Perfect location, very nice and kind staff, view from the room to the cathedral was nice, easy check-in/check-out and cute breakfast.

We saw the pictures before, so we did't expect Hilton, but the room smelled weird (especially the closet) a the walls were dirty. One of the beds was really uncomfortable.

I had booked last minute as I decided to spend the long weekend with my friend, and because of that, I had booked 3 separate rooms for the duration of my stay BUT the wonderful ladies worked to ensure that not only did I stay in the same room, but they upgraded my room to include the private bathroom! :'-) I appreciate them going above and beyond for me. Obrigada!! They gave me a lamp as the bedroom light wasn't working, and that had an extension lead with more sockets for me to plug in my devices to charge. The bed was so comfortable! My view was of the Church and old town. The breakfast! Yes, it was 2 x bread rolls, butter and jam but they were the nicest rolls and jam! Coffee wasn't too strong - just the way I like it. Loved how we were right in the middle of the old town, Funchal. Perfect! We happen to go during the flower festival and I LOVE flowers! Super clean place.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Check in good, room clean and comfortable. Central location, near church. The Pensao Astoria is ideal for people who do not want the full hotel experience. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We stay in this type of place quite a lot as we like to get out and explore the surroundings. We are not ones for sitting in a hotel all day.

My daughter and I loved our stayed at Pensao Astoria. The room was very spacious, quiet, comfortable with everything we needed for a very pleasant stay. The staff were friendly, courteous, helpful. The location could not be better.

Location 110% with extremely clean facilities throughout and a view over the Church/central plaza makes this accommodation option exquisite value. Note" however, that the breakfast is simple: orange juice/coffee/tea/2x bread rolls and jam. Would recommend for price paid.

Well, the furniture was old, but is in the portugal traditional style. The breakfast wasn't satisfying for me: only bread and coffee, but for a so cheap price it's ok.

it was very clean, they change our towels even though we stayed two nights. it is right in the middle of the city center, walking distance almost everywhere.

It was very loud during the night but it is hard to keep the street noise down. No air conditioning, it was a bit hot

Nice and clean, very central. Room is spacious, view was very very nice to streets of Funchal. Make sure to have a breakfast in the bar right next to the hotel, Penha d'Águia.

I would've loved to hear "bom dia", or "welcome" or "bem vindo", or anything similar, which I haven't heard. Breakfast is included but minimal (piece of bread, tiny butter container mini mini, and marmelaide the same mini), plus coffee or tea. It's not really my type of breakfast but ok.

Room for myself with double bed, and lots of storage space in case you're staying for a longer period of time

Very poor breakfast - only one bathroom - the staircase leading to the hostel are quite freaky and wouldn't feel very safe using at night

Very basic standard but for 1 night ok. Reception open till 12 p.m. not 24 hours as stated on booking.com site. We hardly reached the hotel before 12 p.m. going back from Porto Santo ferry not knowing about real working hours.

The location, really close to the center - Cheap price with breakfast for our first night, the lady is sympathic - Basic equipment but really clean - Early check-in, the staff accepted to make up our room in advance so that we can let our luggage before the normal check-in.

A bit noisy with other clients in the night - The bed could be a bit more confortable

Nothing major, a good place to stay

Stayed for 1 night. Location was great and everything was within walking distance. Beds were comfortable.

Rooms are older and outdated. Rooms and bathrooms definitely need to be updated. Furniture is old and rooms look gloomy.
