We loved our stay at Monte Perla. The view from the condo was great. We ate lots of meals on our patio overlooking the ocean. Yes there is about a 10 minute hike back up the hill but we enjoyed the exercise and always jumped in the pool to cool off when we returned.

This property is very quiet, safe and staff is friendly.

The place is very roomy with 2 baths and 2 bedrooms. three A/C kept the place cool on the hottest days. Our daily routine included sitting on the patio, drinking wine and eating snacks and watching the sunsets, which were gorgeous. Kitchen is well equipped, we ate many meals there. only 13 or so units in the building, very quiet and peaceful. if you don't mind short walk to the beach, this the place for you. if you have a car as we did, you can easily drive down the hill and park and walk across the street to the beach and our favorite place to watch the sunset, volcano brewing Kim, the owner is a very good host, providing best restaurants and attractions by EM. I bothered her with many questions by e mail and she graciously always answered quickly and kindly, very nice host., we enjoyed our 11 days here. you won't regret it book it while you can

We can't begin to explain our disappointment in our vacation rental. The first thing that stood out was the odour upon entering....fans and air conditioning should have been running and condo ready for our arrival. Some furniture, curtain rods and lamps were broken and old and looked like they had been purchased at a lawn sale. The linens were tattered, holed or stained. Bathmat was ripped. We had to clean some of the pots and pans before using. There were tortilla chips and rice scattered on the shelf above the stove. Perhaps that's why we found 2 cockroaches and many big red ants which according to the manager, is normal for being on a ground floor unit. We kept all our food in the fridge or microwave to prevent further problems. The safe didn't work and we only discovered by reading a previous review that you need a 6 digit code, not a 3-6 digit code like it stated on the safe. Upon moving dresser to get something that fell behind, we discovered an old pair of underwear...thereby telling us that the cleaning service does not clean properly. Toilet in the master bedroom was terribly stained and it ran constantly. We fixed it ourselves as we did the patio sliding door lock. I did contact the manager twice in the first 2 days to have issues resolved and Dennis, a wonderful and helpful handyman came to fix what he could. But most of the issues with this condo cannot be addressed in a day or two. We were embarassed to have our friends come to stay. I could go on and on with various other things. There are a few positives....pool is nice and cleaned twice/day and the staff were friendly...it is a quiet area to relax but the hill is quite steep to walk from downtown/beach. We viewed another unit in the same building and the difference was like night and day!!! If this is how you prepare a rental unit for people's vacation, then you are not holding up your end of the agreement. We paid in good faith and found that the condo did not live up to our expectations after viewing the advertised photographs.

Very nice condo. Access road to beach or town a little far to walk, but nice quiet location with nice pool area.

Our condo had a great view. We did not have a car and it was a long walk uphill to the condo from town.

We enjoyed our stay in Tamarindo for our 10 days ,the view of the ocean was amazing ,we spent our afternoon in the pool ,we also enjoyed the facility of your condo ,the cute monkeys & the birds we saw daily .The condo was beautiful & air-conditioned was nice and cool for those hot days . We had a great time & would definitely go back but stay longer next time so we could see more of the beautiful country .It was enjoyable & relaxing all at the same time .The maid also came by every day but we did not need her but she was there which was nice & also the pool keeper was there cleaning the pool on a daily basis & everything was taking care of,that was nice to see very well kept .Thank you for a wonderful stay . We greatly enjoyed it .

This property is a great find for those who want to be a little removed from the hustle and bustle of downtown Tamarindo, and don't mind a jaunt up a semi-steep hill to return. The groundskeeper was extremely friendly. He also serves as the security manager, though we did not know that as upon check-in at the office, we received absolutely no information about our rental. Naturally, we assumed there would be a packet waiting in the condo itself, though this was not the case. We were handed keys and directions were given, and that was it. Upon arrival, the code to the gate would not work. Thankfully our shuttle driver called and settled this with the main office-they had given us the incorrect code. No problem. Once inside, we found no information. I called the main office to find out about a wi-fi password-the man was very rude to me, acting as though this was a silly question (it is not password protected). Over the course of the next two days, we had two major incidents involving the keys they had given us; one of the keys did not work properly in the upper lock. Long story short, we were locked out of our condo twice-once because we did not know the top lock was broken, the second time because we did not know a housekeeping service was provided and they locked both door locks, resulting in us not being able to enter again. When this was brought to the attention of the main office, they were very rude. It took another full day to get the locks fixed, and again the main office was rude, unprofessional, and caused us to have to stay all day at the condo for a new lock to be installed. So, one night and one full day unable to leave, with little help from the main office and lots of attitude. Those employees who did direct service work for the property were very nice (the maintenance man who eventually came to fix the lock, housekeeping, and the grounds keeper). We just wish we had known they existed in the first place. The property itself was lovely, and the condo very well maintained. It is quite unfortunate the property owners have to use this management company, because it is not the property itself but the managers that really make it disappointing.

