An early 20th century house that had been sympathetically refurbished to a very high standard to make a very comfortable and restful b & b. The owner was a lovely lady who prepared beautiful, tasty breakfasts - easily the best we had while travelling in NZ. Our room opened out onto a lovely garden where we sat and watched native birds coming and going. The location was great, being close to a regular and cheap bus going to Dunedin and, in the other direction, within a short drive to Albatross Centre and the rest of the Otago peninsula. Easily one of the nicest places we stayed during a 2 month tour of NZ.

The restaurants in Portobello were both closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

It was a pleasure to stay at CaptainEadysLookout and join these fantastic views ! Ana way so helpful and made a fantastic breakfast without any yes or no and points to choose! We had a very nice room, a bath and a small room to sit with a fridge as well !

Wonderful house and rooms with lots of attention to detail. Great views from top room and lovely garden view from the room on the ground floor. Fantastic breakfast with fresh fruit, homemade stewed fruit and home-baked goodies. TV lounge room with bar fridge with drinks. Well suited for family with teenagers.

The friendly and helpful hostess at this beautiful house in such a lovely setting. We enjoyed our private space, including the little sitting room. Breakfast was delicious!

The views were wonderful.

The breakfast was delicious and the host Anna is delightful .It’s also a quick walk down to the port to port wildlife cruise.There’s a wide variety of movies you can watch, we would 100 percent recommend it.

Breakfast was really good. Our host was gracious and looked after us very well. The room had a wonderful view of the night sky.

so much character and beautiful views. the host was very nice and the breakfasts amazing. had access to our own lounge, fridge and tv. it is a great base to explore the peninsula from. we would definitely stay here again.

Nothing we can think of

We have stayed in a lot of places during our four years in New Zealand and this was truly one of the highlights. The location is stunning with a large picture window view of the sea and headlands. The location is perfect for trips into Dunedin or visits to the peninsula to see albatrosses, penguins and seals. Cafe and restaurants both within walking distance and the most lovely breakfast each morning - hot or cold or both. Ana and Richard are wonderful hosts - we felt at home but left alone to come and go as we pleased. Perfect.

Ana, the host is lovely and her breakfasts were amazing. The room with the sea view is sooo nice. In the sunshine or the rain!

Perfect relaxing and peaceful getaway on the Peninsula. Lovely hosts, gorgeous views, charming and cozy B&B, amazing breakfast! 20 minute stunning drive from Dunedin city.
