Very spacious, close to hwy, love the pool, very clean, great customer service. Memphis is very friendly and welcoming I will stay here again

The room was clean and beds were comfy. The shower was a bit tight. Lots of traffice noise in our room, didnt work well for a light sleeper like me. work i realised i forgot the license at the front desk after 4 days since returning to SF and had to call them to check & organise for a self addressed parcel to get it picked up, would have been nice if they had reminded me during checkout or called after.

Rooms were so spacious and clean. Location is great, it was quiet but close to main roads. Loved it.

Our stay was great. The bedding was very nice. The towels as well, especially the washcloths. They were very nice. I did ask for extra pillows but not available. So I used the pool towels to add volume. Also the indoor pool was great as well . Overall our stay was amazing. Close to nice restaurants and of course the aquarium. Great price.

I stayed in the 3 bed family room with my daughter and 3 grandsons. Big room with a big bathroom. It is clean and modern. Great location, near a grocery store, liquor store and a few restaurants. The heated pool is inside a pergola type structure, protected and private. Friendly office staff. I would stay here again.

It was a nice stay. Nothing spectacular about it. The front desk are young people who are on their cell phones at check in and check out. Not very informative or friendly. If you pick pay at property they still charge your card a few days before check in.

The beds were extremely uncomfortable and cheap feeling. The parking was also extremely unorganized. The staff however was very kind upon check-in.

Room was very clean and daily housekeeping thorough. Housekeeping staff very pleasant. Desk staff helpful and pleasant. Only downside was the coffee in the office—didn’t taste like coffee at all.

We got there late because someone broke into the car, but even do we got pass midnight someone was there waiting for us so friendly, I like we definitely coming back I just wish a little more parking lot .

We were at Monterey Jazz and this was such a convenient place to stay as it is right across from the Monterey Fairgrounds. It was comfortable, clean, and we could park there all day while at the festival.

My wife and I celebrating our 5 year anniversary at the same place we stayed on our honeymoon, and the hotel looks even cleaner than the last time we stayed. And the rooms were beyond tidy.

We stayed one night in a family suite which consisted of 2 queen beds in one room and one queen bed in the other. Each room had its own TV and air conditioning unit.
The bedroom was up-to-date, clean and quiet!!

Stay was great and comfortable. I took off one star due to housekeeping taking our shower curtain and did not replace it. We didn’t notice till the next morning when we were getting ready. I had to call front desk to ask for the a shower curtain. Motel is close to everything. Lots of choices for places to eat close by.

We have stayed at El Castell hotel many times over the years. We have now been reserving the handicap room and believe me the single room has a wonderful walk in shower with a fold down bench. The handheld shower sprayer is very convenient. The double room has a tub and a pull down bench. Both rooms have plenty of space in the bathroom and the room is large enough for a wheelchair or walker. The price is very good for the area and we feel safe here. There is a Dennys across the street and a Dollar Tree store a block away, just incase you forgot a few items. I highly recommend staying here. Oh and the yellow roses in front of 102 are worth stopping and smelling.

When checking in the receptionist was very stand-offish, dry, and had no customer service skills, the cabinet with the ice box and microwave was set too close to the bathroom which made it difficult for ADA Accessibility, and the mirror in the bathroom was set to high which added to the difficulty for my wife to see herself from her wheelchair.

Good basic motel, was in a convenient location for driving to Monterey and Carmel. Check in was easy and same with check out. Only complaint was the bath tub couldn’t actually be used as a tub as the drain stop wouldn’t work which was a bummer.

Cleanliness is first and foremost in any stay, and El Castell was spot on there. Room was clean. I didn't notice any dirt in any crevices. Towels and linens were crisp and white. We used the pool, which was mostly clean - not murky, moldy or grimy. However, there was a slight collection of grit on the bottom of the pool.
The hotel was comfortable I would stay here again.
That being said, phone service is spotty in the area, and the Wifi was weak. TV has a few channels, and it took a few tries to get streaming channels because of the Internet. Again, I wasn't expecting a resort experience, so I was plenty satisfied. Service people that we encountered were all very nice.

Expedia had this property rated as a 9. It is not even close.
The exterior of the property is pretty run down. We would have never stayed here if we saw it is person first. There is an adult movie shop two doors down. On a positive note, once you were inside the room was clean and nice.
Maid service opened our door at 8:15 in the morning.

When we arrived we were notified that there was no longer breakfast even the website said yes there was. When we go there no parking available besides one place that I was uncomfortable parking in under the back room I was afraid to be blocked on and sure enough I was when we went to leave in the morning we had to wait 35 minutes for some one to move a workers truck. I'm the room there was not enough towels for the 6 guest we had booked a room with 3 queen beds. The pool was on for the kids to swim in but i would not call it a heated pool.

Location is fine and room is clean. But they absolutely need black out blinds. Right now light pours into the room early and it is near impossible to sleep, even with a sleep mask. They need to replace the front window slats which let in a ton of light. And the rear window has zero light blocking.
