The house was beautifully decorated. The feeling I felt when I was staying there was relaxation. I had the most incredible view of the ocean. In the evenings the sunsets are incredible. I would diffentely recommend this vacation rental to everyone.

In Ventura for business and decided to try VRBO instead of the usual Hotel stay.So glad I did ! What a beautiful and comfortable place Shelley as created. It sits on the hill overlooking the city of Ventura with a view of the ocean, very peaceful and private. Morning sun, nice ocean breeze, great location, close to everything, the beach, downtown, hiking and bike trails.Shelley is a great host and is always a phone call away.I hope she has an opening the next time I return to Ventura. I would definitely still here again.

I stayed in the Hillside cottage for 2+ weeks and had a fabulous time. This private unit is beautifully decorated with panache and comfort. The owner has thought of everything to make your stay a wonderful one. Located in very quiet residential area on a hill up behind the high school, it is the perfect location to enjoy Ventura, close to shops/restaurants and attractions as well. I appreciated the full washer/dryer and the great wifi included. Just to recline on the couch with a breeze coming off the Ocean was a tonic for my soul. Shelley (the owner) was extremely helpful with any questions and very knowledgable to the surrounding area with Farmer's Mkt/ Antique shops/etc. She brought me fresh eggs the first morning I was there..how great is that ?! Nice back deck as well and a great spot to eat out/grill/ or sip a glass of wine after a day of touring around. I love the ambience here, the cordial and warm welcome of the cottage and the owner herself. I am plotting when I can return to my getaway cottage up on the hill in Ventura ! We arrived at this "cottage" in December 2014 for a 3 month stay, having booked it without a physical inspection(residing out of state), relying on the site photos and telephonic conversations with the owner. Upon arrival we were surprised to see this "cottage" was a DUPLEX. We were met by the owner, who, when asked confirmed it was a duplex. The two front doors were adjacent to each other, approximately 18" apart. The owner must have noticed our surprise because she stated, and I'm paraphrasing here, don't worry, the other unit is not rented(more on that issue later). Upon entering, we observed the interior to be neat, the kitchen functional and the bedrooms adequate. There was the common wall separating our living room from the adjoining unit's living room. The master bedroom also had a common wall to the adjoining unit. Our deck was spacious and afforded plenty of room for entertaining but with no exterior lighting(except for 1 bulb over the rear door) made fellowship or BBQing at night difficult. The adjoining unit also has a large patio, unfortunately our master and guest bedrooms looked directly upon it. Our master bedroom window is approximately 2 feet from the adjoining unit's bathroom, and when both windows were open, it made for some interesting audio. Getting back to the issue of occupancy of the adjacent unit. A few days subsequent to our arrival the unit was occupied by the owners(over Christmas holidays). The unit was then subsequently rented for our entire stay. We got along well with the other couples as duplex living requires compromises to conversational and TV noise levels. Also, privacy levels are compromised. There is a small love seat outside the front door with a beautiful view of the sunsets, but something is lost in the moment when the neighbors are are going in and out of their unit. I do not intend this to be an indictment of the property, but I believe the description listed falls far short of a full and honest disclosure of the true nature of the property. Ventura is a beautiful city with lots to offer and we intend to return, but not to this property.

This vacation rental is a great place, close to everything highway 101, the beaches, main streeold town, shopping malls, Malibu, Santa Barbara, Ojai, 60 miles to Los Olivos. You couldn't ask for a better place in this price range. Quiet home in a nice quiet area. The front door opens to the living room dining area with a nice sofa and 2 easy chairs, tv with DVD player and Bose speakers with many cable channels available. Dining area has a nice table with seating for 4 to 6 people, kitchen has a full size fridge, nice gas stove, microwave and other appliances, most everything you need to cook and bake are available. The bedroom is very nice and comfortable, the bed is a double/ full size not a Queen bed but we were fine with it. The bathroom has a sink, tub shower and toilet with a medicine cabinet, laundry area is off the kitchen with a very nice washer and dryer, this is very handy on a long stay we were able to carry less with us by having the laundry available. The big plus is the outside deck about 700 to 800 square feet with an extremely nice table with 6 chairs, and several other comfortable chairs. In the morning we drank our coffe on the deck and in the evening we had our wine, cheese crackers and fruit while watching the sunset. The neighbor has chickens which are entertaining and fun to watch and usually you didn't know they were there, what a great idea for fresh eggs. The VRBO owner Shelley is extremely polite, helpful, conserdate and kind, a great owner to negotiate with for your vacation rental. We highly recommend this VRBO for all the above mentioned amenity sand will be back to stay here again.

My family had an extended stay at this charming cottage. It is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. There is a lovely outdoor patio as well. The owner was friendly and helpful. Looks just like the photos. Would definitely recommend to friends or family.
