Excellent staff and great location to visit George Washington University

Bathroom was a bit outdated but some may find it attractive (old fashioned)

Hotel was good with excellent location. Room was small and the kitchenette area was spacious but a little odd. The stainless steel counter with sink and mini fridge looks like something that would be in a jail or prison area. Didn’t match at all. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Overall, hotel was good and I would stay again if in the area.

Went to the bar for a glass of wine or two. While sitting at the bar, I noticed quite a few gnats or fruit flies all over the place. Bartender didn’t seem phased by them at all but there’s clearly a problem

Manager does not have good control of details or quality control, and when this is noted, she was defensive and suggested I move to another hotel. Good advice; I did after the first night. These were the problems that drove me away: Bitten 4 times in the restaurant by mosquitos during expensive dinner. Food and service was excellent, so this was a shame. Bugs have easy access through un- air-conditioned lobby through nearby restaurant door. In the room, T.V. and coffee maker didn't work. Manager said: " we depend on guests telling us what's wrong to fix it." This is defensive and reactive. Staff cleans room but doesn't check equipment. 8n addition, bathtub Fawcett are wobbly, and tamp bulb fixtures were dangling out of sockets. The room has a tub and a sink, but only one small bar of soap you have to move back and forth. Poor room amenities: very cheap, small shampoo and conditioner, no bottled water for coffee maker, which was broken anyway. Basic feel is old and worn out.

This is an historic hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue at the edge of George Washington University, within walking distance of the National Mall and well served by busses and underground rail. Given the building’s age, it seems to have been solidly built and it was quiet, with large rooms. The bed was comfortable with decent furniture in the rest of the suite. The air conditioning worked quietly and well. The staff was friendly and helpful and their restaurant was very good.

The quality of the rooms and furnishings was good, but not luxurious (but we were not charged luxury prices either). If one were wheelchair-dependent, a hotel of this vintage would be a serious challenge, as far as I could see. Only the rooms at the front of the hotel would have anything like a view.

Fantastic hotel! Room was nice size and had a little separate kitchen area with a 2 seater dining nook, a sink, a refrigerator, counter space- what a nice bonus! It also had a separate vanity table outside the bathroom- with its own little nook! Felt like a little apartment. Staff was wonderful. Great location!

Pay for parking at outside garage. On-site it is $52 per day. TV is basic cable.

The hotel was beautiful. Such character!! Great location to see the local sites too

One of the best hotels we stayed in. The service was exceptional and the location was perfect for us.

Really unique decor and set up..big room and very comfortable. Good value for money. Near many eating places and not too far from metro
