The place is literally what it is, we love post-industrial decay so we loved much more than staying in a boring hotel. Super effective communication with the host and clear directions made us feel secure even with booking the room even just hours before turning up. Surprisingly well reachable by train. Host is lovely and goes the extra mile to have our needs cartered, I could wash my clothes in the middle of the night and we got a breakfast beyond expectations
Room was a bit cold in the heavy winter even with the extra heater we got but we got extra blankets so it was nothing unbearable and with a former industry building there is not anything to do with it, it was as expected.

Serge est un hôte très accueillant, qui prend le temps de bavarder et de tisser le contact.
Pas de surprises sur ce lieu décalé. Tout est clairement expliqué dans l’annonce.

It's a 10/10
It's exactly as described, if you've read the description, then it is exactly that.
So there is no justification to give a lower score.

The hosts were super duper hospitable, and made me feel at home right away. Their hard work transforming one of Charleroi's vacant industrial spaces into a hometel filled with art, color and creativity is well worth supporting, experiencing and energizing with a stay.
I had to ask for the wifi password and how to turn up the heat.

We didn’t use the kitchen option
We have read that this place is special and for open-minded people, and it was fine for us, but we didn’t expect that our room was so dirty: the trashbin was full from previous visitors, it was so dusty like it wasn’t vacumed for a week. We were 4 people and there room wasn’t separate. The awful smell stayed in the room so we slept with open window, and the appartment was next to industrial district. The sheets, blankets and pillows were full of dust so that we slept in outdoor clothes, we weren’t offered towels. Toilets were dirty and smelled awful. If you arrive at night, you won’t be able to go out from the appartment (as we did, because we ordered food delivery), as it is not respected by their rules. On the pictures we could see that this appartment had some nice rooms for booking, but we weren’t the lucky ones. Altough the host was nice and friendly and offered us a refund, we didn’t get any money back, as long as we stayed there only 1 night(we booked 2 nigths).

From the first contact with Serge to the very end, I was very well attended to. I had a small unexpected issue shortly before arriving at the hostel, but I didn't have any communication problems.
When I arrived, I was assisted by Myck, who was very friendly and showed everything with great enthusiasm and politeness. The hostel is a place that has secured a spot in my mind; it's unlike any place I had stayed before. It has an old-school vibe, like taking a trip back in time.
The entire decor of the place transports you to a different reality. Personally, it was one of the best hostels I've ever visited, and I will definitely visit again if I return to the city. My gratitude goes to Sergey and Myck for their hospitality and willingness to help.
Nothing to complain about.

I stayed for one night.
Very hospitable hosts, welcoming atmosphere, artistic energy in the air. Definitely it was worth meeting Sergio, exploring the neighbourhood (you can take good pictures of post-industrial suburbs of Charleroi).
I believe that the dog and the cat of the owner, although hopefully looked after well, should be let out occasionally outside (dog). There was more than one sh*t of the dog on the corridor (easy to step on) and generally the smell was hardly acceptable.
Overall, more like bohemian style but I enjoyed.

The place is exceptional, it was worth seeing and experiencing it.
Special place, full of antique things and artistic details.
Our host Serge is great, providing and warm.
Although in industrial part of the city, the place is organized to be safe for guests (digital passwords to enter a building and room floor).
These are just notes, I'm not saying I don't like these details.
If you need very tidy place to stay, you might choose something else, but everything you use is functional and practical, you feel like visiting a friend.
The location is easy to find but it's in industrial part of the city, it's like visiting a Steel Industry old administration building.
You should come by taxi or rented car.
You can park your car on a parking line in front of the building, the street is busy - lots of traffic, the car is safe on it.

Unusual property, as highlighted by post.
Responsive host.

I have given this place top marks for its originality but be aware that it’s a unique place that you’ll either love or loathe. It’s like getting a private room in a small artistic commune, albeit a commune with only one permanent member and boss. Rooms are very simple and there’s a sense of organised chaos to the shared areas – sheets hang to dry in the middle of the corridor which is lined with suitcases as installation art and other quirky items to peruse. The kitchen-salon is similarly fascinating and – if you make the effort to communicate with fellow guests it’s likely to be a place for memorable conversations. That goes all the more so in chatting with the eccentric (yet highly switched-on) owner, Serge, who might agree to show you his private studio workshop and the view from the (unfenced) rooftop. Serge seems to see life as performance art and if you think of yourself as part of a participant audience then you’ll probably understand something of the spirit of the place.
That’s important because, as the Booking.com description explains pretty clearly, this is somewhere for people who prefer a philosophical chat to a tick list of conveniences or rigorous cleaning. Indeed, you’ll likely get an email after booking to double check that you understand that the rooms are on the fourth floor with no functioning lift, giving you the chance to cancel. Also be aware that to access the toilets requires leaving the main apartment (don’t forget the door code!) and crossing the stairwell to what were public toilets in the days when this was an office building. On nights where the Rockerill next door has concerts (only a couple per month), you’re perfectly located though it would not be so great if you’re a light sleeper wanting an early night as the whole building can vibrate somewhat with the bass till very late. Don’t be surprised to find cats or dogs about the place either. If any of this puts you off, just don’t come. If you want to throw yourself into the experience

I liked the spirit and the kindness of the staff. The room was comfortable. All the antic and artistic pieces all over the place made it extra special and nostalgic. The hostel reminded me of my first dorm at the university in Budapest, which was about 45 years old and felt quite "retro" inside.
During our week-long stay, the owner had a medical emergency and was away for a few days. This time, his little dog seemed confused and peed in multiple spots in the corridor. Even though they were partially cleaned not long after, some parts of the corridor smelled funky until the end of our stay.
I hope this was a one-off; the owner will be well, the dog won't be confused, and the corridor will smell good.

Ghostel is a very unique place. The owner Serge is a very kind and creative person. From the first time i arrived there he was very helpfull and answered every question i had.He also proposed to help me with the transportation to the airport. As for the building.Everything is created by Serge. When you arrive you have the feeling that it is an abandoned place. It suits its role pretty well. From the moment you enter your room you will be happy with the decoration. The best part is when Serge shows you the 5th floor where is a paradise for a creative person. You can find every kind of tool including painting stuff, carpenter stuff, music kits and many more. The decoration there inspires you to create. The only thing that someone can find as a problem is the temperature in the shared spaces. The room was heated very well despite the cold.My overall experience was very good and i hope i will visit ghostel once again!!!!!

Nothing to complain.

I knew what I booked, but it was even cooler than I expected. Serge is a really cool open minded guy with humour and takes care of everyone. He is a wonderful and creative person. The building is kind of his art. Every corner of the building & the room tells some kind of story and looks really good. It may be a little bit rusty and not modern, but it is beautiful in its own way. And the location is also not the newest and very industrial, but it is still beautiful, in its own way. The roof is also a very cool spot to chill and enjoy the view over Charleroi. I loved it! I will definitely come back with friends, this is a lifetime adventure! :)

At first, when we arrived at the location it looked like a spooky abandoned place. But once we entered the 4th floor our opinion changed completely. A really artistic, beautiful home with friendly, welcoming and very flexible staff and this eccentric and funny owner who helped us with everything. A place for people who are seeking something off the standard track. Definitely a place with heart and soul.
