The people were friendly. The waterfalls near the hotel are beautiful.
There is not much to do in the town when having small kids.

Wonderful place and location.
I did a tour into the jungle with a guide of the property, but unfortunately, it was quite disappointing.
I expected the guide to be passionate and talkative about plants and animals, but he barely spoke to me - mostly to his wife, who was with us. (My Spanish listening skills were A2, his English speaking skills were also a solid basic level). He did not seem to be eager to search for animal species, but rather observe what's around - which was only plants...and birds. And the latter did not seem to interest him either.
We hardly spoke on our way to the camp or through the whole experience, but to be fair, he answered my questions thoroughly, in case I raised any.
On our night walk we only saw fireflies and nothing else, and after maybe 30 minutes he gave up searching. I don't blame him and his wife that there have not been a lot of animals around us, but I would have wished that they tried to make this trip at least a bit more joyful and memorable for me.
Furthermore, I wished they would have taken better care of me. I had a really frustrating incident with them on a canoe in a lagune: They tried to steer our canoe, but they made it sway so heavily, that I fell into the water. No excuse from their side.
There were probably many unfortunate factors coming together, but I would not do this tour again.

The location is quite out of the way from the main highway, but near the Bonampak site. The kitchen was open very early and very late, which fit our needs perfectly. The room and private bathroom was functional.
My partner and I would have been inclined to stay longer if more activities / tours had been available, but there wasn´t much.

It was nice to be received initially by a kind family in a local rural setting.
We cannot say it was a scam, but it is quite strange to be explained what you can expect when visiting Bonampak, to see your host a couple of minute later waiting for you at the park entrance to drive you to Bonampak. Not for free of course (we paid 400 pesos for three persons, to and back). We took a guide (a friend of the host) for an additional 300 pesos for one hour, which is not particularly cheap.
We wanted to visit Yaxchillan afterwards and we were not amused by our 'escort', yes indeed, our host. In Frontera Corozal, a 45 minute drive and the starting point for the boat trip to Yaxchillan, they wanted to introduce us to another friend of them. We just ignored them and drove on to another place. It felt very unpleasant to be accompanied in this manner.
A remark about the food:
Most of it was mediocre, but relatively pricy.
All in all it was, with a not so big cabana for 1700 pesos, not much value for your money. Our suggestion would be to stay in Frontera Corozal and visit Bonampak from there.
That's a pity, because we were really interested in staying in a local Lacandon community and the place has the ingredients to make it a special place to stay. In one word, it was just too commercial.

More than a lodge, a great experience. Very Nice people working there, helpfull. They provide me a great guide for a wonderfull fullday walk in the jungle (unique experience). The cabine is very quiet near the rivier. I will come back
It’s very wet at this time of the year in this area. You have to known it.

It's a well-run family lodge in the jungle. The host family is so friendly despite of the language barriers with us English speakers. The food at the onside restaurant is fresh, homy and delicious! What a gem!

Topche exceeded our expectations. As soon as we arrived we were greeted very nicely and taken to our cabin. The cabin was very clean! The beds bug nets on top to protect yourself from mosquitos at night. I was ready to see a lot of bugs inside the cabin since we were in thr jungle, but only saw a few. Maybe it wad the time of the year.
The water pressure from the shower was not strong but that wasn't a problem for me. The shower had nice hot water which was not the case for a hotel I stayed at in Palenque. This Cabin was a lot better than the hotel I stayed at in Palenque.
There is no A/C ofcourse becaise you are in a cabin in the jungle, but the time of month I went, November, the weather was not hot. If you go in november or any wet month, I recommend taking rain boots or hiking shoes if you plan going into the jungle.
I was surprisrd by how tasty the food was and they had different dishes. My favorite were the grilled shrimp, the hot cakes and the melon juice water.
Remember to take mosquito repelant. You will be in the jungle.
I want to go back again.
Some of the young teenage male residents of the village are a bit more serious than the older residents or women in the village. They are less talkative and more serious. I did not take this negatively although my girlfriend did. Especially with a young boy with dyed yellow hair that sold at a corner store and seemed annoyed. He was not part of Topche though. I think many young teenage boys are like that, I was like that myself. Maybe the young guy was having a bad day like everyone does. So dont take things personally. Like I said, he was not part of Topche staff. Everyone else in the village was very friendly.

The price and quality of the food was very good. The staff and persons at the accommodation were friendly and open minded. Our bungalow was in a very nice garden and was very authentic. You are directly next to the dschungle!
The tour in the real dschungle could be deeper and on a better location.

Top Che is really friendly and a great hostess, and so is the rest of the staff. The location close to the river is second to none if you are looking for a stay in the jungle - a veranda just a few meters from a jungle river is great (if you like the jungle). With this in mind, they have the rooms well isolated with mosquito nets.
It is the jungle, so it is humid - no way around it. Two minor things: the water pressure is very low, so the shower barely works - though we all managed to shower every day. And a chair in the rooms would be a welcome addition to the existing furniture

It was a good location for the cabañas inside of the jungle, and how they take care of the environment trying to reduce waste.

Great location next to Bonampak. Food available for purchase at communal area. Helpful hosts. Basic room with good hot shower (very important!).
Wifi only in communal area. Only one small window in the hut, room would definitely benefitted from additional window - a lot of wooden walls and no windows :)
