We came in Sept last year as well as May 2022 and booked our next trip on the spot! Its the perfect place for relaxation with turtles and so many fish varieties every time you step into the cove. The property gardens are immaculate, management caring and attentive and our apartment was well equipped. Only thing missing was AC so the place was a little hot late afternoon, but its easy to air and fans are available.

The cove provided a surf free area where all forms of sea life live and is easy to reach. The condo was clean and comfortable. As they say there is no air conditioning, which under normal circumstances would be fine. We just happened to arrive on the day that heat was breaking all records, but with fans we were able to do ok. (the good part is that it got the teenagers out of the room and off their electronics. They discovered the sea life and we had them. It was a wonderful vacation for all. The Cove was located in a more residential area and one got the true feel of life in Hawaii. There were a few repairs that needed to be done and reported to the management. Nothing major.

The bedroom furniture was outdated and worn, the bathroom’s curtain rod was rusty and half of the bathtub grips were missing. The kitchen’s waste basket (under sink) was cracked/broken and the entry rug was nothing more than a carpet remnant. There was a chipped water glass & dinner plate. A spatula would have been nice. Also, the plywood floor was exposed from a loose piece of carpet between the kitchen/living room. The lanai’s cushions s/b replaced, one was missing and some of the plastic straps were ripped. We did like the new sliding glass door but the screen door needed sticker magnets for safety like many other units. I would not recommend this unit until improvements were made. Thank you.

Reviewer Comments: The Cove is a great well-maintained quiet location, with great views, a nice pool, and its own "private" sheltered cove with great snorkeling and "guaranteed" turtles, and a safe spot to SUP. No beach, but outstanding Napili and Kapalua beaches are only minutes away. We have returned for several years for multi-generational family stays in multiple units, and have stayed in a number of different units.

Unit 216 was very nice. We used the upper loft bedroom with the queen bed, which had good ventilation with the fans and breeze, and no noise from the parking lot or road. The main floor bedroom with the twin beds is more exposed to the sun and sounds; we were using it for storage, not to sleep in. Booking via the HC rental association (Su and Betty) was great. Unit was clean and well maintained. Only criticism is that plates glassware etc were pretty limited and beaten up, and need to be renewed. We would rent this unit again, and recommend to others.

This particular time was a shorter stay, but everything was as clean, efficient and professionally run as my two previous visits. The cove was a little more churned up because of ocean conditions so the snorkelling was not as impressive as prior visits but still lots of turtles and fish to see. The unit was clean and well stocked with essentials. Furnishing a wee bit dated but honestly, that is the last thing to care about considering how lovely everything else is. The property is close enough to Lahaina to come and go as often as you like and the property also is very secure and well maintained. One morning we had 12 sea turtles on the rock beach. There is no sandy beach on the property (and I would find it a bit hard to get in with little kids because the shoreline is rocky) but this is some of the best snorkelling, and there is a lovely pool and lots of chairs to lounge on! Overall I highly recommend Honokeana Cove!

We were pleased to see Betty and Sue, the property managers, again. We have come here for many years and always feel the magic of instant relaxation. We wouldn't consider going anywhere else given the location and relatively easy entrance into the cove where there are plenty of turtles. My husband's favorite time is BBQ'ing with a view of the cove and Molakini. I've given this property (216) 4 stars instead of the 2 it deserved when we arrived. Our problems were taken care of quickly and they weren't a huge bother to us because our family had another condo rented as well. There is now a new refrigerator and any electrical issues in the kitchen outlets are probably solved. It is time for the owner to update the kitchen utensils, microwave, glasses and pots and pans. We appreciated the granite counters and newer cabinetry. The downstairs bath/shower needs grab bars. If you're seated on the veranda the view to the west in this unit is partially obstructed by a palm tree. That tree will grow! We still enjoyed the view and the warmth of the afternoon sun was controlled nicely by a shade that could be lowered. The units on this side of the complex tend to have a little more road noise, but it was tolerable to us because we're early risers. Bring ear plugs if you like to sleep in. Another reason we love the Cove is its proximity to Kapalua and the nice walking trails. There's only a short part on the road and then there are sidewalks and a low traffic lovely Cook Pine lined road up to good coffee and prepared food at the Honolua Store near the Ritz. There's also the ocean trail. There's no problem getting 10,000+ steps in a safe, interesting and varied environment, including walking next to the ocean.
