the BEST part was the view of the courtyard with the fireplace and lighting.
only item was the Espresso Machine was not working on level 3 where we stayed......Took elevator to level 2 and 4 then back to our room for coffee.
4.5
Clean, modern, comfortable
A little pricey for the finishes & amenities. Enjoyed our stay though.

This hotel is super cool, hip and has great amenities/rooms/location, etc.
Even the welcome drinks were great..
Staff was very helpful, helped suggest/book tours for us which were VERY worth it!!
The beds could use updating (a bit soft and 'layed in').
3.5
Common areas, restaurants and coffee stations on each floor. Premium location.
The room was tired, cramped, being painted dark blue didn't help. Handle missing from bathroom door. Room service arrived at 5:00PM, very inconvenient as we were showering and dressing for dinner.
4.5
It's a beautiful hotel. Loved the outdoor space with comfortable seating choices and fireplace. Frannie & the Fox had delicious breakfast choices and pizza. We were close to everything - City Market, King Street, East Bay, the Battery. Easily walkable to anywhere.
Ordered room service, pizza, no napkins or utensils.

This well appointed hotel is just flat out gorgeous and the dialed-in decor feels very right now. The restaurant, retail area, furnishings, staff were excellent. The vibe was right and it felt like the 'place to be'. The bedding and pillows were super comfortable! The glassware provided was very nice and the room smelled good and was very clean. The bathroom was well designed and the shower had great pressure. The room's color palette was beautiful and I loved the small velvet sofa in the lounge area. Well done.
For such a cool hotel, I thought the room could have been a little better in terms of lighting and a few other details. The layout of the room is a little awkward with the small sofa in the front. There was a giant tv that was way too big for the space and was set permanently to 'motion smoothing' (all hotels seem to be doing this awful thing now) so the picture was total crap. The lamp was cool but was like an oversized football of light that could not be dimmed. The only other lighting was an overhead that was not very appealing. The record player was a nice touch but it didn't work and the records were fake! Weird. The pouf was too tall for the table so I had to bring the chair in from the bedroom. At night the room was so dark (which is great, but...) it was hard to find the bathroom and when I did find the light it was way too bright (even when dimmed). I pinched my fingers when shutting the sliding bathroom door because I couldn't see the closure very well. I don't know why more hotels don't consider that travelers don't want bright lights in their eyes when they pee in the early morning (or middle of the night like me) but maybe a night light would be helpful. Speaking of which, there was some kind of blinking emergency light going off the whole night in the hallway area of the room as well (maybe it meant the fire alarm battery needed changing?). We were too tired to complain... Normally I wouldn't care about all these things because we would be out of the room wandering the city anyway, but with Covid (and after 6 hours of driving), we were hoping for a more comfortable in-room situation. It would probably benefit the hotel for a designer to 'test run' the room for a full night's experience and give vital feedback that would make the room a 5 star vs a 3... We loved Emeline despite these things, but paying attention to these little details would make it awesome!

Emeline is a beautiful hotel. The design is gorgeous, and I loved all of the added touches. The hotel staff is very friendly and accomodating.
They keep glass bottles in your room to use and fill up at a water station on the second floor instead of bottled waters. While this is a lovely idea, in reality, it was really inconvenient, and I’d rather have had a bottled water available. Or a more central water station that’s easier to get to. But if that’s my only complaint, then I’d say my life is just fine.

The location was amazing. Although there are a lot of nice locations in this district. Restaurants galore and right next to the market. The gym was well equipped. The outdoor seating area at the hotel is very nice. It was nice that they offered a room with two separate bedrooms. Very good for families of 5 or more.
Not a fan of the bar staff at the restaurant. Not all of them of course - some bad apples that have no problem bad mouthing guests to other guests. All other staff were great. The rooms were extremely tight and there was no way to control the temperature. Half the hotel felt very warm while the other very cold.

