Perfect for a family vacation surrounded by nature in a quiet country home with lots of amenities and space to spread out. Our stay included relaxing days of pool side fun, dips in the hot tub, ventures to nearby hikes, stargazing and bird watching. Air hockey, table shuffleboard, games & puzzles provided welcome rainy day distractions. Peter and Lara are friendly, responsive hosts, readily available to answer all questions and requests.

Peter and Lara were wonderful and responsive hosts. The house and property were beautiful. Perfect for our two families, one with teens and one with toddlers. We enjoyed the salt water pool everyday and warmed up in the hot tub in the evenings.

My husband and I and our 2 adult children, their spouses and 4 children ages 7, 5, 3 1/2 and 3 all stayed in the house. We had a great time. The secluded setting in the mountains and nestled in trees was just lovely. The house accommodated us very well and had a good amount of room for 8 of the 10 of us to sleep and lots of space to hang and play. We all loved the hot tub and pool with ample pool 'toys'! The fire pit and separate seating was perfect for our kid - and adult - s'mores feast. The large deck with gas grill was ideal for our dinners as well as our morning coffee! Our grandkids even said of the house, "we love this". There is good Wifi inside the house and a TV that had streaming channels for all ages! There are lots of hikes and well as small Catskill towns for groceries, meals out and delicious ice cream in Phoenicia. The owner Peter was easy to communicate with from beginning to end and was consistently responsive. I highly recommend this mountain chalet for a family or group of friends for a fun time!

The house was perfect for us and our two small children. The hot tub and sauna are both amazing. Close to a few restaurants and skiing. Peter and Lara are wonderful host.

Great place to stay to get into nature. Feels like a lil sanctuary in the woods. Plenty of space for 8 people with the 4 bedrooms. The firewood stoves made it really special. Will definitely be returning.

Lovely place in an beautiful part of the Catskills. I booked this somewhat last minute for a long weekend (our prior plans had fallen through) but was excited to find a place with a heated pool still open. Sadly, the weather didn't really cooperate for use of the pool, but the hot tub was a perfect stand-in. Maybe we'll be back this winter as my daughter really wants to learn to snowboard and the proximity to Hunter would be ideal. My only regret was not being able to bring our 2 cats along. I generally look for places in the summer in the Catskills for 4-6 weeks and bringing them along is a must. But for a long weekend, not an absolute requirement. And I get that most owners are skeptical of cats being well behaved (even if ours actually are).

Lara and Peter were great hosts and very kind. The house and pool were exactly as listed and have everything you may need including firewood, roku tv, and tons of floats for the pool. The pool is very well maintained and was heated up when necessary. Great location and easy travel to grocery stores, kaaterskill falls, Phoenicia, and other local attractions. A couple things could use minor updating but for us, it was exactly what we wanted.

Had a wonderful time! The House is very well stocked with anything you need for a get away in the woods. Highly highly recommend!

The pictures do not do this house justice. We were a group of 7 friends in our 30s-40s celebrating my babymoon. We had a fantastic time. Peter built the home in the 80s and has installed beautiful sinks and appliances to make this home one of a kind. The pool is large, has lots of floaties and pool games and is surrounded by a beautiful canopy of trees (that magically don't block out the sun during the day). We spent most of our time sunbathing in and around the pool. There is no AC, but it was cool enough at night that it wasn't a problem for us. Also there is limited hot water, so space out your showers (the upstairs shower with a waterfall showerhead and 5 other jets is AMAZING!!! I would go back just for this shower). It's also 20-35 minutes from so much! Phoenicia, Hunter, Katterskill falls, Peekamoose blue hole, Woodstock were all a short drive away. Peter was very responsive. I would definitely recommend this house and plan on returning next year!

Great escape from the city. Location was close to Hunter giving us a lot of options for activities. Wish there were more fans but overall a good experience. The pool is huge!

The house has all the amenities you would need for a stay. Peter was available to answer all my questions but otherwise let us be. The house is not air conditioned but there were fans in every room. You may want to bring an extra fan or two. The pool was big and the kids had a great time. My biggest complaint was that the umbrella to the table on the outdoor deck was broken and never replaced. It was quite warm all week and it would have been nice to have some shade as we sat outside frequently. Overall, what you’d expect from the pictures.

