The property was beautiful and the views were breathtaking. Our family and friends had a wonderful stay. Ximena, the property manager was awesome to work with and provided a ton of helpful information about navigating Montezuma. We are already planning our next trip to Casa Divina. Thank you for an amazing experience!

Property manager went above and beyond. Personally met with us at check-in and explained everything about the house. Gave us advice on a delicious restaurant. Suggested a nice waterfall and swimming area that was the highlight of the vacation. Good floor plan. Nice pool. Lots of windows. Not too far from either town. Very quiet.

My family (2 adults, 3 kids) stayed at Casa Divina for a month this summer. It was one of those rare instances where the house exceeded our expectations and the views and experience could not be captured in the photos in the listing. The house was very spacious for a family of 5. The terrace is enormous and the salt water pool is so refreshing and constantly cleaned. Casa Divina is set in the jungle with beautiful palms and tropical flowers surrounding the home, yet you are only a 10 minute drive from Montezuma. If you enjoy waking up to howler monkeys and tropical birds, this is the place for you! The staff was extremely helpful. Montezuma is a really special place and Casa Divina felt like home!

Not as advertised
We reserved this house for 28 days.
The photos advertising this rental are several years old. Trees have grown 12' since. There is no palm frond covered roof, only tin now. Most things around the house are way past their prime, they are completely worn out and need replacing. Light switches that do nothing. Fan control switches that either don't work or stuck on low.
Kitchen,
Pros:
As mentioned in other reviews, well stocked with nice dinner ware, silverware and pots to cook with. Full size fridge with ice maker.
Cons:
Due to the lack of palms fronds covering the roof, the entire upstairs common area is hot beyond tolerance. This is also an area that ceiling fans not working. Yes we tried to open everything for cross ventilating, but only filled the house with road dust. So best to wait til about 8:00 to cook. The water pressure at the sink is almost none existent. Timed it and it took 5 minutes and 20 seconds for hot water to make it.
Bathrooms,
Pros:
Toilets worked fine
Cons:
Main bath, the shower does not all flow into the tub. The tile around the tub soaks then runs onto the floor and eventually out the door. The shower head is corroded where all the shower jets are gone and the water just flows from the holes. Fixtures and soap dispenser corroded. Towels are long past need of replacement. Hair dryer does not work (it runs but equivalent to just hot breath blowing).
Bedrooms,
Pros:
Lots of storage. Good pillows. Lower 2 bedrooms were nice and dark...and cool with decent mattresses
Cons:
Sheets and bed covers all need replacement
Master bed mattress long past need for replacement. Neighbours dogs bark all night and you hear it in the master. Ended up moving down to the bunk bed....quiet and a better mattress.
Pool,
Pros:
The salt water is a plus and it does keep a very comfortable temperature.
Cons:
The pool guy
House in general
Pros:
Location, convenient to both Cobano + Montezuma for shopping, banking and medical. About 15 minutes.
Cons:
Front gate, manual and incredibly hard to open and close.
All gardens overgrown and neglected.
No real escape from the heat of the afternoon. The upstairs outdoor sitting only tolerant till 10:00. The pool area has very little shade (only 1 small umbrella), with worn out pool chairs.
To sum up, this house may be fine for short stays but longer and the inefficiencies will tire you. It reeks of absentee-landlord and in dire need of money spent on renter's comforts

Great green experience!
We (two families from U.S. & Sweden) just spent 5 nights in this beautiful house that has all necessary facilities and we loved to just hang out on the big balcony and around the pool, especially in the afternoons.
Kelsey and Ximena are great! They both replied super fast to all our messages (mail & WhatsApp) and Ximena helped us with local recommendations (restaurants, waterfall access etc.) and a tour booking to Tortuga Island on site, highly appreciated :-)!!!
Our stay was a great experience and I can definitely recommend this home if you want to stay a bit remote (around 15min drive by 4WD car (highly recommended since the roads isn't paved and in bad shape) from Montezuma) with beautiful green surroundings.
Thank you Kelsey & Ximena! When we'll go back to this area we'll definitely stay here again!

Quiet Gem of a Place
Great House, clean, well stocked kitchen, awesome pool and nice views of Costa Rican greenery. If you are renting a car definitely get a 4WD as the Pura Vida road is not paved.
Communications with Kelsey and Ximena was frictionless. Ximena was available for all questions/concerns via WhatsApp during our stay.

Our favorite from our stay in Costa Rica
This house is gorgeous, it by far exceeded our expectations for a beach house in Montezuma area. I would recommend this house for anyone traveling to Costa Rica and interested in staying in the Montezuma area. As noted by previous reviews, Montezuma is very hot so expect high temperatures in the common areas (bedrooms have AC). Absolutely loved our stay and check-in check-out was easy.