We enjoyed out stay here. Check in was easy and friendly. Appreciated that the owners contacted us during our stay to see if anything was needed. In our case we had rented a car and someone was using our condo spot. Mentioned it and the next morning our parking spot was vacant for us to use. Quick response Kim, thank you. The condo is clean, had everything we needed. Nice View from the deck, beautiful sunsets to enjoy and yet so close to town.

Pool guy was here almost daily, so the pool was ready to go. The Unit was clean and well appointed. The location is great, easy to walk to everything but not too close to have all the noise. We had a couple of issues that were disappointing but not truly unexpected in a humid environment. What could be fixed (BBQ) was fixed on Monday (not much happens on sundays here?). The other (shower faucet)we lived without. Kim was great at getting back to me and answering all questions. The housekeepers here were helpful trying to resolve our issues as quickly as possible. Check in was very easy. Overall a great stay!

We stayed in Condo #1 for one week this month and enjoyed every moment. All the amenities you could want, a beautiful view and great neighbors. I would highly recommend staying here. Kim and Ryan are also wonderful to work with.

We stayed at Monte Perla #1 Dec. 20-29th 2016. The condo had just been repainted, there were new mattresses on the beds, new linens, curtains, etc. Had amazing sleeps!! Having 3 air conditioners (each bedroom and living room) was great as everyone liked a different temperature for sleeping. As we were 4 (2 adults, 9 year old and 15 year old) our teenager decided to sleep on the hide-a -bed which he found fine. We were able to prepare our own meals without any issues. There were many pots and pans that were in good condition, the kitchen was clean. We enjoyed viewing the sunsets from our patio - it is a truly amazing view being up on the hill looking out on the ocean. We spent many hours at the pool with our kids in the late afternoon. It was very clean with lounge chairs to enjoy either the sun or shade. They cleaned the pool daily. As it is a smaller complex the pool area is quiet. It was nice not being on the main street. You could not hear all the noise from the clubs and concerts that were going on. It was a nice walk, no more than 5 minutes to the beach and shops. We did work up a sweat coming back up the hill in the afternoon heat, but the pool or a "refreshing" drink took care of that. The supermarkets are very close by to get groceries. The owners were in contact by e-mail making sure everything was up to par. A small issue with a blocked condenser hose on the air conditioner was dealt with within a couple of hours by the property management. The owners also followed up with us to ensure again that it was corrected to our satisfaction. The building is well constructed, you do not hear any other people from the other units. It appears to be maintained well, there is onsite security during the night and it is gated. The safe in the condo worked well and held everything we needed - just remember the code needs to be 6 digits long! The closet in the master bedroom was very large and there are dressers in the bedrooms. The washer and dryer were great to have! We have stayed in many rental properties and this property met our expectations and is priced fairly. We would not hesitate to rent again! We had Christmas dinner at Pangas restaurant - amazing and classy being on the beach - walking distance from the condo towards the estuary.

We enjoyed our stay in this complex and would recommend it to others. The pool is a lovely oasis, sheltered from the hubbub of a bustling, fun tourist town. It was so nice to be up on this hill to enjoy the ocean breeze and take in the sunsets. I had a six month old baby at this location and found the layout to be good for naps without having to tiptoe around. I would highly recommend this place on the basis of the fair and professional owners and management; they are dependable and trustworthy, something that is the most critical in renting a VRBO.

Enjoying the last few days in Monte Perla, Tamarindo, Costa Rica! It will be 27 nights that we spent here! The ocean views, sunsets, and in general countryside is breathe taking, however the condo did not live up to expectations at the price charged! The entire condo needed amake over.... Shall I start at the beginning when I was checking out the condo only to find that I had to finish the wash from the people before me, fold and dry towels & sheets and the front door which had lost its seal & we woke up one windy morning with piles of sand on the inside . . I was embarrassed to have my sister-in-law stay in the spare room, as the curtains were so badly stained & dirty! And the room had a funny smell to it. The closet in that room is a joke, as the rod couldn't hold any thing over a couple of shirts. The kitchen was lacking in several areas for long term renters. Not enough plates for 6 people, not a full set of drink glasses, wine glasses or even coffee cups. Had to wash some pots before I even used them and the fry pans needs to be replaced as the coating is peeling. I even had to purchase dish cloths.The ceramic tile was easy to clean but with so many pot marked chips in it, it looked dirty all the time. The patio would have been great to sit at if the outdoor ceiling fan worked! The furniture there had seen better days, especially when you look around at what the other condos have! The screen door would have been nice to use if the screen was repaired. Tv worked, good wifi, poor window coverings for keeping the sun out at night or maintaining a dark room for extra company sleeping on the sofa. The master bedroom was spacious, but lacked a proper dresser to put away your clothes. Again, the curtains were filthy! Owners should really invest in new sets of beds, foam mattresses were deteriorated to the point of being rock hard to sleep on, consequently my husband slept on the couch which was newer with comfy cushions. The master bathroom showed signs of some kind of water damage, on the ceiling which looked dirty & showed the further lack of up keep needed.Oh, did I mention the safety deposit box that doesn't work and we contacted the property manager he never showed his face or responded. Monte Perla is a nice place to stay in Tamarindo, but just not in unit # 1 for the rental price!...

