Unfortunately, my experience at this hotel has been far from satisfactory. There have been ongoing noises in the hallway, including frequent door slamming and loud conversations. These disturbances have been particularly disruptive late at night, with guests showing no consideration for the time and the need for others to sleep. The noise continued well past midnight and till around 2AM, making it impossible for me to rest.

Nothing! With a Capital N

When we turned up the place was like a building site outside with a big hole (boarded up) and a hole in the roof sheeted up. Walked in Gary was polite. Walked up to our room, carpet minging, wife wouldn't touch hand rails and outdated everywhere. Shown our room, like a sauna, window doesn't open and if you had a cat you would not try to seeing it! Didn't even unpack. Left suitcase on bed and went for a walk to clear head. Wife and I didn't speak and when we got to a bar sat with a beer. My wife was close to tears at the thought of staying there and was going to just leave and go home. This is not the romantic night we had planned as we don't get many and this was beyond ruined. Went back on Booking.com and had a look at another place. Went to look at The Royal Bar & Shaker to see if we could look at the room they had on there. Was 120% better, so much so we booked in there. Walked straight up to get my case for The Clifton with the wife, posted key in the box and left. Went back to The Royal Bar & Shaker and was blown away by the bar, room and also the Breakfast in the morning. Very polite staff and owner who couldn't do enough for us. Never again will we set foot back in The Clifton and if we could get our money back I would like to know how. This place nearly ended up in me getting a divorce! The Royal Bar & Shaker saved the who night away and my marriage. You need to give this place a 10/10 rating!

Stuff was ok. Breakfast just fine.

The owner behaved unprofessionally. One of the rooms was so small, no room for anything. He tried to hide it. He would not let the occupants to visit other rooms. The hotel should not have been opened before renovation.

Lovely place for over night stop

My motorcycle has been stolen from the patio of this property last night 02/06 The property claims to have 24 hour security and cctv. In fact it has neither. Another motorcycle was also stolen from this property last night. Do not leave your motorcycle here. There was no mention of leaving it at my own risk. It was clear that they had adequate security as mentioned on the website

The staff were very helpful, the rooms were very clean and the breakfast was lovely. Would definitely stay there again.

Great location.

The scaffolding was a surprise on arrival but explanation was given.

The owners were great - super friendly and made us feel welcome right away. We had a sea front room so the view was great. The room was clean and bright.

It's an old building so there is basically no sound proofing between rooms. We could hear when the guests next to us went to the bathroom. However, we bought ear plugs for the second night and it sorted the issue.