Excelent time surrounded by nature
I just went to spend the weekend on this beautiful house.
First of all I have to say that both Kelsey (owner) and Ximena (the property manager) are great. They are very comprehensive and are always willing to help, you can see they are geniunely interested in their guests..
Although the house fits 8 we were let to take an additional nineth guest, this was not a problem at all and we all slept comfortably on the houese, as well when we were leaving the house we had an issue (not related to the house nor to the owners) and we lost the 5p.m. ferry to Puntarenas, and Ximena very kindly let us stay at the house for an additional time so we could wait for the next ferry at 8p.m.
As for the house, it is very beautiful, it has a great distribution it has all necesarry facilities and is very well equiped. The only thing I would improve would be maybe having an additional fan on the common area (kitchen and dining room) as this area does not have AC and Montezuma is very hot, however, this was not ubearable.
Outside the house you can see a great variaty of wildlife (insects, birds, coati, congos monkeys etc.) which we were able to see from the pool and the gardens sorruonding the property.
As well it has great location it is very near to Montezuma beach, Santa Teresa, and other great natural attractions like Montezuma waterfall that you can easly visit.
The property as well has security from 6.pm. till 6 a.m. which makes you feel that you are secure en every moment and you can enjoy of the property with out having to worry about security.
Overall it was a great experience and I definitely look forward to visiting Kelseýs beatiful home again.

Dream villa !
We stayed in Casa Divina for a week in early March with our 3 and 6 year olds. This villa is a dream come true : spacious, elegant, very well designed and equipped, yet in wild and quiet surroundings. The swimming pool and jacuzzi are just perfect, and we enjoyed them everyday. Returning to the villa after a morning at the beach or a hike was always something we looked forward to. The view from the terrace and the pool - and the shower upstairs ! - is unforgettable, as you enjoy so many colorful birds, or the sight of iguanas or howler monkeys nearby...
We've had such a wonderful time in Casa Divina. Air conditioning in the bedrooms was a blessing, and at times we wished the dining room had A/C too, especially at lunchtime, but that's about the only thing we missed.
It took us 10 to 12 minutes to drive to Montezuma, and about the same to Cobano the other way. As mentionned in other comments, driving a 4WD is recommended, if only for the climb out of Montezuma, which is pretty steep, and since half the road to the villa is a dirt track - as most of the roads in the area, which is part of the adventure...
Kelsey was very swift in answering our questions prior to our stay, and Ximena went out of her way to make our experience memorable. Many thanks to both of you. We can only recommend staying in Casa Divina, hoping that it will be available if we ever return to Montezuma !

Incredible. A sunny and relaxing oasis. We loved it
Casa Divina was incredible. Just far enough away from the beach that it felt private but not isolated. Dispite the crazy fun activities all around us, zip lining, waterfalls, surfing, and ATV riding, our kids loved the pool as much as anything. It's a beautiful home. Thanks for having us.

House is beautiful and very well maintained!!! Every window has a view.
The pool water in July was always at the perfect temperature. House layout is perfect for more than one couple or family of four or more. Being able to rent there Quad during our stay was also an added plus. Located in a great spot to get around the Peninsula. Easy check in and check out, we had no problems the entire eight nights we stayed there.

Amazing place to stay
My family (including two adults, a teenager, and two toddlers) absolutely loved our stay in this home. Xima, the property manager, was so helpful and resourceful--she immediately made us feel at home. And Kelsey, the owner was so helpful when booking. The house is stunning and we loved the property grounds, especially the salt water pool. Very eco-friendly and is seclude, yet close in proximity to Montezuma. My family spent a month in CR in July 2016 and this was one of our favorite experiences. After staying in Santa Teresa for 2 weeks, this area was an ideal place to relax and get away from it all. Also, we preferred Montezuma over some of the other towns. We will definitly return to the area and Kelsey will be the first person I contact to secure a home for us. If you are reading this, you should rent this property--you will be glad that you did.

Tune out, Relax and Watch the Geckos
We spent a week at Casa Divina and it was fantastic, the perfect respite from a harsh northern winter.
Montezuma is a beach town close by that has one of the best restaurants I've ever been to (if you're into amazing food on a beach while the sun sets over the ocean). In the other direction is Cobano, a typical Costa Rican small town we really enjoyed, even though it's not a real tourist destination. A bakery with a toy car out front (that the two year old loved), a produce store, a couple of grocery stores and a glimpse into every day Costa Rican life.
We made arrangements with the same cab driver every day, so by the end of the week we met his family, visited their farm and enjoyed some freshly made tortillas, queso fresco, roasted cashews and newly picked mangoes.
We also hired someone to cook for us, which was a great decision, since we didn't want our friends to cook and clean for us while we chased our two year old. He bought our groceries, prepared a mid-morning snack or smoothie and then later a formal lunch.
At night, we would laze around the many lazing areas and watch the geckos. It was the perfect trip to slow down someone who's been working hard or stressing out. I would definitely go back, and imagine it often now that I am back to the daily grind.

