Overpriced property with Rude Staff

The staff is very friendly and responsive. They communicate clearly. Old style hotel but it is comfortable enough for three-star facilities. They have a van anyone can rent with a chauffeur. That is reasonable for the comfort you are getting. Good drivers.

There was a leak in the bathroom and after a day we realized it was actually the toilet. I believe they knew it but they must have thought we would be okay with it. When we complained they gave us another room. The restaurant food was cold and of low quality. Long waiting. Sri Lankan style food was not too bad. Egg yolks were pale yellow.

Breakfast! Best breakfast we had in SL! The property also beautiful and the staff really kind.

One of the more expensive places we stayed, but commensurate with similar properties in this area. We arranged a tuk tuk early the morning we left which didn’t materialise, meaning a 15 min hike to the train station at 6.30am

Although the grounds are beautifully kept and it’s a lovely hotel, I wouldn’t rate this as a 5 star. The cost is super high compared to other hotels we’ve stayed in Sri Lanka recently. The beds were comfy but had some sort of plastic protection sheet underneath the linen so felt a bit like you were sleeping in a hospital bed. The bathroom looks nice in photos but in reality need an update, the fixtures and decor need some work. The breakfast- staff were so nice but the food needs a little updating and there was no fresh coffee available- only Nescafe….. It was nice but not what you would expect from a 5 star hotel.

Excellent location for wandering around Galle fort. Fantastic air conditioning. The best Sri Lankan breakfast we had during our 2 weeks in Sri Lanka. Staff happy to help and signposted to a cheaper tuk tuk for our travels.

Beautiful building, right in the heart of the town

The Heritage Hotel is set up in old Dutch style colonial accommodation in a great location within the Galle Fort. the staff were very friendly, helpful and looked after us very well. The room was lovely and clean with the biggest double bed I have ever slept in and was very comfortable. The breakfast served each morning was of a very high standard. The hotel organised a trip for us to visit Uda Walawe national park and assigned a driver to take three of us there in a very comfortable car. The driver looked after us and went on the safari to ensure we got the best trip possible. The hotel’s laundry service proved to be an excellent service for us as it was very hot and humid during our stay. The hotel also organised to drive us to the airport using the same comfortable car used for the trip to Uda Walawe. The hotel was excellent value for the quality and service we received.

Great location and amazing staff. Rooms were a good size and aircon worked very well. Great breakfast with extra special Sri Lankan treats for Sri Lankan New Year. Staff allowed us a very late check out at no extra cost that we didn’t expect but greatly appreciated. couldn’t praise them enough for their kindness.

Excellent location in the heart of town, 10-15 min walk from the train station or couple of mins by car. Convenient to everything in Galle Fort and for day trips outside. The staff were excellent, very accommodating and friendly and even arranged a packed breakfast for us as we were leaving early before breakfast started

Location – Excellent. The place is located right in the heart of Galle fort area. Shopping places, restaurants and the sea are just at a walkable distance. Staff – The Hotel Staff was Good and their service was quick. Cleanliness – Neat and clean. The suite is extremely spacious and the washroom has a bathtub too.

Food – Average. Set breakfast menu. Can add more Food options .

The hotel is a partly original old renovated Dutch building used as the dining etc area dating back many years and a 3-5 year old new hotel main building. The rooms had lots of character and were tastefully appointed throughout with wooden furniture and antique style decor, wooden chairs on the verandas and wooden shutters for an authentic experience. The location of the hotel is good on the main road in from the Fort entrance and is very walkable for all areas within Galle Fort.

WiFi in the room didn’t work at all. Reception had to bring us our own router for the room which then fixed the problem. Hotel was clean and well appointed but we felt it had no “heart or soul” - maybe due to the layout with an external reception and the rooms just arranged like a motel with external doors. The dining area was more like a mess hall being open sided - this allowed for a “open air experience” but birds were flying in and out and leaving little “gifts” on the tables and chairs.

The location was great. The staff, especially the manager couldn’t have been more helpful.

The staff and in particular the Manager was very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Whenever he was asked for advice he went out of his way to help. The hotel was in a wonderful old Dutch building with a lovely garden. It was located in the centre of Galle fort close to wonderful restaurants and cafes and shops. I felt safe, I am 77 years of age and spent the first week on my own. I felt safe wandering around at night on my own. I had a suite in the hotel which was spacious and charming.
