The four of us stayed at this amazing house for four nights as part of our three week West Coast road trip. The house is beautifully appointed, and a very relaxing environment to be in: we all relaxed immediately upon arrival and felt at home. Great location for leisurely walks back and forth to town, and convenient for the main road to Big Sur and Los Lobos State Park.

Cute house but old. Lot of deferred maintenance. Feels like a full time rental with minimal extra supplies (like extra towels or cleaning supplies). Also the location is deceptive as it’s on Highway 1 so while it is is Carmel, walking to Carmel is not safe. The map that it advertises is not the actual location of the house. You hear all the highway 1 traffic. If I were coming back, I would not stay here and do not recommend you book this place if you like talking into town or the beach. WAY to expensive for what you get.

The 5 days were lovely! could have used some kleenex and some more toilet paper - only 2 rolls for each bathroom. Also - only 1 tea towel -- not enough when we weree preparing meals there.

Our group had a great stay! The beds were comfy, the house was so cute and clean and location was quiet but still close to town. I just wish the listing made it a bit more obvious that the twin beds were air mattresses not real beds. It was only stated in the “fine print” which we should have read closer.

our stay was upsetting and disappointing. Two of my sisters had to strip and launder their sheets upon arrival because their beds had not been changed. There was no barbecue. The fireplaces could not be used. The fire pit outside was pathetic. The kitchen is underwhelming. both the kitchen and bathrooms were not well stocked. the manager is not a good communicator. The home is visibly neglected and there is deferred maintenance, inside and out. there was a rancid bottle of red wine left for us as a gift. The entire home was generally unclean, especially the game room where I slept. The sofa was covered with dead ladybugs and fish crackers were mashed into the carpet and underneath every cushion of the sofa. lastly, the traffic noise from Hwy 1 disturbed our sleep. My sisters and I have been awaiting this reunion for several months. We will never stay at this property again. at this price point, the house should have been pristine. But the pictures were deceptive and the property descriptions were not updated.

Very special home with history. Lots of space for cozy nights. It's well appointed. Kitchen is outdated but has dishwasher. Only real issue is lack of counter space.

The stay was wonderful (the bed sheets and beds were even better). The house had a super adorable old school Carmel feel. The only small complaint was that there was no shampoo anywhere in the house. There was conditioner and body wash but no shampoo. Otherwise fantastic.

Beautiful home and absolutely perfect location. Walk to everything in Carmel-by-the-Sea. We were attending the Indy races at Leguna Seca - even hosted one of the drivers - who also loved to place.

An architectural gem.French doors in every room lead to a gorgeous private patio. Very private and beautifully landscaped. I would give this property five stars in every category but for $1000/ night( plus the additional vrbo fees) it could use a refresh( kitchen, outdoor furniture, game room bathroom). Otherwise an ideal home. Great location.

One of the best VRBOs I’ve rented. Great amenities, location was centrally located with a short walking distance to town, and large enough for our group. Communication with property manager was great and timely. Would easily rent again.

Beautiful home in a great location! Very spacious and loved the fact that every room had its own bathroom and shower! We walked into town every day and enjoyed everything Carmel by the Sea had to offer! Spent some time in Monterrey as well and it was a quick 10 min drive into Downtown Monterrey. We would highly recommend and would definitely book again! The host was extremely friendly and responsive. 5 Stars all around!

This house was just perfect for a chilled get away weekend for myself and my girlfriends.
It was really full of character, large and had 3 good sized bedrooms with plenty of space to hang up or put away clothes.
The games room was the icing on the cake - a great space to hang out!
There was easy parking for 2 large cars and it was minutes to get to downtown Carmel driving.
The gardens were stunning, there was superb outdoor space which we managed to sit out a bit in despite the cool weather.
Sadly we didn't get round to using the hot tub but it looked great too!
The check in process was flawless and the check out couldn't be simpler either.
The host was communicative and helpful.
Honestly couldn't fault it.

This home is one of the rare instances where the actual property looks even better than the photos (and the pics already look great). The home is well equipped and tastefully appointed throughout, the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, and the location is quiet yet just a stone’s throw from town. Would definitely stay there again!

This charming house was perfect for our family trip. Walking distance to the beach, close to town, comfy beds, great outdoor space in a beautiful neighborhood. Ashley was wonderful, very accommodating and easy to communicate with!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely home....appreciated the classic style with all of the special spaces available, including a bedroom on the main level for my 90 yr old father:)
With the weather unseasonably warm, we spent much of our time out on the patio area, enjoying the firepit and the hot tub!
The kitchen was a bit difficult to cook in for 8 people, so we ate out or brought food in, which was fine.
Even though it is close to everything, it felt extremely private and safe.
Thank you for providing this special home for us...we would love to return sometime!
Only a couple suggestions:
1. In the online description it mentions, "all beds are top quality and adorned with crisp linens." While this was true, the ones who slept on the air mattresses had to go through the house and find any extra blankets, as there were not blankets provided for those beds.
2. We do hope you will eventually offer your wood burning fireplace as shown, or remove it from your amenities list:)

My family and I loved this house. We were in town for a wedding. Bedroom’s were comfy and all had own bathrooms! The outdoors hangout space was great. Amazing location. 5min from downtown!

