A very special place on the quiet side of Penida, literally a sanctuary. Staff go above and beyond to make your stay the best it possibly can be. We loved the swim up bar, having breakfast on our villa balcony listening to the waves and watching the sunrise, having relaxing baths with a view & the delicious dinners in the restaurant. We were so sad to leave & only hope we get the chance to visit again some day :)

30 minutes from Sampalan Port and you feel like you’re in another world. Close to atuh and diamond beach. Only 45 to the more touristy side of the island if that is your vibe. Pool is beautiful and the room is dreamy! Good food at the restaurant and bar. The team is what made it special, especially Made Werdi! He was kind, remembered our names and our orders and is an interesting man. In his free time, he learned to scuba and is working for a non profit to replant the reefs! The only thing we would change is that we booked a few more nights here.

The resorts is brand new (only opened 8 weeks ago) and it is absolutely stunning. The restaurant and pool area is so peaceful and wherever you go in the resort you can hear the sound of the waves on the beach.
There are only 10 rooms at the resort so it is never busy.
The staff are always cheerful, attentive and helpful and the hospitality was incredible.
The bar tender mixed us bespoke cocktails when we asked and was very knowledgeable.
The rooms are stunning, with balconies overlooking the ocean. The view from the bath and the bathroom in particular are beautiful, but the open air toilet takes some getting used to!
The breakfast menu is varied and delicious - the best we have had in Bali!
As the resort is new, there are a couple of teething problems -the restaurant ran out of many food options (almost all desserts) while we were there. With regards to the menu, we would have preferred more local cuisine options rather than a westernised menu - that being said, all the food was delicious!
Finally, the location is far from the ports and tourist traps. This may be inconvenient if you wish to travel arond the island a lot (about an hours drive to the port), HOWEVER the location makes it incredible tranquil, secluded and private.
We absolutely loved our stay at Semaya and will definitely return next time we are in Indonesia.

One of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed at, fully renovated rooms and facilities. Pick up and drop off service were great and we rented a scooter at the hotel to visit Penida.
Lots of options for breakfast and their massages are amazing.
Service overall was great and the staff is very friendly
