Perfect four our family’s short stay in SF

Reading the most recent reviews after already booking the property, to say we were apprehensive, is an understatement. Speaking with the host prior to our visit reinforced our concern.
HOWEVER, we had 6 family members stay (3 under the age of 7) for two nights and it's a great property. Bathrooms aren't as advertised, BUT, definitely doable. Baking pans are scarce, so know that and bring your own, if needed. Communication with host after our first encounter was fantastic! He was agreeable and helpful for our stay. We were very appreciative.

My family flew in to SF and wanted to see the city for a few days. I was coming up from Monterey and chose emmanuels house. It had 3 bedrooms and plenty of parking. House was very clean. Kitchen was nice big and bright. Beds were amazing! So comfortable! I would highly recommend this house if you want to stay in the city but don’t want to deal with the headache of staying downtown and worry about parking.

The place smelled stale like moth balls - (bought scented candles to burn but they didn’t fix the issue. It’s pretty potent)
counters were dirty. (I wiped them down)
Hundreds of moths. Killed moths every morning when woke up and when we got back before bed. (Owner said he would exterminate while we where there - I said no as that would not be something I am staying in - so he said he was getting an exterminator after we leave - same day a new customer is arriving lol) I know this because I asked for a late check out for the inconvenience- he said no someone was coming to exterminate moths and new customers arriving for early check in this afternoon)
No garbage bins or recycling bins in location so had to leave garbage in bags on the deck

Old food still in the fridge from someone else’s previous stay.
Cob webs all over the house. ( which over time I cleaned as we got tired of walking into them and seeing them)

None of the windows open. Seem to be painted shut. Gross film on all windows throughout house
All the sheets and pillow cases smelled like dirty old dish rags when we arrived. (I went and bought some laundry detergent ( washed them my self)

Not as advertised and misleading photos!! Very disappointing! Moths/flying insects that come out at night even though all the windows were closed (counted 33 bugs on the wall in the main bedroom alone), musty smell as soon as you enter the home (mold?), unusable dishwasher due to the smell when you open it, like something died inside it, lack of simple essentials like kitchen towels, ample extra garbage bags, aluminum foil to store leftovers, dish soap watered down, extra pillow cases so we don’t sleep on the pillow shams (are they really washed each time between guests?), proper size hand towels in the bathrooms and hooks to hang them on (not just unpatched holes where hooks used to be), proper bowls to use for cereal/ice cream, ice trays since the dispenser on the fridge doesn’t work, a shower curtain in the VERY small second bathroom, hooks in that bathroom in the appropriate height/place, and a tub that actually drains while you shower, an advertised washer/dryer that’s locked up, and an outdoor space with no furniture (and unsafe conditions with a missing pane of glass and holes in the cement). The owners response was “this isn’t a 5-star hotel”. The only redeeming quality was a safe neighborhood and ample parking.

The bathrooms in the house were not clean (there was hair in the showers), the towels were moldy smelling and there was no hot water in one of the bathrooms. The beds were not made with proper sheets - it was just a flat sheet draped over the mattresses. I would not recommend staying here.

Light & airy pictures, darker dank in reality.
Many light fixtures not working.
Large bed way too high. Hard go get in and out of. I'm 6' she's not and could not do it safely. Had to sleep separately. Not alot of "at home" attributes. The little things, things you don't have to have, but are nice when available.
Locked up washer and dryer? Don't advertise then.
It had the basics, not much more.
Kitchen was ok, but can't cook without proper utensils, minimal supplies.
I'm not from around SF but are all those little red ants normal?
A lot of road noise starting a 0330.
Of course we're from the country, so a grain of salt.
We did not appreciate how many steps we had to climb to get in with our luggage. Not for us mildly handicapped old people.
All in all, a generous 3/5.

First let me say, we had a great time at this property. This is a small house in the city. Great location. We could walk to restaurants and play pickleball at the playground next store. It had three good size bedrooms, with super comfy beds. Only one real bathroom and shower, as the second bathroom was tiny and only had a toilet. But we managed to make it work, once we figured out how to get the hot water. I finally broke down on the second day and messaged the host, and he responded very quickly with how to get that working.
The kitchen had very few supplies. Only one butter knife and no real plates, only china that could not be microwaved. I would recommend adding a few more supplies in the kitchen.
Also the furniture was a little heavy for the kitchen, old fashioned dining room table with heavy wooden chairs, it seemed out of place, but this is just a suggestion.
Lastly, i would recommend making sure there is full hand soap in the bathrooms. The shampoo and conditioner were almost empty on arrival, but we had brought our own. It's these little things that make a difference.
Overall, great stay, great location, great communication with the host.

It was a perfect getaway weekend!!! We left the car parked in the designated spot and took everything out of the car and we were not broken into and it was there every morning when I woke up. It was a beautiful place. It was a great drop off and sleep spot.

