The purpose of our stay was a stop off while walking The South Downs Way. It was a good a location as not too far off the trail The village had an interesting history with medieval buildings and was very pretty. We had an economy room which was basic but pleasant and comfortable with a nice sized bathroom.

We were mislead by the fact this accommodation was listed on booking.com as Rose Cottage Inn and so we were expecting a working pub! On reading more about this place we found that it was previously an Inn/pub but is no longer. Maybe booking.com should amend their description.

Hosts were very communicative and answered all questions I had in advance of the trip. Instructions for check-in and check-out were very easy and clear. Property was warm and comfortable and great for staying with a dog as the ground floor room had an enclosed space out the front (which also had wonderful views!). Everything was clean and tidy and we were provided with essentials like tea and coffee. The village was in a lovely location, close to the coast and with plenty of nice walks nearby too - I’d definitely recommend a visit to Alfriston (which you can walk to from the property) and walking up Firle Beacon from the property (though note this includes a very steep climb!). I’d fully recommend staying here for anyone visiting this lovely area of the UK.

A beautiful location, very friendly hosts, excellent breakfast and the best shower.

We asked for a ground floor room which was easily accessible from the nearby car park and would be ideal for short stopovers like ours

The one room plus ensuite bathroom was adequate for our one night stopover however we would have struggled with a longer stay as space in the bedroom was limited however, it would be ideal for walkers travelling light.