Great location, amazing views, the condo has everything you need, well equipped, nice size bedrooms and really comfortable. (Washer and dryer.... Life savers). Kim is super sweet and beyond helpful. You won't regret staying here. I will definitely stay here again with no doubt!!!

When we arrived, one of the bedroom air conditioners was not working. (The thermostat was set on 59 so I new immediately it had not been working for the previous occupant). Since it was 92 during the day and 82 at night an AC is a requirement for sleeping. Ultimately my husband and I had sleep in the air conditioned den on a small lumpy sofa bed (with our feet dangling off) for the first 3 days. The local property manager wouldn't return calls so we had to reach out to the owners to finally get it fixed on the third day. I was informed it's a part-time venture for the local property manager, so I guess it's not a priority. The owners verbally offered a price adjustment, but it never materialized past the talk stage. Overall the condo needs a $1000 refresh with paint repair, drapes, door adjustments, baseboards, etc. The complex is also getting tired and needs a help to repair some of the cracked steps, standing water, dead landscape, cracking walls, etc. Five years ago this might have been an A+ property, but now it's time to handle some maintenance items. There were some other issues with the cookstove and one of the toilets, but I think you get the idea. On the plus side it has the best water pressure we've ever encounter and lots of hot water.

This was our first time to Tamarindo and Monte Perla was the perfect place to stay! Waking up with a perfect view to the beach and a cup of coffee couldn't have been more perfect! This condo had it all! Two very comfortable bedrooms, we stayed two adults with my two boys, which loved the idea of a sofa bed so they also used the one in the living room. All bedrooms have air conditioning as well as the dining room, living room and kitchen! That's a huge plus for the hot temperatures in Tamarindo! The kitchen was FULLY equipped, I even found some gadgets I didn't own ( And I thought I had them all). There's a bathroom in each bedroom, they are very spacious. And you can cook watching the sunset, that was the best part at dinner time! I just loved it! The condo was exceptionally clean! Extra towels and linens are provided in the closet! There's nothing else I could have asked for! It is well located, at a small hilltop, so you don't hear the disco music from the Tamarindo night life. The supermarket is just a 4 minute drive and the nearest beach is a 2 minute drive or 10 minute walk. I'm definitely coming back to Monte Perla and renting this condo! It was well worth it! I contacted the property managers by email and phone and they were super kind and helpful! I highly recommend you stay here! Hope you enjoy as much as we did!

This was our first time to Costa Rica and we are certainly happy to make this choice for our two week holiday. Monte Perla was a perfect oasis from this busy and fun little town. As said before by others, the view is phenomenal from the private terrace! There is also a smaller terrace off the master bedroom with the same view! We are 55+ and (mostly) enjoyed the hike up the hill...a little toasty in the middle of the day but keep the pool in mind :) Put it this way...you can eat whatever you want! We rented a car to be able to sight-see on our own but is only necessary for those with limited mobility. 95% of the restaurants are excellent. We did not have a bad meal. Since we were travelling with a few other couples who were scattered over mostly the other side of town we found that walking the beach was faster and more pleasant than walking through town. Having the BBQ was wonderful since that is the way we cook at home and it keeps the heat down. The condo was well equipped and we certainly enjoyed the pool. We hope to return to Monte Perla and recommend that you enjoy this beautiful home!

The property is exactly like the pictures. I'd like to move it wherever we travel! Here are a few things that we loved about the property: - property manager was very helpful and quick to look after any small problems we did have - beautiful ocean and sunset views from every room - pool area and grounds are quiet, safe and well maintained - beautiful! - love that there was a BBQ - property was clean and well-maintained - a vehicle wasn't needed, we walked everywhere and taxi's will take you anywhere in Tamarindo for $5 USD Definitely Recommended!! Enjoy!

We enjoyed our stay in beautiful Tamarindo . The accommodations at Monte Perla were very comfortable, and clean. The pool was very clean and a welcome sight after walking up the hill. A nature lovers paradise ! Would return in a heartbeat!

The condo is well-maintained and appointed for a small group: more than 4 people would be pushing it. Pool is exceptionally well-maintained: cleaned every morning and is usually quiet. The description re: location is fairly accurate though getting to the beach in 5 minutes would mean jogging, not walking. The road to the condo is up a very big hill: great exercise but not suitable for those who are not fit. Great info from owners and managers before we arrived: service was less friendly when we got there but we were late arriving (note there is a $75 USD charge if you arrive after 5 pm.) and this may have led them to be less inclined to be welcoming, friendly and helpful! Overall, this is a good bet for independent travellers who are looking for modest, conventient accommodation and privacy.

The condo was exactly as described. Everything was clean and well maintained. The condo was well equipped with all the basics and the new barbeque was most appreciated. The air conditioners and ceiling fans made the condo very comfortable during the heat of the day. The pool was well maintained and constantly being cleaned and cared for. Best of all the beautiful long sandy beaches were a short walk away. A great condo for beach lovers looking for time on the beach in a surfers paradise.
