Pleasant location

The access with various different codes to have to put in, you had to get out of your car in the rain, does not work for a single person - I was not advised that the river had broken its banks which meant access was 15 minutes out of the way- there and back, had I been advised. I would have found alternative accommodation as I was there for a conference which meant getting back between events made this a challenge. Together with this and 3 different codes with access to key pads where you had to get out of your car to access key pads caused me frustration, I had expected rusks as advertised but was told when asked supplier had not delivered and owners had not purchased rusks in town, which would have been easy to do, that added to my annoyance. Would be a perfect place for a family a romantic getaway to go too or a yoga retreat. For me not ideal for a conference but others will love it.

Everything, the bath tub outside , to the hammock, fresh morning air, loved the smell your fynbos products. I felt completely rejuvenated. The staff where friendly, it had beautiful touches.

So beautiful! So much attention to detail and so much space, very stylish yet sensitive to the environment, we loved it!

We stayed for two nights. The property was very close to Franschhoek. It was quiet and relaxing. There was a wonderful outdoor shower and bath. We ended up leaving some books behind and our hosts very kindly offered to mail the books back us. For that we were very grateful.

There was a problem with the WIFI so we effectively had no WIFI for the duration of our stay. The outdoor shower and bath had no working hot water so we couldn’t use it which was a pity. The sliding door linking the bedroom to the outside veranda has no key, so we couldn’t use it, which again was a pity.

Beautiful rustic cottages in a lovely setting close to Franschhoek.

The double room cottage, was a cosy haven from the cold and rainy winter day. The little fire place kept us warm and the fresh bread, butter, eggs, hot chocolate and milk was such a wonderful surprise. Thanks! Even the extra outside bath was an experience in the rain. Loved the chickens visiting us in the morning. Would def love to come visit again in the summer.

The sound travels easily through the walls/cottages and we could hear our neighbours conversations

there should maybe be hypo allergenic bedding. down fethers are nice but if you have an allergy, it gets n bit tricky

Loved the location, peace and quiet and the feeling of calm. Nice touch of complimentary fresh bread, eggs and some kombucha. Real farm experience and literally 'in' nature.

stunning location to get away from the hustle with extended family. Plenty of space. Beautiful surrounds. Enjoyed the use of the fire pit both nights. staff very helpful with luggage and queries.

Access - car required to cross a shallow river. Ubers are reluctant and if they don’t cancel, they need the detailed instructions how to find you. Thin roofs, you hear every animal scampering around or branch scraping it like a drum.

Stunning location with beautiful views, gardens and facilities. Very quiet and peaceful and the perfect setting for a getaway while still being close enough to Franschhoek. I appreciated the eco friendly and off grid approach that is followed at The Farmstead. Thank you for a lovely stay. Highly recommended.

If you have a low rise vehicle that cannot clear the low water bridge you have to access from another gate along a dirt road which then takes quite some time to get to The Farmstead. We were told about this beforehand but were not quite prepared, so maybe just check before booking so that you can take the additional travel time into account.

Wonderful large house perfect for a large family stay. Lovely garden and views. Good position to enjoy Franschhoek. Enjoyed the use of the pool and my daughter took part in a yoga class in the morning.

Stunning setting! Even though we were unfortunate with the weather, still had incredible views over the surrounding mountains, and the property is very well designed. The staff are great, and there was a lovely welcome hamper on arrival.

There were no negatives with the property itself. (Guests should just be aware that there is a road that goes through a river to get to the property (depth 20-30cm), and so this would be unsuitable for some cars to drive through - indeed most Uber drivers will not attempt to cross this, so you may end up having to cross this yourself barefoot - though this was all part of the experience, and only another 50m to walk to the farmstead! Additionally many Uber drivers will be reluctant to come pick up from the property in the first place given it is off the main road (though I understand there is a backroad suitable for lower vehicles which is a long detour). Ensure that you either have a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get there, or your transfer is 4 wheel drive - the host kindly provided details for drivers. Ideally I would bring my own 4 wheel drive rental next time I come back).

Nice property, good location, wonderful fresh flowers everywhere. Nice design. Yoga on site.

No fan in second bedroom which is absolutely necessary in summer. Cottages are connected and not soundproof. All comms via what’s app, feels all a bit impersonal. No comfi couch in or outside. Pool not clean. Families with small kids.
