Booked a Seaview room for 2 nights to celebrate our honeymoon. I informed the hotel we’d be checking in late at night, after our wedding. When we arrived we were told that there were no Seaview rooms available, but that we’d been given an “upgrade”. The upgrade we received was a room on the bottom floor, with a pool outside the room, however the pool wasn’t private, it was more like a river that ran through outside all rooms on our side, with no privacy. Also, the room was positioned directly outside one of the main pools, which had a party every day from 1-6. The music was incredibly loud and made it impossible to spend anytime in your room during these times. The only thing we received to celebrate our honeymoon was a bottle of Champagne which was left on our table in a bag, not in an ice bucket. We called reception the next morning to complain about the lack of items for our celebration. The member of staff apologised and said they’d arrange a late check out for us (1pm), and as we weren’t getting picked up until 6pm, that a room would be held aside for us so we could shower and change before leaving. When we came to check out we were told that we in fact didn’t have a room to change in, as the member of staff who told us they’d do it didn’t do it, & the hotel was now fully booked. There were nowhere near enough beds or towels for a hotel of this size. There are two pools which fill up very quickly (expected during the season) but it still felt like more beds could have been provided. Also, it felt like there were never enough staff on hand. Trying to get lunch usually at a restaurant or at a pool bar with a wait of more than 30 mins. Again I understand it’s a busy time but I’ve stayed at other hotels during this time & have not been faced with this issue. Overall whilst I booked a 5-Star hotel, my stay was anything but that.
