The location is fantastic. It is in a secluded area. The beach is gorgeous. Few people around. Kind staff eager to help.

It is obviously a property in transition, and in desperate need of a rethink and a renovation. The cabana was small, dark, drab. Not enough room for a couple to walk around the bed. There’s literally no design or decor. There’s one small table for luggage and two bottles of water. The porch was nice but the bed outside takes up much of the porch and the fabric is old, so it’s not pleasant sitting on them. Which means there’s less space to enjoy your cabana. The staff are trying their best and very kind - they all seem relatively new. Breakfast is 8:30-10:00. But really, it’s not ready until 9:15am. So there is a lot of waiting for even the coffee to be served. The first day was a buffet. The 2nd day, there was no buffet and we were told Sri Lankan breakfast was available only if ordered the night before. But this wasn’t communicated to us. For dinner, we waited for 20 minutes with no menu or offer for a drink. So we left to eat somewhere else. The trash bin in the dining area wasn’t changed out for 3 days. There are signs things may improve. They were replacing the roofs on some of the cabanas. The manager was open to feedback during the stay and honest about some of their deficiencies. This was the big disappointment of our trip to Sri Lanka. The cost is way too high for what you get, and my expectations may have been incorrect. It’s a tricky balance to get right. A boutique hotel that is enjoyable but without disrupting the beautiful nature and mangrove surrounding it. Hopefully they can make improvements to get this balance (and the cost) right.

First row at the beach location (turtle beach), with extremely friendly staff! They did the outmost to make the stay comfortable! Good value for money! Cozy veranda with lie down area.

Not a big thing, but the Cabanas are a little dark inside, nevertheless there is enough artificial light to switch on

The staff were excellent. Big shout out to; Indilca, Saman & Sampath - who were friendly, chatty, informative and super helpful. We walked up the beach in the evening and over 2 nights saw 8 turtles. Magical place, lovely location - that we didn't leave at all for 3 nights. Room and balcony was lovely for a family of 4.

The beach definitely was not suitable for swimming, but a pool was available (additional cost) 1km down the beach. I had older kids, who messed around in the surf, but no further. The massive waves are beautiful but definitely not swimmable.

Room and bathroom are clean and big. The food is ok and the position of the cabanas is stuning. We liked everything. We recomand this place

Place in the middle of the jungle. Close to the ocean. Perfect for have rest.

Ocean are to dangerous for swiming. Even for adults

To swim you have to drive to another beach or walk down the beach because if strong current.

The location of the hotel is fantastic. Beach, palm trees and sea views: You can relax in hammocks, have breakfast with ocean view and play volleyball. The water is turquoise blue, but there are heavy waves and you have to be careful. You have an own cottage with bed, fan, mosquito net and a really nice bathroom. In front of it there is a bed.

There are some wild dogs, that begging for food, but you can chase them and they are not aggressiv.

Most beautiful beach and place I have seen so far in Sri Lanka! The staff is awesome, the cabanas are clean and the beds are super comfortable. If you are looking for some quiet time to relax at the beach I can strongly recommend Shiva's. I extended my stay to 5 days and had a very hard time leaving. Thank you for your hospitality :)

It's a bit pricey and not ideal for swimming but I didn't mind and think it's definitely worth a visit.

We had a wonderful and relaxed stay at Shivas Beach Cabanas.

Food was good, staff were pleasant and very attentive, it was very quiet and relaxing.

It's described as Seaview which it is but you can't go near the water as the undercurrent is too dangerous. It needs a pool or something to cool off. There is a daybed outside which is also lovely but it needs a mosquito net around it for any comfort.

I highly recommend this place! The bungalows are actually on the beach, very clear and cozy. If you travel by car, there is a space to leave it. The food in the restaurant was really nice, including breakfast. Very nice and helpful staff, at the beginning of your stay they gave you all the information. Internet was available in the bungalows. Very well spent time here!

Really close to a clean and quiet beach. The bungalows are nice and clean and the fresh fish in the restaurant was really tasty.

The bungalow doesn't really have a sea view and restaurant prices are quite high. We were told we can pay by card and kept adding the charges to the room and at check out the card machine didn't work.

The location's stunning , paradise . The beds are comfortable.

The service was poor. I ordered a soft drink which was brought to me in the bottle. When I asked for a glass with ice the server couldn't comprehend. He brought me a glass ice cream dish with ice and a spoon. We left after one night as the cabanas have open areas with signs telling you creatures can come in. Why not put mesh on these areas ? Theres no atmosphere all the residents were at the bar next door . No effort into outdoor areas, cocktails, food background music etc. It's a massive shame this place could be so amazing .

nice cabanas to chill and relax. you can walk 10m to be at the beach (and it’s a super nice one) which is great. please be aware that this are cabanas meaning they’re a little bit „open“ which means that you could be able to hear and see animals like little squirrels especially if you have food in your cabana haha

it was not super clean (but overall okay) and the food was just medium, I’ve had better food for less money in Sri Lanka but it was okay and it’s of course super convenient and easy to just go 10m to the restaurant of this place

Direct at the Beach. Beautiful area. Nice breakfast. It's possible to swim in the ocean and use a pool in the neighborhood hotel. Friendly stuff. Possible to rent a scooter and see maybe the best beaches in Sri Lanka. 10/10!!!

