Most everything was ok. The breakfast was uninspiring; the coffee was not very good.
Difficult to say how the place could have been improved. It simply gave off a strange vibe.

Staff was amazing, location amazing. Rooms are old but so is all of Fredericksburg. Would stay here again.

The staff were really friendly and helpful.
Our room was a good size.
The location was perfect for all we wanted to do in Fredericksburg, and there was parking.
A selection available at breakfast.
The aircon is operated centrally, and we found that we woke in the night quite warm.
There was no lid to the toilet in our bathroom.

The room was quite warm.

Clean and historic feeling. Beautiful front desk area, friendly staff who actually answered the phone, and minimal noise from neighbors through the wall.

A little different than you average overnight hotel. A old mill building turned into a hotel maybe not for everybody but fun. Great location walkable to downtown Fredricksberg which has some great restaurants and night life.

Old, quite interesting and well maintained.
Nothing.

location
needs a little update. Above the AC unit you could see outside.

The "breakfast" was clearly below par. Otherwise a pleasant stay.

Beautiful Historic property, reasonably priced in a great location.

Room was 90 degrees on a hot day, with no ability to adjust temperature in the room. Windows were difficult to manage (no sash weights). Also, the smoke detector was chirping every 60 seconds because of low battery.

The exterior looks like a typical motel, but when you step in, the decor is historic, and impressive. The person we checked in with was very helpful, and she took time to explain the history of this property as an old silk mill. She also upgraded our room without extra charge, and it was very kind of her. The location is convenient, and it's in walking distance to many historical attractions and restaurants.
The breakfast was simple continental. We requested an upstairs room, and could manage with our luggage. But there is no elevator. The room doesn't have a coffee maker, but it has a small refrigerator.

noisy!
old.

It was clear from the beginning of the booking process, to the check-in, and throughout the stay that the Olde Silk Inn staff was there to make our stay something special. And the property itself, with it's unique settting and antique furnishings, added to the charm and mystique. You can always stay at a simple average hotel, but when visiting an historic city like Fredericksburg do yourself a favor and stay at an Inn that is truly reflective of the Town's history. You will not be disappointed.

The breakfast and availability of coffee doesn't start until 0800. For those of us traveling for work, that is too late. I was looking forward to some options but had to go out to breakfast elsewhere.
I get it, the building is old. The common areas are worn and the carpeting appears dirty. The whole building has a strange smell. The ceiling in the bathroom is falling down, and the bath fan and lights didn't work. The plumbing didn't work, and it was hard to get hot water to the room. Flushing the toilet was a gamble.

was old and charming
one of the rooms had ants but we were moved.
wanted a better breakfast. I know it was continental but maybe pastries or bagels or blueberry muffins.

Great location and very nice and helpful staff. Room was interesting
The Double bed has a footboard which makes sleeping for a 6' person difficult. Also, the bed creaked with every move. Breakfast wasn't much and should be available before 8

This is such a lovely place, the outside doesn't do justice to the gorgeous interior. We were greeted warmly and made to feel very welcome while there. Our room was spacious and clean. The breakfast is simple continental and self service but has all you need. Location is superb, an easy walk to downtown Fredericksburg with all its little shops and cafés, and within even easier reach there are restaurants and bars. The Red Dragon Brewery is worth a visit!
The only things we didn't like so much were the very creaky bed and the hot water taking over 10 minutes to heat for a shower. You are warned about the water and it's due to the age of the pipes so nothing can be done about that though. Minor points in an otherwise fabulous place.

An absolutely lovely privately owned hotel, oozing with colonial style charm. Very comfortable beds. Ample parking.

The staff was extremely professional and friendly.
The Inn is an old building and the room I had smelled. The mattress and pillows were very uncomfortable.
