Stayed at Scandic Bergen City pre-Hurtigruten cruise, which was an easy walk from hotel. Bed comfy & room had everything we needed. Breakfast buffet was great - wide variety of delicious options. Staff friendly, check-in easy, and price great!

I think it depends which side of the road you end up in. Check in side lovely, other side of the road not so much. Don’t think it was worth the money I paid.

Overall its good

After stays in excellent Scandic properties in Stockholm and Copenhagen on this trip with my mom, the Bergen experience was completely different. While the room was clean and the breakfast buffet delicious, we were put in a separate building across the street from the main hotel building with reception and breakfast. The room was airless, small, overlooked a noisy construction sight, and was at the end of a dark hallway. I mentioned my issues while I stayed there, but since there are so many other Scandic properties, even in Bergen, select another for now other than Scandic "City"

We had a really great stay at Scandic Bergen City. It was excellent value for money. We stayed in a family room which was a really good size and clean. The breakfast had a great selection.

I’ve stayed in a few scandic hotels and this was the worst! There’s no mention of their annex hotel across the street which is in much worse condition than the main property, and that’s where we stayed. Honestly, if you’re in the annex property, you should get a discount. The room felt so outdated and the walls were covered in scrapes and chipped paint, the TV was basically useless, mini fridge was broken, and there was no safe. Walls made of paper, you’re able to hear everything in other rooms and off of the street. Housekeeping cart sits in the hallway all day long. Staff was also not great, and the location really isn’t as central as they’d have you believe. You’re much off spending a little more for a better experience!

Staff very friendly. Whole hotel was spotless. Fridge left in room but doesnt work and no safe. Fortunately a friend who was stayimg had a safe in his room and i was able to use that.

Comfortable for a family trip

The staff is good. The building was old and the rooms were simple, with only showers and curtains.Toilets that are unusually hard to get toilet paper, which is sometimes seen in Europe, are inconvenient. It is a little inconvenient that there are few English channels on TV. Luggage storage requires you to put your luggage in and out of the room by yourself without a lock.

The hotel was very kind as they gave me an upgrade and the two people who checked me in were lovely. The room was nice however there was no partition of the balcony from next door to mine which meant people were allowed to wonder on to my side of the balcony . This wasn’t great considering people could see me coming out of the bathroom and people sat right in front of my bedroom window. When I complained to the hotel about this they said they couldn’t do anything as I had been upgraded and the female receptionist wasn’t very helpful. It also didn’t help the fact the phone in the room wasn’t working so from a safety point of view it wasn’t that great. I think the hotel could do with a bit of a refurb if I’m honest as it is looking quite old now.

The hotel being rated a 4-star hotel is misleading. There are three buildings, with some being newer than others. The initial room we were put in was not reflective of the price, especially with the hole in the bathroom door, the broken shower tile, and unplugged lights. The staff was very nice and accommodating in letting us change the room for the remainder of our stay. However, disappointing that some of the rooms are not updated but still listed as a 4-star hotel.

Staff was great, breakfast was amazing. Fridge didn’t work in our room which sucked but that was the only negative.

Good hotel, but poor selection of tv channels

Our stay was okay one night visit during our trip in Norway. Clean basic hotel in the city. General spaces were furnished and decorated nicely, room was simple. The noises from the street/traffic were surprisingly strong to inside which bothered us a bit. Breakfast was very good and delicious but the setting (tables where food was served etc) was unpractical and confusingly placed, espesially when it was crowded.

The hotel has an excellent buffet for breakfast. I haven’t seen something like this for a while. The staff is very friendly and helpful with directions. Our family will come back to the hotel in the future.

Elevator need oil. You van hear it during the night in your room

Excellent check in, friendly staff. Reception kindly upgraded our room as they said the available one was small. We were VERY pleased with our room (212A). Bar service in the evening was good and breakfast was also efficient, with plenty of choice.

Check in was poor due to a very unwelcoming and sour receptionist. The room and bathroom were shabby and due a major refurbishment. On the only plus side the breakfast was good. I would not stay in a Scandic again after this experience.
