Friendly employees and a nice breakfast buffet. Two surprising parts; - no 24-hour reception, - (maybe it was a mistake), queen-size bed but 90 cm wide duvet on top. I had no power to ask for a proper one, so I settled with it. Also, it would be nicer to have more than one piece of bath towel, even for a one-night stay. There was a very good sunlight and ght control in the room, you could make it very dark when it needs to be.

The service at reception was excellent, very friendly and patient team. I didn’t have breakfast but I know I will next time I stay in Hamburg since I will definitely try to stay here whenever I have business in the city!

Interessantes kleines Hotel

The main building of the hotel is beautiful with a garden at the back where you can sit and relax. The rooms are small, but modern and nice.
My room was in another building, the ‚blue house‘, across the street. The room was very basic and towards the street with a lot of noise at night.

Welcomed by a very pleasant team who seemed genuinely committed to ensuring my comfort. The room was small (and advertised as such) but had everything necessary for a short visit. Location is great: safe, lively and convenient to the hauptbahnhof and city transit. Breakfast was delicious.

This time I stayed in the Blue building. Rooms and building were not as nice as the main building as where I stayed before. The blue building feels like it is not finished. People are friendly.

I got an upgrade on the room - and still it was cramped and more of a hostel than a hotel.....

The hotel consists of 5 different buildings. Check-in was in one building and my room was in another building down the street. There are no elevators and floors start with 0 instead of 1. When I booked my room I noted that I needed a ground floor or 1st floor room due to ACL reconstruction and ankle reconstruction surgery. (My trip to Germany was 3 weeks and I knew my luggage would be heavy.) However, when I checked in I was given a room on the 4th floor. The hotel does not have people to help with luggage. The room did not have air conditioning. Which would have been fine but it was really hot. This hotel is close to a lot of restaurants and the main train station. If I had lighter luggage and it was cooler weather I would have enjoyed my stay much more.

Fantastic location, very pleasant and convenient. Quirky and simple hotel with amazing bathrooms. Lack of air conditioning let it down in the hot summer!

Generally a nice Hotel with cool rooms and a great location. The service - thumbs up.
I had troubles with sleeping, first because of the temperature - it was very hot in the room. They gave me a new and cold room.

I stayed here for three nights and it’s taken me another three to catch up on sleep! AWFUL mattresses, old and cheap. The first night I was awake every hour trying to sleep in a sagging mattress that had my back aching in two hours (I’m 40, fit and usually sleep like a cat). The room was a single in their ‘blue house’ which looked nothing like the pictures of the single on the website. It was so narrow I could barely get my case down the side of the bed- which was subsequently scuffed from everyone else doing the same. It felt like a cheap hostel and I certainly wasn’t spending another night in it! They changed my room with no fuss, and apologised that the rooms in the ‘blue house’ are ‘less recently renovated’. Hmm. The second room was better, though the mattress was still soft and lumpy. I got the feeling this hotel spent their budget on the concrete walls and had run out when it got to the important stuff like mattresses and towels (which were small and thin, just not good quality). I got a ‘special deal’ pre-paid on this site, 250 euros for three nights- the rooms wouldn’t justify the price even with a sleepable mattress but honestly, I’d not sleep there again for any price. It’s a shame! It was otherwise clean and the staff are friendly enough.

Great, recently renovated hotel. No breakfast area due to ongoing renovation. Breakfast area was temporarily moved to cafe nearby. Renovation was done greatly! Nice, new and spacious rooms in good area for great price

As the hotel's dining room was under contruction we were asked to have breakfast at the next door Café Gitane. Breakfast at this place was just excellent.

We loved the breakfast, great choice. The breakfast was prepared with love and passion from two itallians. all staff members are extremely friendly.
The room is great, so much wood around, wooden floor and wooden blinds. perfectly.

We were lucky and had a parking spot direct infront of the hotel. From the hotel you can reach any destination easy by bus which leaves about 100 meters away. You have a lot of bars and restaurants in this area.

Warm welcome from helpful staff. The hotel is characterful and has a friendly atmosphere. The hotel is quite quirky, but in a good way. The decor feels a bit tired in places - the photographer did a good job! - and the entrance to the blue building is slightly stark/industrial feeling. The facilities in the rooms are also pared back - no hairdryer, kettle, plain blackout material curtain etc - but there was an umbrella (a nice touch as you have to cross the street for breakfast) and there was complimentary bottled water. Single duvets on double beds was interesting, although not a problem as our bookings were for single occupants of each room. Beds were comfortable and we both slept well. The surrounding area had plenty of interesting places at which to eat - we opted for Cox's, which turned out to be a good choice. They accept only Maestro, American Express and cash, but were relaxed about me popping out to the nearby cash point at the end of the meal. The hotel is an easy 15 minute walk into the centre with the picturesque lake nearby. I would stay there again.

Room was designed using a lot of wood, quite pleasant, but nothing fancy. Beds are comfortable. Rooms are nicer than the lobby or hotel itself, which is quite basic.

This is a gem of a hotel and deserves a much higher rating from my experience. It is perfectly located, clean, comfortable and has very good staff.
I would go back.

A very short visit as I was traveling further north. Arrived late to a warm welcome & fell wearily into a warm, comfortable bed. Facilities and services were of a high standard.
The only minus, which did not affect me, was the two flights of stairs, and then the further flight down into the room. This could have been a major problem for anyone without my level of fitness.
I would stay at this hotel again.

Although noted on their website, the hotel consists of several different buildings rather than a single building. I hadn't noticed this and was surprised. Also, there aren't any elevators, and the first room they have me was across the street and on the 4th floor. When I explained that I have leg and ankle problems, they graciously and quickly changed my room to the ground floor of the building. Although the room was adequate, the hallways was drab and unpleasant. The staff were very kind and helpful, and the breakfast service and staff were very nice. The main building has a beautiful garden and the lobby serves as a bookstore where noted authors give readings. The hotel is less than a block and a half away from a lively street (Langereihe) with lots of interesting restaurants, and it's only a short walk or one bus stop away from the main train station. Since I prefer to have all rooms in the same building and because I also rely on having an elevator, I wouldn't be able to stay there again. Nevertheless, the hotel has a number advantages. The Alster (lake or river) is only about a block away but not visible from most of the rooms.

Great hotel in a great city. It's not a traditional hotel, the rooms are all in different houses on one street. Ours was a lovely room in the yellow house which was very comfortable (fluffy duvet and very powerful shower).
Breakfast was yummy with lots of choice of good quality ingredients.
The area is lovely, lots of bars and restaurants and walking distance to the main station.
Thank you
