Hummingbird Cottage was a great getaway. The house was comfortable and nice. The kitchen was well stocked, the front porch was wonderful right on the park, and the back deck was perfect for grilling. The location on the park and near the beach and restaurants was the best possible. The bath/shower in the second bedroom was the weak spot. It doesn’t drain well at all, the shower curtain hung narrowly around a claw tub leaves no room to not have it clinging to you and covers the shelves to put toiletries. We all ended up sharing the master shower. Otherwise it was lovely!

Our family of 4 with 2 young children enjoyed our stay in Cape Charles, especially the park access and front porch! The space worked really well for us overall. Our only 2 complaints were zero communication in response to inquiries in advance of our stay (both through vrbo and the property manager's email directly) and the HVAC system should be serviced.

Lovely, well appointed cottage adjacent to the park. Our adult children and their families stayed at a big house near the beach. Hummingbird was a quiet retreat for us grandparents - minus the chaos of 4 kids under 10 years old.

Our family of three really enjoyed our week at the Hummingbird Cottage! It’s right across from the park and a short walk to the beach. Also a few blocks from the main street with lots of local shops and restaurants. The open concept living room was cozy and we loved hanging out on the back porch. The only drawback was not having an outdoor shower for when you come back from the beach. We miss Cape Charles already!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Hummingbird Cottage. It was so well located, right on the park, 5 minute walk to main drag (Mason Street), and 5 minute walk to the beach. The house is perfect for a family of four. The one level, open concept floor plan made watching the kids easy while we cooked and cleaned. We loved that we could walk right out and take our kids to the playground or a walk around the park.
The house is also so adorable. Every room was nicely decorated. They really thought of every cute little detail. It was a very nice mix of modern and antique like touches. The kitchen had modern appliances and was a pleasure to cook dinner in.
We loved sitting on the back porch at night and our kids loved running around the little backyard. There is a grill to use but we didn’t end up using it during our stay.
If you visit Cape Charles and have a small family I highly recommend you stay at the Hummingbird cottage. You won’t regret it!

Right away, we were impressed with the cleanliness and the tasteful style, making this feel more like a home than a rental. It felt very cozy and intimate, perfect for our family with little kids. The location across the park and near the playground was a plus. As was being four short blocks from the beach and Main Street. The house was really well stocked with extra paper goods, and the kitchen had all the knives, pots, bowls, dishes and glasses one would ever need. We will be back next year!

My husband and I stayed in the Hummingbird Cottage with our 3 year old. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The cottage was clean and the perfect amount of space for the 3 of us. It was fully stocked with all the necessities and everything we needed for our stay. The location was perfect!

This is one of the nicest, cleanest, well-appointed vacation rentals we’ve ever booked. The owners and property managers have gone far beyond the basics to make this house special. Especially for a couple. Staying on the park rather than waterfront is actually better in walkable/bikeable Cape Charles. The front and back porches are lovely and comfortable for relaxing, the interior furniture is comfortable, and the interior design is thoughtful. Only bad experience was at Ambrogia restaurant. The owner is foul-mouthed and nasty. When we told another restaurant owner about our experience there they said, “Yes, not surprising. [Ambrogia Owner] is not a nice human being.” Avoid at all costs!

The location of Hummingbird cottage is excellent for families with young kids as it faces the town park. We had an issue with ants in the living room on the first day which made it difficult to sit on the sofa. The property management company responded quickly but the ants were still around for the length of our trip. Most of the home was neat and clean and well-appointed. The furniture on the back deck has not been swept and was not clean. I recommend installing an outdoor shower for guests to rinse sand off after the beach. We used the hose in the backyard. Worked ok.

Best Location in Cape Charles!
Perfect spot for a family with small children. You are right across from Central Park that has a great playground, and easy walking distance to downtown. We stayed there in the winter so didn’t go to the beach but there is a gas fireplace inside so it was ideal. Kitchen is well stocked (bring your own seasonings and oils). They have cable and good wifi but you’ll need to use your own devices to watch Netflix, Hulu, etc.

The covered front porch looked onto the park, and the back patio was well furnished. The property management company, Chesapeake Properties, couldn't have been nicer or more helpful! Adorable and Cozy Cottage
We loved our stay at Hummingbird Cottage! It is adorable and character-filled, with high ceilings and bright and fresh decor. Beds were super comfy, and it served as a great home base for lots of adventures in the area throughout the week. We loved the deck and backyard area, and the shed was super handy for storing our bikes and beach gear. Kitchen worked well for preparing meals and snacks. All in all, it was a fabulous stay for a family of four, and we would definitely return. Thank you!!

Cape Charles is a beautiful place to vacation. Lots of things to do and great places to eat. Don't miss the Bakery and Brown Dog Ice Cream. The 2 bedroom Hummingbird Cottage is updated, light and airy. The floors are uneven, probably due to the houses age and the cleaning wasn't spotless. Has lots of beach stuff, a nice furnished deck and there's a canoe (no paddle) for guests use. The park is across the street and it's conveniently located to the beach and restaurants. The second bedroom shower is a shower curtain around a claw foot tub. Very tight and not friendly to use unless you are very agile. Still, we enjoyed the vacation very much and liked the place overall.

My family and I fell in love with Cape Charles during our stay. Overall, the house was amazing; however lacked a few essentials for our stay. We ended up having to purchase a cutting board, Tupperware, and zip lock bags. The knives were dull and there was not a sharpener. The beds were so comfortable, but the towels were very scratchy. But all of that is just little things that could improve the stay. Overall we were very satisfied and would book the house again.

This beach bungalow was the perfect size for a family with one or two children. The location right on the park was ideal and it was walking distance to all the charming vendors as well as the beach.
