I almost got bit by their dogs. Who keeps a pitbull at a hotel? Their kids were all over the place, shouting at night and in the morning. The room smelled really wierd. There was no food in the area. I didn’t complete my stay and I left to find another hotel to stay at. I will not stay at this place ever again.

Negative: two bigs welcoming you at the door of which one doesn’t listen to commands to stop or sit at all. The breakfast only consists of bread with jam

I loved this property! The hostess named Amina went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. Amina was willing to bring us to local shops and marche. She negotiated prices with the vendors so that we weren’t overcharged. She also made sure we had transportation arranged to and from the airport.
The location of the property was perfect: less than a 10 mins walk to the beach where I was able to be with locals and buy fresh grilled fish from the morning catch; restaurants, bars, pharmacy, baby store, grocery stores, fresh fruit/veggie street vendors are all within less than 5 mins from the property; the property is in the Ngor region and very conveniently located for local buses, taxis, and Yango.
The owner of the property was also welcoming and caring.
The property itself had a beautiful suite with local decor, air conditioner and fan; 2 private balconies; mini fridge; tv; couch
The property is located one street back from the Main Street, but you would never know because the property is so peaceful and full of vegetation; it feels like an oasis in the middle of the city.
If you are looking for a big fancy hotel with all the amenities, then this is not the spot for you. This hotel is more family oriented, has traditional/local furniture, cuisine, and beautiful art pieces.

I wanted to stay a Saturday Night in Dakar to Party a bit. So I booked Villa Malaka. The location is very good in my opinion, you can walk within 5-10 minutes to Ngor beach or when you need a Taxi you can just go 1 minute down the street until you reach the Main Street at Restaurant Katja. To get to Almedies the taxi needs just a few minutes. My room was clean and the Bathroom and shower was to share with other guests. The only think I didn’t liked, was that their was no Aircondition in my room. The breakfast was ok and the stuff very friendly. This guest house is definitely not to compare with a Hotel, but when you like it easy or not that classy, than Villa Malaka could be an option.