We wanted to stay in a beach cabaña right on the sand and we got that. The room is basic but that’s a beach cabaña. Unfortunately we didn’t have a direct view of this sea which was a little disappointing when I had booked a ‘sea view’ but it was close. The lunch was really good- amazing tuna and salad. The staff wee really lovely. annoying thing is you can’t swim in the sea here!

With most places in Sri Lanka,power cuts are rife at the moment. many places can’t help it but I think here they could have done more to make you feel comfortable whilst the lights were out- simple things like candles on the table,or lighting the way to the rooms, making sure the speaker is fully charged so there’s a bit of ambience. we had dinner out at night as felt more comfortable in another bar.

the accommodation is located at a huge and quite beach. it is very quite and perfect to relax. the cabanas are very cute and you have an outside bed. Bed inside was equipped with mosquito net. if you want to go to tangalle town the friendly staff will organize you a tuktuk and it will take about 5-10min to get there (depends on where exactly)

Stunning location on a virtually deserted beach which ran as far as the eye can see. Very friendly staff catered to all our needs including booking all transfers and trips to the Rock Temple, Big Buddha, The Blow Hole and to Yala National Park (Safari). We ate at the restaurant every night and the standard was excellent. The Sri Lankan curry and the Red Snapper were outstanding .

The location and bungalows are really nice...no people at all around, but it is quite far away from everything. Food is very well prepared.

Everything is much more expensive than in all other accommodations in Sri Lanka we have visited. Tuk tuk...food in a restaurant...even exchange rate. It is overpriced definitely... they push up prices too much.

Visited this place in February 2022 for 7 days. The location is outstanding. We loved the idea of this resort. We were accommodated in cabana No10 (front, sea view). We had a fantastic view! Friendly staff. Amazing pancakes with a coffee pot. Long and relaxing beach. Visit the Marakolliya Beach Resort pool for free (same owner) - 10 min walk. Natural swimming pool - 5 min walk. Tangalle - 30 min beach walk. Rekawa beach - 1 hour beach walk. You can meet squirrels, rats, lots of flies, dogs, Monitor lizards hunting for turtle eggs, Turtles nighttime, crabs and all variation of small insects. Behind the resort is the large lagoon for prawns.

Room: If you stay more than three days, staff will change the bed linen. We did not receive that. You would need to push for things to be done. Owners need to train them. Breakfast: from 8:30 - 10 am. Guests have been sitting in front of the restaurant since 7 am. You could open it earlier. Poor presentation. Lots of flies. No choice. You are not sure what is included and not in the price. Sri Lankan co-owner usually joins the guest breakfast, eating standing, which is unprofessional. Cabana No10: lots of flies. We could not enjoy the bed outside. Lunch and Dinner: There is room to improve. Prolonged service. Long waiting time for drinks or/and food even if the restaurant is empty. Average food. We used to go to Mangrove Beach Chalets Restaurant for lunch or dinner. Owners need to train the staff! Ocean: danger to swim. Go to the natural swimming pool (5 min walk) in front of Mangrove Beach Chalets Restaurant. Power cut usually between 10 am - 14 pm. Wifi: very poor; make sure you have a local sim card. The staff was working hard - we have no issue with them. This place would be fantastic if both co-owners trained and looked after the team. You can not have a business in Sri Lanka and work remotely from Germany. This place needs tuning.

Location is its main factor just on the beautiful beach plus helpful stuff make the stay comfortable.

road to property is just outrages, food is average for the price.

Restaurant staff was very friendly. Location is amazing, right on the beach, very quiet.

Seaview cabana has no seaview! Not even a side-seaview… We complained about this upon our check in but staff continued arguing that it is seaview :D (check the picture) So, I don’t recommend paying anything extra, you are good to go with a simple beach cabana. Also, there were small bugs in our bathroom but it is understandable as the cabana is without closed windows.

The staff were so friendly and helpful! We really enjoyed the fresh breakfast as well and the room was very comfortable

Amazing, calm and hidden place where you can relax. We felt in love with this place at the first moment! The beach is the most beatifull one on whole island in our opinion. The waves are quite big but this is exactly the reason why we enjoyed it so much, it was great fun. The room is simply furnished, but has everything we needed and was very clean. Also the staff was brilliant, very kind and willing.
