Where shall I start? Entryway was on an alley, walk up some dark steps — and I was given wrong entry code and wrong phone number to contact host. Thankfully, VRBO was able to find a code to get me in the door. Garage door opener was not in drawer as I was told so we had to park on the street. No key to lock the door. A/C was not as expected - just a tiny unit in living area, not big enough to air condition the bedrooms or rest of the place. Ceiling fan in bedroom was broken, so the room with bunk beds was sweltering hot. Electrical outlets without covers. Bathtub/shower door was broken (there should have been 2, but just one), and fell on my daughter’s foot, cutting her foot. No garbage can in kitchen. No chairs to sit at the kinda/sorta table — we did find folding chairs in one closet but only when we were checking out. No dish towels. One tiny sponge. One dull knife. All the fruits and veggies in refrigerator froze. Only half the burners worked on stove. We found one TV (out of 4) that worked. Only thing going for this place was location, which was ok. The owner said he’d give me a partial refund, but when I asked about it again, he ghosted me. NOT worth the money.

This is a nice place in a good location, but there were so many negatives that contributed to our experience that overshadowed our stay.
WiFi: The WiFi was not working for the duration of our stay. We tried the network and password on both sets of instructions, but neither connected. We could not connect our tablets, computers, or the TVs that are advertised in each room. The TVs were there but were completely useless without internet. The main TV was not connected to anything, and the TV remote did not have batteries, which seemed to indicate there was a known issue with the TV not being able to connect. One of our phones would connect sporadically but the phones for most of the people in our group would not connect at all. I contacted the owner through the VRBO message system (as requested) and received a response that he would look into the problem. After no response I called the emergency phone number, which was answered by an assistant. She informed me the owner was going to call the internet service provider once he was done driving somewhere. After a few hours I left another message on VRBO and the owner responded, and stated that someone would be out to fix the internet the next day. That was a complete lie. No one came to fix the internet, and when I messaged the owner on VRBO and called and texted the emergency line I got no response.
Towels: This property is advertised as being able to accommodate 9 people. Our reservation was for 6, so our expectation was that there would be enough towels for 6 people. This was not the case. There were not enough bath towels, and only two hand towels and two washcloths.
Beds: This was a two bedroom apartment, with two pull-out couches. One bedroom has a bunk bed that is twin size on the top and full size on the bottom. The full size bed is a thin futon mattress over a metal bar frame, so when you lie on the futon you can feel the metal bars through the bottom. The mattress on the living room pullout was so uneven if you rolled over you might roll completely off the edge of the bed.
I contacted the owner prior to leaving this review to give him a chance to make it right but I was completely ghosted. I can't recommend this property.

The home was clean but bunk beds were too uncomfortable to use. Awkward layout and many open electric concerns with exposed wires.

I originally tried to book this “house”, as it was advertised, but was rejected because the owner said that he had mistakenly advertised the wrong price, then jacked up the price up SIGNIFICANTLY for one night, then told me to resubmit with the egregiously raised new price instead of giving me the price that HE advertised. I was running out of rental options to book a going away event for a friend, so I felt compelled to book it. Then when we got there, the house was not a house at all, as he had advertised it in the description, but an upstairs apartment with adjoining thin walls, which is exactly what I wasn’t looking for as it was a Thursday night rental for a handful of friends, and I didn’t want any noise issues. We ended up getting the cops called on us for a noise complaint for our meager group, but thankfully, we were not cited a ticket. The owner even visually misrepresented the rental by taking a picture of the front apartment, which looks like a house, and advertising it as the upstairs rental that he sold me. I even conversed with him, thinking it was still a house before we arrived there, and asked if it had a front or back yard, and or fire pit, things I would expect that a house might have, but in all of my correspondence, he never mentioned that it was an apartment. Just simply that it “doesn’t have those things, but that there are parks near by.” I, along with my friends who stayed there, feel duped and swindled. I will be investigating a way to get at least a portion of the money back that I paid for a one night stay under false and purposefully misrepresented pretenses. I have used HomeAway for several trips to different destinations, and this is my first really bad experience.
