Wonderful location and lovely accommodations truly provide The Great Escape.
Recentemente ho visto qualcuno che indossa una maglietta che diceva "preferirei essere in montagna". Senza scherzare ho pensato. Le montagne dove le stelle sono più luminose, l'aria è più pulita e la quiete è ancora più tranquilla. Che ti tenta di fare "La Grande Fuga"? Questa bella casa costruita su misura è attrezzata per divertimento in famiglia in ogni stagione. Bikers, escursionisti, nautici, panettieri e anche patate divano amano la posizione in ogni stagione. Gli ospiti potranno usufruire di WIFI, di più TV, di due camini a gas e di una vasca idromassaggio all'aperto. Il piano aperto rende cucina, sala da pranzo, visite e TV guardando tutti gli eventi sociali. Very spacious house in a beautiful area but it could use some updating and a deep cleaning. Appliance feel tacky as do the cabinet handles. Many of the windows are missing the cranks to open them, screens are dirty and have holes. The sliding door off the kitchen will not lock. The front steps are in bad condition and dangerous. There is no railing on the basement steps.
The quality of the paper towels and toilet paper could be upgraded and more could be provided.
Also the main floor beds could be upgraded to kings or queens.
As I said the house is spacious and in a beautiful setting. It met our needs but could be a lot nicer with a little TLC!

House was clean and everything in good working order. The floorpan works well for larger groups with plenty of sleeping space for kids in basement and loft. It is a short drive to the ski lodge, or walkable if parking is an issue.

This was our 3rd year in this rental. We love all the extra room for our big family ski trip. The location is within walking distance to the lodge. We can also access the slips from here. The house is showing its age and can use some repairs.

The location is easy to access existing trails and numerous venues in CV. It is a large accommodating cabin with and plenty of indoor and outdoor gathering spaces. There were 12 individual beds and none were bunk beds. Several of the mattresses may need to be replaced as well as some of the kitchen cookware but didn't impact our enjoying the property.

Very nice, spacious, and convenient home.Very often parking is a problem for over 3 vehicles, but this home could park 5 vehicles without a problem. hot tub was nice, and outside grill was piped directly to gas. Hot water heater was behind locked door, but seemed to be on demand, so hot water was endless.We have been coming to this area for family reunions for many years, and this was one of the best places we have stayed. Thank you very much for sharing your home!

House was filthy , called in with several complaints, no one has responded yet ..very disappointed, supposedly the property manager would get back to me one of the beds in floor ,house hot sticky ,had to wash two of the bedrooms bedding, clean the fridge toilets ,sweep all floors took pictures of broken glass in closet outside

We rented this house for a long weekend of skiing. It's very convenient to the slopes and the ski room in the basement worked out great to store everything. We had 3 families here with kids and there was plenty of space to spread out. The only negative was the tv in the was missing the extension cord, so it didn't work. We will look at booking this house in the future.

The home was great of our group! Four families had plenty of space to relax together and separately. The kitchen was a good size and had many tools, spices, coffee and everyday items that helped us make our meals. Having 4 full bathrooms was great too! The hot tub was used and enjoyed by the adults. The location was great for our skiers/boarders! The downstairs exterior door and mud room was perfect to contain the wet boots and clothes instead of tracking it all in upstairs. Our group hopes to stay there again in the future.

Spacious house with ample sleeping space. 200 ft. walk to Winterset slope made it easy to stop by the house for lunch while skiing. Hot tub was in perfect working order. Basement entry room on the rear of the house was perfect for entry/exit to/from skiing. The only improvement would be to renew some of the mattresses. Some are new and in good condition while others are older and saggy. Overall the house was a good choice.

Great setting for family gathering
Our family vacationed at this property and it was in a perfect location for our daily activities. The house was spacious and accommodated all of us easily. Our only issues were that the home needed a deep cleaning as there were lots of cobwebs and small spiders in every room, a general disorder in the kitchen cabinets, sticky cabinet surfaces and a strong musty odor in the basement spaces. A couple of small repairs need to be done to the tile floor in the shared bathroom on the main level and a stone in the front steps is loose.
The property managers were accessible and helpful. The location was great for our daily excursions to Blackwater Falls, Davis & Thomas and Canaan Valley attractions.

The cabin isn’t well kept: the fireplace in the family room wasn’t working, dishes weren’t clean and some were broken, the beds were all squeaky and uncomfortable, the lower level smelled and felt humid, and there was no cable. Nonetheless, we enjoyed ourselves.

Great location, could use some updates
Location was fantastic for skiing. Adjacent to Timberline resort. Not really private if you’re looking for a romantic getaway, but perfect for a group looking for a nice comfy cabin. The house could use a couple updates, one of them being a deep clean; my allergies really flared up whenever I was in the house. Also, the fire place in the main living room doesn’t stay lit and the hot tub is a bit finicky. But overall we had a great time and we enjoyed the place.

Very Relaxing and Great for the Soul

Great location to great hikes!
This house is located close to popular hiking trails in the area, like Dolly Sods and Canaan Valley Wildlife Refuge. The house itself is large and well-equipped. It was clean and comfortable. We were able to enjoy a nice little bonfire outside. I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a getaway in the summer for some time in the forest!

The Great Escape was a beautiful house, it may not look as such from outside but once you get in is enchanting. The big glass windows allow the light to shine in and one can contemplate nature from the comfort of their reclanible chairs. At night you can see the starts and moon through your window giving you the sensation that you are outside.
The only thing I found unpleasant was the noise of some neighbors. Quiet time is at 11, however there were people that did not respect this rule and if you are outside you can hear their noises and no one came to implement this rule. The noise takes away from the natural sounds surrounding you while you having a fire outside. Once inside I did not hear the noises.
