The property is waterfront, but also has a plot a sand the kiddos have to cross before the ocean, which was a huge piece of mind for safety. The property manager is also awesome! Highly recommend for any family looking for a beach vacation!

We loved our stay at the home! Easy access, great location and wonderful home with lots of space! We loved the back deck as well. Nothing fancy, but still a great home! Would recommend :) I would recommend the property manager repair the wooden landing to the beach.

We enjoyed our stay, the view was wonderful and the deck off the back was nice. Our son loved the sand! This is an older home that needs some updates but that’s the rustic charm as described.

Plenty of room and very comfortable. Family members came to visit us on Christmas Day and enjoyed their visit. They lived in Norfolk so they didn’t stay at the house but easily could have. The house can easily handle 10 plus overnight guests.

We loved how close we were to the water, our house was clean. How ever we felt that the basement space was not usable do to the musty/ wet smell. Overall a good experience

Rustic Beach Cottage is what we were looking for our family vacation. Able to be on the sand & water in minutes. Great family time.

My family really enjoyed this property. The house was clean. It is not the Hilton. It is a simple, older style house with a lot of room. You could sleep ten in here easily. There was a bassinette which was very helpful for our two year old son. The ocean is only 100 feet away, and it was not crowded. My wife was worried reading a few of the ratings. We found them to be very inaccurate. You can't please everyone. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

I spent the weekend here with my guys and it was fantastic. Pretty simple house, not fancy but it has everything we need for a good weekend at the beach, and for a fair price. Would definitely return here in the future.

The house was located right on the beach, which was great, but the house itself was very disappointing for what we were charged. You rent a house expecting to have all the essentials in the kitchen, but the kitchen was pathetic! The owners really need to invest in some plates, glasses and some utensils and perhaps put some money into the house by doing some updates. The dishwasher bottom rack was broken, the drawers in the fridge were broken, the ice machine was broken, the sinks in both bathrooms had issues and the steps leading to the basement are just an accident waiting to happen. And beware if you are allergic to bees (my daughter is) and there are nests under the deck. The owners would know this if they spent anytime cleaning up the property. The plus and only plus to this house was that it was right on the beach and had a great view. I'm sick over what I what I paid, for just a view. Yes, there were pictures, but the pictures didn't show all the broken items and how run down the house is. We were a party of 7, so going out to dinner every night was not an option, but cooking in the kitchen was painful. If you plan to rent you should pack as if you were going camping. I was not as prepared. Lower what you are charging, because you are robbing people out of their hard earned money.

My husband and I wanted to spend the weekend away. We brought our dog too. It is right on the beach over a sand dune. The beach is quiet and private. The rental was perfect for us! Clean and perfect if you plan to spend most of the time at the beach. The deck was also very nice and we used it in the evenings. Will stay again!

Very unclean and outdated with rusty ac units, dusty curtains and unfinished flooring. Groundsmen gave hard time even though parking instructions were given prior to arrival.

There is a constant leak in one bathroom, no hot water in the sink of one bathroom, a broken picture on the wall. We are older women and the beach access is a tough walk we actually had to use the access from the neighbors due to the condition of ours. This property definitely needs some work.

We came from different parts of the country to join and celebrate start of new family recently relocated to Norfolk. The beach, surf, sand was just lovely. The house was something from the 70s or earlier frozen in time. If I had a ton of little kids with me and was getting my brothers and young families together it might have been perfect. It was not great for elders. Steps and railings and deck rickety. Chairs broken and no shade. Nonfunctional hot water faucet in bathroom. Odd, tired bits throughout house. The bath to the beach also a bit challenging for elders. Not as well stocked in kitchen as other VRBO offerings. And quite pricey Next time I will stay downtown and save my beach dollars for Outerbanks or elsewhere.

The beach location is perfect and it is a cute rustic beach house. That being said, attention to amenities, supplies, and some repairs could make it an awesome experience. Owners or managers should spend some time there and review what would make guests more comfortable and experience what would make this place a winning experience.

We had such a great experience from the day we booked it until we finished our vacation. The owners were incredible to speak with through email and messaging. The house was exactly how it was described. Very rustic but incredible beach view and the deck was incredible. Would book again for a typical beach house. Thank you!

It was a excellent stay looks just like the pictures and the fact that your literally on the beach makes it even better it was very peaceful i would recommend if your looking for quiet get away or just a family get away with the children

We chose this place for its size and proximity to the beach; however, upon arriving we had only enough utensils for 5 people, limited plates, only 2 adult chairs on the deck, and still only one light bulb over the table (which we noticed in a review from February had been complained about). When we contacted the property manager about the insufficient furnishings, help came later the next day, 2 hrs. after the proposed time. We were disappointed with the attitude of the property manager who made us feel like we were too demanding for expecting furnishings to match the sleeping capacity. All in all, the property has much potential and the oldness is charming and it gets 5 stars for cleanliness.

My family of five was very comfortable in this beach house. You can find closer beach access and the views from the deck were beautiful. The kids had a great time picking their rooms and there was plenty of room for family together time and quiet places to seclude. Loved it!!

We booked a weekend getaway for our family of 4. The place is very large! It could easily fit at least 10 people. We lucked out with great weather for February and the kids and dog were able to fully take advantage of the direct beach access behind the property. It is an older house but everything was functional and very clean. We would love to come back again!

First off, if you want to be on the beach, you cannot be any closer! Walk out the door, turn left and you are almost on the beach. The downside - this is an older house that has not had much in the way of updates. Good things - great parking. The living area is great. It is open with good seating, new TV. There are only 2 small bathrooms, not updated, one without electric outlets. The master has a great view of the beach, but it and the bedroom next to it are very cool compared to the living area (we visited in winter). There are other minor issues - the light fixture in the dining room had only 1 of 3 bulbs working with none in the house to replace them (the property manager did offer to come over and replace them very quickly when we mentioned it). The dishwasher doesn’t fit well in the cabinet space in the kitchen. It requires some manipulation to open or close the door. In short, great location for beach access in a nice, quiet area. Great gathering area. But an outdated home with minor annoyances throughout.

The house was spacious with plenty of room for a large family. The location was spectacular. Couldn't get any better if your goal is to spend time on the beach with great views and direct access. House is adequate and fairly priced. Can use some updates but has a comfortable feel.

For a family vacation at a beachfront location, it was especially convenient. We enjoyed the private access to the beach. Description was accurate. House is on the older side; has it's cricks and creaks, excessive wear and tear. Hosts are responsive. I was expecting seating on the deck according to photos, no such seating existed. Maybe bring your own chairs? Some things were puzzling upon arrival.... like if we needed garbage bags or paper towels or toilet paper or laundry detergent, I wish I would have known ahead of time. Luckily, there are a few stores locally to obtain these items with ease. Washer and dryer 👌

Absolutely recommend! The place inside was perfect for my fiance and our 12 year old and her friend. Talked to the owners about a few minor things. A little updating when off season comes and they said they will be taking care of it. We all had a wonderful time. Used the canoe and kayak. Amazing to go so far out and see the dolphins right beside us. The only problem we had is we didn't want to leave!

This house is all about beach access. You literally are a short walk over a sand dune and arrive at the beach. We had the beach almost entirely to ourselves on one of the days we stayed. You are also in walking distance to a great local brewery. The house is an older home, but is super clean. It also has an excellent living room with a Smart TV. We enjoyed watching movies as a family after spending the day at the beach. If watching the moon rise over the Bay Bridge is your thing, this cottage is for you.
