We only stayed one night in this lovely hotel after returning to Lisbon from Porto. Our flight home was the next morning. If I had known how lovely it was I would have returned a day earlier so we could spend another night in this wonderful hotel. It was tucked away on a small street in the Alfama neighborhood. The inside of the property was amazing! There was a center courtyard with tables and chairs for seating and peacocks wandering around! It was so peaceful! The hotel is right next to the Castelo de Sao Jorge. If you enjoy small boutique hotels, I highly recommend this one!

Beautiful hotel and wonderful delightful staff.
Room service options could be improved significantly though. Would have been great to have had a tea pot and/or coffee machine available in the room.
The complimentary airport transport to the hotel was excellent. Although it would be great for the guest to have the option to choose the return transport to the airport instead if need be.

This is a nice hotel with a great staff! The front desk people are very helpful and the breakfast buffet has good options. The only thing to consider it’s a hike up to the hotel other than that Enjoy!

Henry was amazing! Never have I enjoyed checking into a hotel so much. He ia extremely knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating, and ensures your safety when leaving the hotel to venture out into the city! Bravo.

Pros:
A hotel with a lot of history, built in former Castle kitchen. Great breakfast, a tiny soaking pool, but enough to cool off, great courtyard with many sitting areas, a private museum.
Cons:
Once you climb up the entire hill to get there, you don't want to go anywhere, so arrive late.
No Uber, only city taxi and resident vehicles allowed. It still is walkable to restaurants and attractions, but there is a street with 135

Gorgeous property on the Castel do Jorge property. The peacocks were beautiful and added to the ambience of the property. The staff were above and beyond expectations. Do not bring a car, you cannot drive up to this hotel, although some taxi's have access - check before you get in the taxi. Where sneakers in this entire area. It is beautiful, lots of restaurants and shopping, but all on a steep incline.

Would stay here again in a heartbeat! Front desk folks amazing. Breakfast until NOON, including Champagne. Always something wonderful to snack on. In the evening more champagne. Room was fine ; bed very comfortable. Just remember to bring your earplugs as the peacocks are extremely loud. One loved to sit on my balcony. Good pictures.

My 12 year old son and I have just come back from a wonderful short break at this Hotel. It is simply stunning and the staff couldn’t be more welcoming. It is in the hilliest part of the city but we didn’t mind the steep walk to the nearby bus stop. The public transport is very easy to navigate and great fun. I highly recommend you stay in this little oasis of peace as it mixes perfectly with the bustling streets below. Many thanks Kirsten

Property is gorgeous and I was drawn to it being part of the old castle. But it is up on the Alana hill and not all taxi or Uber drivers will take you all the way to hotel. Book airport shuttle service through the hotel if possible.
There are also peacocks around the hotel that are very loud and act like a roaster waking you up early in the morning.

Beautiful hotel near the castle. The staff were very friendly and helpful. If you plan to stay here, you will need to be comfortable with the peacock noises in the early morning and sometimes during the night. It didn’t bother me at all since I had a white noise machine, but I did hear another guest complain about it.
Overall, a beautiful place and I would stay here again.

The boutique hotel is practically in the castle. The hotel made transport from the airport very easy, but be sure to arrange with them prior to arriving.
You will be staying in the old town area, so expect narrow streets, and much walking. The 737 bus picks up right outside the Castle, and is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Many shops, and very good restaurants are close by.
In the morning, the hotel has quite a good breakfast spread, so plan on including that with your stay.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Ms. Bento was particularly helpful when we booked an excursion to Sintas.
A multitude of peacocks reside in and around the Castle, and provide daily shows of their vibrant plumage.
Really enjoyed the experience.

This hotel is not friendly. When we arrived at the intercom on the street we were told we would have to walk 100 meters uphill with our suitcases to the enterance although there was a driveway the Uber driver was told no exceptions. My wife has a serious lung disease and can not walk up hills or steps. We went to another hotel called Magdalena which was very good The Solar Hotel refused to give me a refund even though it was impossible for us to reach the hotel from the intercom station. They claim this is a 4 or 5 star hotel I say they are dishonest.

The property is absolutely beautiful and historic. It was a lovely way to end our trip. Be aware that you cannot park a car near the hotel, so, if you have a rental car, etc., you will need to park over 20 min taxi ride away at a sister property, and take a taxi to and from the hotel. The cost is covered by the hotel one way, but not for the return fare. Next time, we would return the rental before staying at the hotel. Everyone there is warm and the beds were extremely comfortable. Highly recommend!

This property is next to the castle and a perfect location to explore that area. And all of Lisbon if you can manage the hills. I had a long and late tourney to get there from Canada. As I filled out the forms I mentioned that it was my birthday - a little bit later they delivered sparkling wine to my room. A really nice touch!

This is a very charming and unique hotel, located just next to the castle. Staff are friendly and helpful. The location is excellent for many attractions of Lisbon. It’s a pleasant though uphill walk to reach the place (alternatively, taxis can access but not uber due to the historic district).

The staff is amazing and respects privacy. The complimentary breakfast and snacks all day we a great addition to a long day of sight seeing. The facilities were impeccable and clean. Rooms are updated and they even provided charging stations. The hotel is an extension of the castle and feels like you are in the era. Love the surroundings of original structures. Restaurants are very close and food is amazing. There are beautiful peacocks everywhere which adds to the serenity of the place. Highly recommend staying here and worth every euro!!!