A Perfect Paradise
We found love in this perfect paradise! Our group of 5 ventured into the Montezuma area because we have heard nothing but incredible stories about this beautiful place. We chose Casa Divina because it was tucked privately into the hills, but still had easy access to Montezuma and Cobano. Casa Divina was everything we hoped it would be and more, the pictures from the website are a perfect depiction of what the property truly is, for all the photos we took, none could do justice to show how gorgeous and luxurious this property was! The whole house feels big, grand and open. The kitchen was spacious and beautiful and made cooking very enjoyable, it was very well equipped with everything you need, the appliances were nice and the poured concrete countertops were a great touch. The open concept from the kitchen, living room and dining room was great, there are SO many windows and you feel like you are outside when you are in. Our favorite space in the house was definitely the outdoor, covered lounge area; breathtaking views, shaded and comfortable; in the evenings the forest was alive with sounds and it was perfect and relaxing to sit outside and take it all in. We spent many days lounging in the refreshing swimming pool. The bedrooms were very open, spacious and tastefully decorated the beds were comfortable and we all slept well each night. Even though we had air conditioning in the bedrooms, we hardly used it because there was always a nice breeze through the house at night. You certainly don’t have to have a car to get around here, but the terrain is quite hilly and we would highly recommend renting the ATV that is available at the property, it made trips into town a breeze. The people caring for the property were very kind and welcoming, we always felt safe. I could keep writing but I’m running out of characters! Make sure you take in all the beauty of Montezuma, stop in all the shops and talk with locals because you never know what you will find. Even if you can’t speak Spanish, the people in the area appreciate when you try to make an effort. Montezuma is the ultimate beach bum paradise; you will fall in love with it just as we did.
We highly recommend this villa and the Montezuma area! You will fall in LOVE! We returned to cold snowy Canada and I have to say, I feel like a beach bum trapped inside a snow globe. We will be back, much sooner than later.

Paradise!
This property exceeded our expectations in so many ways. The house was truly beautiful, with many architecural attributes, such as the outdoor shower, pool and hot tub combo, cement floors and walls, and endless glass! The beds were so comfortable, it was sometimes difficult to maintain that morning walk!
We were at times a family of 4, 5 or 6 adults and never did we feel crowded in the space. We could always fine our own space if we desired it. The house was about an hour walk into Montezuma, which we did a number of times. We also made use of the Quad. We would highly recommend a car as there are too many great places to visit. We highly recommend the bakery in Cabuya...the best smoothies on the planet as well as the beach at Santa Teresa. Spectacular.
A huge thanks to Kelsey, the owner, who answered numerous questions prior to our booking and also to her team at Casa Divina. Ximena, Rode and Jhiero, who made everyday a pleasure. They took care of us like we were family. Thankyou.
We would highly recommend this property for short or long stays. The area is quiet, except for the odd nocturnal bird, howler monkeys in the mountains or horses at the neighboring property. There is plenty to do, if you choose....fantastic restaurants, zip lining, hikes, waterfalls, snorkling, music, Saturday farmers markets, breathtaking beaches, volunteering at turtle rescue stations or just simply being lazy in your hammock.
Our only criticism would be that the Internet was not always reliable. Local eateries in the villages often came to the rescue.
We would Definately recommend this property.

Thanksgiving weekend
Our first time in the area, but we have rented a lot of houses in costa rica. This one is a short bit off the main road but it feels remote. You should have an SUV ithis area. It takes about 10 min to get to Montezuma. We fit in two families easily, but did have the littlest ones in the kings with us.
Most importantly everything was excellent. Beautiful home, wonderful view, well equipped, and great pool. The manager Ximena is very helpful and 110% responsive as well.
A solid 5 star rating is deserved. If we are back in the area we would rent here again.

Modern and Peaceful
Casa Divina was a fantastic place to stay for a small family reunion in late March. We were welcomed by the lovely property manager with fresh fruit and instructions for the region.
It's a perfect quiet place for a family to gather, nestled on a beautiful road overlooking rolling farm fields and jungle.
The design elements are stunning, and it's a real pleasure to stay in such a well-thought-out home.
The kitchen is fully equipped to cook at home, with grocery stores in the nearest town, Cobano, a 10 minute drive away.
It's a quick drive from the funky town of Montezuma with its incredible beaches, yoga classes and great restaurants.
Anamaya Resort is an even shorter drive, where you can join in yoga classes and eat beautiful organic meals.
Good surfing can be found at Playa Grande, beyond the town of Montezuma, and world class surfing can be found a 45 minute drive away to the towns of Malpais, Santa Theresa and Playa Hermosa.
The photos give a sense of the gorgeous modern design of the house, but the feeling of being at Casa Divina -- lounging by the pool at sunset, listening to birds chirp while eating dinner on the balcony, rising to the sounds of the jungle -- can only be experienced if you're actually there.
