A traditional English country hotel with garden of glorious flowers, pond and mature trees. Reception was efficient at check in and check out. Bar service was particularly good, with nice cocktails. Lots of comfy sofas downstairs to relax with a book, and seating outside to enjoy the summer. You are in the heart of the country with a quiet Dorset village with post office and pub just a few steps outside the side entrance. Highlight was a lovely walk through fields and around the grounds of Melbury House and Estate.

We enjoyed using the swimming pool which was a reasonable size and well heated within an attractive glass conservatory. The limited exercise equipment within a small space overlooking the pool was the right equipment and adequate. But the area around the pool, and around the decorative water feature was in need of someone to scrupulously oversee cleanliness.

Very professional and attentive service. Lovely quiet location. Food at the Acorn Inn was exceptional. Lovely spa.

It’s beautiful, classical architecture, with an extension designed by ‘the’ Thomas Hardy, an Architect by profession. Lovely grounds and indoor heated Pool area. A very comfortable room. Lovely food. Friendly helpful staff. Very good.

Minor but the shower screen was rather in effective and allowed water onto the bathroom floor, slippy and too much so we had to mop it with our towels.

Staff incredibly attentive, very accommodating and room upgraded when we arrived. Grounds are beautiful and fitness centre was small but well equipped.
