea. A lot of noise from passing metro's day and night.

The place is absolutely amazing. It is located in the city centre. Owners are really friendly and they always help you if you need. They are constantly improving rooms and shared spaces.

It was easy and simple, super clean, very close to the metro station and to the beach/port. Is surrounded by a great offer of restaurants, supermarket, etc. Has sufficient parking nearby, if required.
Being close to the metro comes with the price of having the noise (surface metro) - but it's bearable. Some noise came from upstairs, wasn't clear if this was also part of the BNB, but the 'neighbours' also stopped before sleepy time.
