It was pretty barebones and worn-down rooms. It’s in a busy noisy street, luckily the dorms are a bit in the lee and clean inside. Shared bathrooms outside were dirty. Matrasses felt worn down and not comfy. Very affordable but I absolutely dreaded that location. For a short stay it’s doable, but I didn’t really get a good night of sleep.

Magnums is in a great location, right in the heart of Airlie Beach. It has a large bar and nightclub attached to it too. The shared shower and toilet facilities are also pleasant. However, we woke up on our first morning with our bed covered in hundreds of ants, as well as a number of woodlice and small cockroaches in the room. Unfortunately, all of the rooms were fully booked so we could not change to a different room - reception did provide some bug spray, which killed most of the insects but there will still a few crawling around the following morning. 3 stars as the location and price were very good, but of course let down by the insects!

Really enjoyed our stay, it’s a well designed site with all the necessary facilities, and staff were friendly and helpful, especially when I wasn’t feeling well when we arrived! We had the private cabin with kitchenette and it was clean, comfortable and surprisingly very quiet given the bar on the side of the hostel. My only tiny suggestion for improvement would be to provide a laundry airer, to dry clothes which can’t go in the tumble dryers on site.

Magnum’s has great self contained cottages Behind the backpackers accommodation. It’s quiet and pretty, easy access to Woolworths. Right in the middle of Airlie shopping centre, minutes from all the shops, cafes,transport and the lagoon.

Big property close by to anything. You can hear pretty much anything, too. You'll definitely need earplugs because the walls are as thin as paper.

Nice grounds and close to everything. Very noisy - both with the pub/nightclub next door and the thin walls - room next to the shared bathroom. Fridge made noise all night and froze everything in it. Bed was glorified bunk bed. I know it is a hostel, but room should have cost a lot less for what it was - for a single room (not a share room) - it is clearly all really cheaply built and kept, and for the fact that this is a tiny room with shared bathroom, no sink, one powerpoint that worked, one tiny window and really noisy. Was way too expensive - could have got a proper hotel room with a bathroom for the same price.

Great stay and the staff were fantastic, loved the location and really appreciated that my room was available early. Found the pub attached odd that the band play when the rugby is on then stop at half time but that was probably because I was there to watch the game.

The staff at Magnums were very understanding when we slept past check out. Clean facilities set amongst a beautiful garden setting and easy on the pocket.