Great location
Staff unhelpful - we were told we couldn’t have pre dinner drinks at 6pm when the restaurant / bar was half full. Told to use the mezzanine floor and take our drinks up the spiral staircase. We did this but the a/c wasn’t working. We were given a fan to lug up. There isn’t a philosophy of trying to facilitate or make the guest stay special. No one at any stage went out of their way to be helpful or ask if we needed anything.
A $35 daily amenity fee was charged. I wasn’t told about this when I checked in. This is a hotel with a small bar/ restaurant, tiny gym and a pretty decent coffee shop. When I asked what it was for. I was told for the welcome cocktails and captains drinks . Hardly a welcome cocktail if you have to pay for it and I only got the one - the captain’s drinks thing wasn’t mentioned until I checked out. A shambles and a mean trick to get more $ out of guests on the sly.
The gym is tiny with two running machines and a cross trainer. I had to try two or three times on one day to use it because the gym was over crowded.
I stayed four night and was visit by house keeping on the first night who placed my toiletries on a towel by the sink and stole my daughter’s cookie she had left on the table.
There isn’t a coffee machine in the room. I was on the ground floor so had to get in the elevator to use the coffee machine located on the second floor which was invariably not working. I tried six times to make a coffee and managed one cup. There should be a coffee machine in each room. Guests shouldn’t be made to get in the elevator. It wouldn’t be so bad if the machines worked.
The whole experience was just disappointing.

Location was great and the room size was generous. Clerks coffee shop is excellent. Friendly young staff and good coffee.
Staff attitude. We couldn’t get a drink at the bar/ restaurant at 6 pm. Numerous tables were free. We were told to go upstairs to the mezzanine floor - the a/c didn’t work and we had to lug a fan up from reception. Restaurant was closed for lunch and when I asked where I could get a soda was told there was a five and some round the corner.
We didn’t have housekeeping once in the four days we were there. We had the privacy sign on the door until 11 am or so but no one ever came afterwards.
There is a $ 35 daily amenity fee charged. I wasn’t told about it at check in. When I asked about it at check out I was told it was for the welcome cocktail - not much of a welcome if they charge for you and captains drinks - at 5 which again no one told me about.
The hotel thinks it’s something it could be if they put the clients’ needs first, provided proper house keeping and had a larger bar space. The hostess at the restaurant was particularly unhelpful/unpleasant.
5.0
The hotel was spotless, luxurious, and located close to everything. The decor was beautiful and the bathroom was gorgeous. We also appreciated the coffee/tea and fruit station on each floor.
The view from our luxurious suite was of a parking garage wall. It’s not the hotel’s fault, but it didn’t exactly elevate the experience.
2.5
Valet workers were nice and process was efficient.
Upkeep of this place is terrible. They tout these benefits and then they don’t work. The water stations were broken. Ice station was never refilled on multiple floors. Phone was broken in the room. No towels added to the gym for two days. Found a year old rotting apple under the tv stand. Avocado toast came out brown but at least the server was great and removed it from the bill without us even requesting. The lamp in the living area was barely hanging- two screws were loose. Just no thought in this place. My sister also stayed here and they ended up leaving at 1am because their air conditioner didn’t work and they couldn’t fix it- they came back to their room with a ladder just left in there. Crazy!

Mooie rustige kamer.
Enorme drukte en hectiek bij ontvangst. Personeel gehaast en gestresst. Diner al volgeboekt bij aankomst. Je kunt om de hoek heel eenvoudig parkeren maar er wordt geprobeerd om valetparking op te dringen.

Modern. Great vibe. Great location. Good food to order up to room.
Very expensive to have your dogs. $200 which is ridiculous. We were there one night!

I liked having the coffee station close to the room. The decor of the hotel is beautiful! The location is perfect for exploring Charleston.
The air conditioner was extremely loud in my room. That was really the only problem. It rattled loudly especially at night.

Nothing!

Great location in the historic district, could walk everywhere. Rooms were big and bed was super comfy. The coffee/tea station on each floor with a sparkling water tap was a bonus!
We were never told what the cost was for valet parking and although it was stated as $36/day in the information package in the room, it was actually charged as $56/day. When I queried that upon checkout they told me it had always been that amount. I didn't like getting that surprise at checkout when I really couldn't do anything about it and the reception staff were clearly not interested in my complaint.

Beds very comfortable, nice coffee machine on the floor for use, bathroom/shower very nice with good products
tried calling several times to let them know i would be checking in late- no one answered. For the price of the room it would be nice if parking were included, room somewhat dark - better lights next to bed would be nice
