My friend and I had a five-star experience at Ekain hosted by Carmel. The apartment was as advertised. It was extra clean and spacious. Carmel was a perfect hostess who made us feel that our convenience, wellbeing and enjoyment were her top priority! She happily provided help to us in a foreign city with which we were unfamiliar and whose language we do not speak. Carmel and Ekain are the absolute best.

Gentillesse de l’hôte: Carmel. Propreté. Très bien fourni en literie, vaisselle et chaudrons. Kit de départ: lait, café, 1 bouteille de vin ! Immense salle de bain.
Difficile d’y avoir accès pour déposer les valises.

Lovely, clean and well furnished apartment in a fantastic location immediately adjacent to Plaza Nueva. Although we were only there for a short stay and chose to eat out, the kitchen appeared to be very well equipped with everything you might need. The bathroom is spacious with a great shower and the two bedrooms very comfortable with hanging space, shelves, bedside tables and enough plug sockets (not always the case in period apartments). Our host was wonderfully welcoming and helpful which made our stay all the more enjoyable and enabled us to feel we really got the most out of our time in Bilbao.

Very welcoming and friendly host offering a lot of advice on restaurants/bars, activities etc. Apartment spacious and very well equipped. Location perfect for exploring the Casco Viejo.
One of the two bedrooms doesn't have a window which may be relevant in very warm summer nights (but the living room does, so easy to solve by leaving the door between both rooms open if needed).

The apartment has many nice details. The bed is exceptionally soft, and the pillows are as well. I had the best sleeps of my entire trip. The bathroom is spacious, with a very nice shower. Great pressure.
There is a covered interior air shaft with three long clotheslines. Even though it was raining, clothes and towels dried completely overnight. The kitchen is fully equipped with new appliances, including a clothes washer. Carmel generously left a supply of Nespresso pods, milk, and wine for us as well.
I would definitely come back.
Probably being so close to Plaza Nueva made us a little lazy about dining. We could have ventured further away and had better food, I think.

I can only agree with all the positive reviews, an extremely clean, spacious and charming flat in a dream location with an exceptionally accommodating hostess. Check out authenic pinxos at Gure Toki, two meters around the corner.

The host was very friendly and helpful. Location in the old town is great. Apartment comfortable and well furnished. We were there during a very busy fiesta period, even so noiseproofing kept sound under control.

When we went in early June the weather wasn't that hot. It is possible that, with no air conditioning, it might get warm later in the summer.

Perfect location next to Plaza Nueva, yet completely quiet inside. Host could not have been more thoughtful in terms of helpfulness and in thinking of every needed detail. Lovely large bathroom and big fully equipped kitchen. Everything spotlessly clean. Could not have been better. Hope to return.

A very nice, well equipped appt, in an excellent central position. Near many good bars and restaurants.
Being right in the old town the appt did suffer from some street noise on busy evenings