We were three couples that rented Ashley's home for 4 nights towards the end of September. In our initial search for a home, what was really important to us was being able to have three en suite bedrooms, similar in size so that each couple felt that what they got for their ⅓ of the cost of the rental was fair. We were all delighted with our accommodations!
The house is quite large so it was easy to find our own spaces to be in, whether we wanted to be outside on the patio enjoying the fire pit, or in the large game room, watching TV or playing ping pong, or in the beautiful living room just talking.
We found the home's location to be very convenient and while we drove into town, it was walkable as well.
We were truly pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed the home and would certainly be open to renting it again in the future!

This property was perfect for our getaway from the hustle and bustle of the northwest. This home is a little oasis in Carmel by the Sea. I can honestly say, we spent most of our time enjoying the front terrace, dining al fresco. Enjoying our time together outside by the outdoor fireplace. The best part was all the hummingbirds that come to visit.

We enjoyed our stay at the house. The house is as described. It has real vintage charm and plenty of space both inside and outside. We were able to walk to downtown Carmel by the Sea from the home in about 15 minutes or so, enjoying all Carmel has to offer. The weather was unseasonably warm during the beginning of our stay. We opened all the windows that could be opened. Doing this made the house cooler and more comfortable especially at night. A few of the windows did not have screens, which would be a nice addition if I was to suggest anything. Ashely is an excellent host, she accommodated some early access requests and was very prompt in responding to questions, which I truly appreciate. Overall I would say this place is a great to stay, we would definitely stay here again.

My stay at this beautiful property was very lovely! It’s located white close to the Main Street of Carmel and the beach, which you can walk to in about 15 minutes. It’s an older cozy gem right off highway 1 - the perfect retreat from exploring the Big Sur coastline and all the beautiful locations the area has to offer. I would stay again next time I’m in the area and exploring with my friends!

Our family of 5 spent 4 nights at "Time-honored architectural treasure in Carmel-by-the-Sea!". The house is easy to find just off Hwy 1. We could definitely hear the traffic and it bothered some and not so much others. The house is a downhill walk to town but definitely a workout walking back uphill. The best part of the house is the front lawn under the massive oak tree. We moved some chairs to that area and spent our cocktail hours surrounded by nature. We didn't spend any time on the outdoor patio with couches , fire table, outdoor dining table and jacuzzi because the set up was odd, couches uncomfortable, didn't feel clean and the freeway noise was too much. The house itself is nice with old charm but in definite need of some upgrades. The kitchen was unusable, felt so dusty and smelly...we ended up eating every meal out. The bedrooms are roomy and comfortable but in need of better beddings and pillows. We couldn't find any extra pillows and sheets/ blankets for the extra bed and had to borrow from the actual beds. It was fun to play ping pong in the game room while watching movies at night. The house didn't feel top notch clean but not terrible. Bring your own soaps/ shampoo/ dishwasher liquid as it is surprisingly not supplied.
My comments are based on comparing with other houses we have rented in the past. This house
is not great but not bad but most importantly we had a good time and it was a nice change of scenery for our family....and we love Carmel!

This place already has plenty of good reviews. The photos are all accurate. The game room was great fun for us.
The host was good with communication when we couldn't find some extra sheets.
We had some problems with the WiFi. One was a true outage by the provider but even after that was resolved we had some issues so I wouldn't recommend the house if you are planning to work remotely from there.

The house has so much charm, some of it is original to the house but that just adds to the charm. Location is great just off ocean ave, there is a fairly steep hill but it’s manageable. We had a great stay.

Beautiful house, great location
My wife and I had a perfect stay here along with our siblings and their partners. The rooms were spacious and the indoor-outdoor space was perfect. The proximity to downtown Carmel is also excellent, as we were able to walk everywhere. We would stay here again

It's a LOVE
This is the most wonderful property! The owner was communicative and accommodating. The home warm, clean, charming and well-fitted with modern needs. This 1935 home provided just the right amount of privacy for all the guests with amazing rooms inside and out for gathering and fun. Also very close to town for a power walk or stroll. Yes, some hills on the way back but delightful nonetheless. We highly recommend this home.

Very special home!!
Ashley and Kristin were both world class! We had airplane maintenance trouble on the day of our departure. Ashley and Kristin were both very accommodating and allowed us to stay an extra night. We will be retiring to The Snyder house for sure!
