Double room (and bathroom) size was less than expected. I'm not sure that when I booked on booking.com that the room description was actually described as "Double room-Budget-Ensuite with Shower-No view ", but that's what came on the hotel confirmation AFTER payment. When I then queried it direct with the hotel, I was told that I had booked a "budget no view" room and an upgrade to a "standard" room would be a room rate increase from 60 to 100 per night. I said no need. Then I checked the other emails (post booking) from Booking.com wherein it confirmed that an upgrade (loyalty program) had been applied......so I checked back with the hotel and they said the error was made by booking.com, but that they would apply an upgrade to me (free), and they apologized for the error of booking.com. On arrival, climbing a rather narrow steep staircase with bags, I was very disappointed with the room size and immediately mailed the hotel (there's no reception counter). I also pointed out the bad smell in the room and informed them that I had opened the windows for ventilation. The reply email simply said that my room was the upgraded 'standard room' and that they could not identify any smell in the room. In short, if that's a standard room, I would hate to stay in the "budget no view" room. and I think that the smells were very apparent, and were probably TVOC's (chemical odours) typically oozing out from the furniture or (new) carpets. I expect that the small shower would be unsuitable for a less mobile/larger person (say 95kg+) as the folding shower door does not fully open, and the shower tray is probably the smallest. Shower hose leaked a bit. The wash basin is also the small type with a small shelf. The (small but adequate) wardrobe door does not fully upon as it contacts the small dressing table.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable with everything you would need for an overnight stay. The location was very good too. All in all a good place to stay and would use again.

The room was lovely and clean and bed super comfortable. Although breakfast was not available, there were cafes within a couple minutes walk. The accommodation was an ideal location to local amenities, pubs and bars etc

Wi-Fi wasn’t that good and the heating did really warm the whole of the room.

Stayed a few weeks ago, night out in Southport again, so booked Peaky blinders again, not disappointed, even better than before as room was bigger and the outlook was Lord St, looked fab in the evening with all the lights. Very comfortable bed. Adam checked us in, really pleasant and helpful, wouldn't stay anywhere else, great value for money.

The bathroom is very small with a sliding door into the bedroom literally at the side of the bed other than that the room was a good standard and in the heart of Southport all you need for a one night stay 🤗

Got room 15 back of hotel. Very small. Kept awake all night with what sounded like pigeons in the loft! Awful.

Staff were great and so friendly. The room was clean and comfy, ideal for our stay.

Accommodation. Budget room poor. Small and lacked basic facilities. Shower had no hand rails or soap shelf. Water slow to drain away and almost overflowing the shower tray. No shelf's or toiletries storage. Sink plug broken and toilet seat not fixed properly. Only one small tub chair and no table in the room. Only a small desk which had the tea, coffee and kettle on. Mirror in the room was fixed too high on the wall and the plug sockets were hidden behind the furniture. Wallpaper peeling off. No view from the window as frosted glass. Duvet too big and heavy weight.