It is difficult to find positive notes to share about this property. We had an extended stay for a family holiday and the experience was not to our expectations.
A few things come to mind.
- The property had a lingering odour of fabric softener, paint and something else which we couldn't describe.
- The only table is a small trestle table, no proper dining table
- Outdoor area seemed unsafe (moved when we walked on it, as well as having multiple large holes in the floor and a missing window)
- Smoke detector fitted right near the stove, making cooking very difficult
- Everything from crockery to towels looks like it's been purchased from Goodwill as cheaply as possible
- Hot water in main bathroom is very tricky and again required us to contact the host (no information provided initially)
- One of the sinks in the main bathroom didn't have a stopper
- Bath in main bathroom smelt of paint and had bits peeling off
- Shower in the smaller bathroom had no shower curtain, making it unusable
- The smaller bathroom itself was quite small, making one wonder if it's even a legal addition (seems to have been made out of a closet)
- We had to clean the sinks and toilets as they had only had a surface clean and were not actually clean
- Lounge area had no ceiling lights, only lamps on the floor.
- The 3rd bedroom could hardly be called a bedroom, it had glass doors with flimsy curtains which were not fully functional, which made sleeping there impossible if there were any lights.

Generally we enjoyed that house. Emmanuel very kindly let us drop our bags early before we took off on our adventures the first day. The house was very clean and the beds were super comfortable. It needs some upgrades to be a really good rental property. There were very few dishes, cookware, and silverware and they were clearly Goodwill type buys. A matching set of dishes, cookware and silverware would really elevate the home. The main bath was roomy with a decent shower. However hot water was hard to come by in the shower. Yes, the second bathroom is tiny but it served our needs. Oh and if you’re the least bit allergic to the scent of fabric softener, you’ll need to air out the beds before using.

Found a dirty washcloth in the bathroom. Water for the bath/shower was quirky to get hot, hot was cold and cold was hot. Hair was all over the floors and bathroom. Thankfully the sheets were clean. Owner was great with communication and location was good.

The home is not completely as described. The homes second bathroom is not sufficient, thats probably why they didnt have a picture of it. I question whether its actually legal or not. Have to shimy by the sink in order to get to the toilet or shower. Looks like the built it with what was a closet.
The kitchen appeared to be sufficient on the surface with the high end appliances however the water wasnt hooked up to the fridge and the backsplash tiles were stick on. Also. Some of the cabinet door handles were not screwed in and thus created some issues.
The larger bathroom wasnt the cleanest and had an unfinished appearance to it. There wasnt any grout in the back splash and the tiling wasnt complete.
Overall, looked like a botched DIY home improvement job.
Cant say we'd recommend this home to our friends or enemies.

We were a group of 5 adults in town for the San Francisco Marathon. This home met our needs perfectly. Any questions or concerns we had were answered immediately. We noticed that many of the things mentioned in previous reviews had been addressed. We would happily stay here again.

Excellent place to stay in San Francisco. The train station is close by and Ubers were readily available to go anywhere. Very nice, spacious house for a family of 5. The neighborhood was very quiet and safe. The owner made sure we had all the necessary info before we got there.We would definitely stay here again if we visit in the future.

The house had many positives including safe, clean, ease of parking, and great communication with the host. The house is a great location, 2 blocks from Muni. Really great 1927 historic house. Nice washer & dryer.
The house has a lot of potential of being a beauty. It is as other have said a bit mismatched with random furnishings. There have been attempts at updating. No television, which was fine with us since we were out and about seeing San Francisco the entire trip.

Great location. House could use some help. Did not use 2nd shower in bedroom it had cobwebs in it.
The Kitchen could use more utensils, pots n pans, dishes, cleaners, towels etc. (we managed). The window on the porch was busted out and needs to be fixed. This house just needs a little TLC. All in All I would rate it a 3.

Photos make it look much better than it is. Needs updating. Smells musty as soon as you walk in. We swatted many moths. Tiling in the hall bath has been left just half-finished. Curtains shown in photos are not there.
"Driveway parking" means park on the street, blocking a sidewalk driveway. Listing says there's an ice maker. Yes, but it can't make ice; fridge is not connected to water. There are no ice trays either.
You don't see any photos of the second bathroom in the listing. It is basically a closet attached to one of the bedrooms.
No linens for the pullout sofa. Had to request.
Owner does not care at all about making guests comfortable. There is a washer and dryer, but no laundry detergent is provided. There is a dishwasher, but no dishwashing detergent, despite host's insistence otherwise. Mismatched towels look like they were picked up second-hand. One trash can in entire home, in kitchen. None in bedrooms or bathrooms.
Shower curtain in hall bath is a temporary one. It kept falling down. Shower floor in there is gross. No bath mat so you be super careful not to slip on the marble floor when you step out. Hot water control in the shower is misaligned; if you put it on H you get cold.
Bulky old spare quilts are piled in weird places in each bedroom, bursting out of the drawers under the bed in one bedroom.
There was no comm from host at all until I called the night before check-in to make sure all was ok.
Glad our stay was only 3 days.

