Premium room with Balcony. Great location and views, but that’s about all. Nice enough B&B (not really a hotel). £250 per night would be £80 if not for view. 2 sleepless nights due to basic bedding…. slatted bed frame with a 10cm mattress which was harder than the floor. Style but no substance sadly. Other than a coffee machine in room, I could see no Premium additions?

Beautiful hotel right on the bay in Lugano. Area is quite busy but plenty of dining and shopping options all around. You can’t get a better view!! Staff were all very helpful and friendly and reception manned 24 hrs.

What a beautiful property, it is centrally located located next to the lake, shops and restaurants - walking distance to them all. I would definitely stay in this hotel again on my next trip.

We stayed for one night; the very nice lady (with the glasses) checked us in and was very helpful. The room was perfect; the hotel was in a perfect location, by the lake and the old town. Underground parking was nearby. A perfect stay. thank you

The location has the best view. The room for what we paid was expensive and very small. Breakfast was included but parking was quite a ways away and was expensive. They did provide a discounted voucher but not by much.

Lovely experience with my elderly parents. Elevator, close to shops and restaurants, boat tours and even the little trolley tour. Highly recommend.

How quaint and charming this hotel is. Good lift. Breakfast was excellent fresh fruit salad bread very good. Small rooms but the little balconies are wonderful. Great people watching along the lake. Lots of wonderful restaurants close by.

This is a five star facility. The rooms are terrific, due to the layout all are facing the water. Some with a balcony. The location is just perfect, right on the water and in the center of town. And they have a very complete breakfast. One of my personal favorite hotels anywhere.

The hotel is a nice place in front of the lake. So beautiful that you wanted to stay in the terrace and enjoy the view .

The hotel itself is a neat, vintage building that does a good job of delivering an authentic-feeling "Old World" experience, and the service matched. The staff was professional and cared about assisting with questions, requests, etc. Very good. We would stay there again and therefore recommend it to others planning a trip to Lugano.

We have a great stay in visiting Lugano for the very first time what an amazing place. We stayed mid Dec just as all the xmas festivities were getting under way. Walter au Lac is brilliantly positioned right at the centre of the lake front with everything within 5 mins walk

We stayed only 1 night and loved this hotel. Location was perfect and we had a beautiful view of the lake. Our room was spacious and beds very comfortable. There was a balcony door also. Staff were lovely & welcoming. Location was perfect and easy to access.

For the cost and star rating it was a bit disappointing.
Breakfast was good, staff were nice and reception was helpful but the room was dated, mouldy, had smelly plumbing from the shower drains and really let it down. Generally the hotel has a great location with easy funicular access. Could be a gem of a hotel if they updated their rooms.

Stayed 2 nights. Our room was 31 and it had a great view overlooking the lake. Good location for restaurants and walking around town. It was an easy beautiful walk (less then 2 miles) to the funicular, which is a must. The breakfast was very good, with a variety to choose from. The staff was friendly. One thing we did not know is the hotel has a coupon book to get 20-30% off on activities. A side note… the taxi drivers will rip you off. Make sure they turn the meter on.