The property had all we were looking for. Peaceful, secluded, pool, and hot tub. Peter is an excellent host.

Our group had a great time, and would highly recommend this house! The house was clean and the perfect amount of space for 4 couples. Reasonable distance/drive to Hunter Mountain for skiing. Lara & Peter were super communicative and accommodating. The hot tub was clean, and we had two beautiful & clear nights for stargazing. Really liked the game room, especially the shuffleboard table. Would highly recommend!

Our 3 generations of family had a lovely winter holiday here. The house is cozy and charming with absolutely stunning views of the surrounding hills. The hot tub on the deck was a favorite place to take in the view. We appreciated the ample supply of firewood for the central wood-burning stove. (But know that the house also has central heat if preferred.) It's a literal 10 min drive to Hunter Mountain, which made for a few easy days of skiing. Peter and his wife were lovely, available and very helpful and accommodating. We would love to come back!

We were looking for a family getaway and this house was perfect. The setup is very nice for up to 8 people (we were 6 and a baby) and the large pool was outstanding. The owners are nearby in an adjacent house and were very attentive to ensuring everything was going well. We would definitely return for a future stay.

We all enjoyed our stay ! We enjoyed all that the chalet had to offer . Great fire pit and warm pool. . Very rustic and cosy setting tucked away on top of a hill. Beautiful views of the mountains and incredible star gazing . Central location to activities and restaurants . Very nice hosts .

We had a good time at the chalet. We are city people. Although it is understood we were in the woods, we were still used to more cleanliness in a cabin/chalet. Be prepared for cobweb everywhere, ants and bugs on the inside. The pictures on the site are a true depiction of the place so you are not misled. Definitely think the place overall would benefit from some renovation and adding comfortable beds would be a plus! It does get pretty hot and given the fact there’s no Acs more fans would be great. Definitely felt that Lara was a more sociable host than Peter, but he was honest and said that she is one that usually takes care of all of this!

We had a wonderful time, despite the rain all weekend. The hot tub and sauna were relaxing in the cool weather and Peter and Lara were great hosts - they even had a warm fire waiting for us upon arrival! Plenty of room and activities for our 2 families. The game room, board games, and big screen entertained us in the rainy weather. Would highly recommend!

We stayed at Pete and Laura's Chalet at then end of a socially distanced and cold winter. After being vaccinated, we gathered together for the first time in a year. It was a birthday celebration after a year of no in person celebrating. To say the least, there were many expectations for this trip. The property, home and atmosphere surpassed our expectations. The view was beautiful, the home was warm and comfortable, and the kids had a blast. It was the perfect combination of kid friendly and appealing to adults. In addition to the place being clean, Pete was wonderful. He helped when we needed him and left us to ourselves when we didn't. Our experience made us decide that our trip would be an annual event. I highly recommend this home for rental. It was really great!

We had a great little getaway at Peter’s property. Check in was easy and communication with owner was great. We forgot an item and he went out of his way to try and find us an equivalent. At the owners suggestion we went out for a delightful meal at a French restaurant in Tannersville. The property was private and yet close to skiing and small towns for picking up food. House is a bit dated but was hand built by owner and had everything necessary for a great stay. We would love to come back in the fall as the views from the deck/hot tub are spectacular. We will definitely be back!

Thank you Peter and Lara for the most beautiful long weekend to celebrate the start of my 34th birthday. I woke up to the prettiest white snowscape in the master bedroom patio, and then put on a cozy warm fire. The cabin was clean, spacious, and felt like your home away from home. I will definitely be coming back, hopefully in the summer to enjoy the pool! Location of this cabin was also super convenient as its about ~10 minutes from Phoenicia and ~20 minutes to Woodstock and about 6 Miles to Hunter, if you're looking to ski. Will definitely be coming back!

Our group was 5 adults and two pups. We were all very comfortable and enjoyed our time at at this beautiful home! The design of the home is even more impressive in person than in the photos. Check in was a breeze and Peter and Lara made us feel very welcome. The hot tub and sauna were wonderful after long days of skiing on Hunter Mountain which is only 12 min away. There is a beautiful stream running through the property and the wood burning stoves are so cozy. 10/10 recommend.