The property has a lot of character and great original architecture. Like previous reviewers stated, more utensils, pots/pans cooking and cleaning items would make it even better. Extra towels, hand towels and paper towels and trash bags would be nice. I try to cook and utilize places with full kitchens whenever possible and it was a little bit of a challenge to cook here.
I had to move my daughter out of the dorms at SFSU so the location was super convenient and parking in the neighborhood was pretty easy. The bathroom sinks in the large bathroom weren’t quite clean and I didn’t realize it until later in the evening when I was getting ready for bed. I had cleaning supplies at my daughters dorm and I meant to bring them back with me to clean the bathroom sinks but it was a long day and I forgot them at the dorm. It was late, so I messaged Emanuel to see if there were extra cleaning supplies on hand and he called me right away. He offered to reimburse me for supplies or he could deliver them to me the next day. I let him know that I would bring my supplies back with me the next day. The bathrooms would benefit from a deep clean. And yes, the second bathroom is a little odd and both tubs are older. Emmanuel was very responsive and noted it was a quick turnaround so his cleaners may have missed things.
All-in-all we had plenty of space and we were very comfortable and would stay here again. The check in and check out process was easy.

Property was clean and had most of what we needed. One of the showers was a bit strange but the hosts were great! Quick with communication and checkin and out were seamless. There is a great outdoor space that could use a few furnishings. We would stay here again! Thanks Emmanuel!

The home was clean, has great views of the ocean from the kitchen, kitchen has plenty of cabinetry space, clean fridge, dishwasher and counter space, love the kitchen table and the china plates displayed well in the cabinet.
All three bedrooms, living room and kitchen are furnished well and especially 2 bedrooms are very spacious. Love the open and airy windows in every room. We had a 2 year old guest who enjoyed playing with the jigsaw puzzle in the living room
Bathrooms - one is very small and the other very spacious with clean counters and cabinets but the tub is old. Great potential if upgraded
Front yard - was not maintained and does not give a good impression when you enter. Great potential for landscape to be upgraded.
Pictures of the home that we went by while choosing the property are a bit deceiving in that they made the house look newer than it truly is in reality.

Place was okay, but musty smelling and very few dishes. Had to run dishwasher everyday just for coffee cups, silverware and plates. Definitely needs to add more dishes. Also suggest giving more access to bath towels and wash clothes. Kleenex and small trash cans in bathrooms would also be great.

This spot was great for our family vacation in San Francisco. Plan to bring some of the basics when you arrive. Paper towels, hand soap, plastic cutlery, disposable plates/bowls. We had just enough towels so it might be worthwhile to bring a couple extras of your own. You might consider renting the garage but we were able to manage with street parking all nights of our stay. All in all this was a great find for our stay in SFO. At this great rate, snatch it up quick before it’s booked.

This property has great potential. It is a great location and the communication was great. The house wasn't stocked with supplies very well and I think it may be because they just started doing this home as a rental. We stayed with 3 of our kids and had our daughter who lives in SF and her friends came over for dinner. The house sleeps 6 but there were only chairs for 4 people. There were amazing appliances but no pans, plates, utensils etc to use to cook with or eat on. My daughter brought a bunch of stuff from her house to use as we did a thank you dinner for her friends. The recommendations I have are as follows, Add hand towels, wash clothes and more regular towels for the bathrooms. Clean bathrooms better, they weren't horrible but there was hair on the shower wall that wasn't ours and the toilet in between the bowl and the tank was dirty. Add pots, pans, utensils, hot pads, more trash bags (there was only 2) etc for cooking meals at the house. Add more seating around the kitchen table, it should seat at least as many as it sleeps. Not necessary but would add so much value to the house to have patio furniture on the amazing deck they have just off the kitchen. This house has a lot of character if it was stocked better it would have been a 5 star. We use home rentals a lot when we travel and I usually cook when we are in them and it was really challenging to do that in this home. All my issues are completely fixable and again I assume this is due to it being a new rental. If these things were fixed we would definitely rent from them again.

Cute house in a cute residential neighborhood. Ocean views. Walkable to restaurants. Quick drive to other parts of the city. Our group was 6 adults and a baby and had just the right amount of space. The house is not the most updated but it has everything we needed for a great visit to SF.

Emmanuel is a great host, very easy to communicate with. The beds are comfortable as well as the home. Could use more kitchen utensils and towels and a pan for the oven. Also missed having a TV in the evening. But would use this home again!

Emmanuel was a great host and communicated with us throughout our stay. Checking in was easy, plenty of parking (hard to come by in SF), bed was comfortable, overall the place was good.

We enjoyed the spacious 3 bedroom for our family of 6. The location was great for families with a park and public transit within walking distance. The owner Emmanuel was very responsive. We enjoyed the coffee, bottled water, soda ,and snacks that were left for us to enjoy. The only thing I would recommend is maybe to include 1 more kitchen towel and washcloths for the bathroom. Great location to enjoy San Francisco!
