Lovely spacious room with beautiful decor, very comfortable with large bathroom. Setting on the beach is ideal, quiet and peaceful. perfect sunset viewing spot! I will definitely be back.

I stayed for 4 nights and could not have been happier. My bungalow was so comfortable with close access to the pool and the ocean. The staff made me feel so welcome, cannot wait to go back!

Had such a great time at this resort. The hotel was super walkable and convenient. The outdoor bathrooms were a little odd for us, but still nice. Staff was super friendly and helpful.

On a beautiful beach , restaurant on the beach , entrance messy and not clean not much of a

Wonderful place to stay. My bungalow was fabulous with a great view and comfortable bed. What really stands out is the staff. They are so friendly and kind.

The staff was super friendly when we needed help getting a taxi to go outside of town. There was also a situation where a drunk man followed us and the hotel staff helped protect us. They also provided great recommendations and the complimentary breakfast and welcome beverage was a perk. The bed was also extremely comfortable! Thank you!

Wonderful stay began terribly & ended badly too;but everything in between was great.Beginning:we were alarmed to read more than 1 review re guests had booked&paid more for "luxury pool front bungalow" but they were not given one of the two pool front bungalows.We had paid more for this too..We arrived & were taken to our bungalow:NOT pool front; instead one near the back of the hotel,with road behind. We refused it but the staff said nothing they could do. After standing our ground getting nowhere,we demanded they gave us the room we had paid for or money back:6 nights £300+per night.More staff got involved,phone calls made;40 minutes later the occupants of our correct bungalow had been moved out, & we had correct luxury pool front room.To be fair, staff were apologetic & when we said this happens a lot doesn't it? they looked embarrassed & said the owners & their daughter do the bookings & they are not on site.Anyway after that GREAT food (including 7 vegan options for dinner),very good service,especially from Jimmy in charge of the restaurant, on the beach. Breakfast watching the waves & sunsets in the evening were incredible too. Breakfast menu was good;as we are vegans chef was happy to help with our vegan requests.Only criticism is only 1 drink included with breakfast is stingy. Our room was lovely, clean, pool was refreshing, day-beds comfy &available.Location perfect.Owners got our leaving date wrong,no apology. Due to owners errors have to mark down to 4 stars.

The property and our actual bungalow was eclectic, artistic and beautiful. The resort is located very central, and walkable to so many restaurants and shops. This property is on the beach and the outdoor restaurant has swinging chairs, benches, gazebos under romantic lighting, as a DJ plays soothing music in the evening. We stayed in Bungalow 8 which was large, decorated uniquely with some Asian decor. We loved it !

This was my second time staying at this property. The first time was great however this stay was tainted. When we arrived I placed an envelope containing 1300 US dollars in the safe (the safe had a lock with a key not a pin pad). On the 3rd day I went to get cash out of the safe for a private boat tour and noticed over 400 dollars was missing. The safe was kept locked at all times when we were not in the room. I reported it to management and we were compensated with a complimentary boat tour.
The property is nice and in a great location but be cautious with putting valuables (money, jewelry, etc..) in the safe. I would not stay at this property again.

Ocho Artisan Bungalows is a lovely property with great bungalows and a beautiful pool, restaurant and beach. Those who work there are very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner was the best that we experienced in Costa Rica. The surrounding area of Tamarindo is quite loud with pulsing music late into the night that you can hear loudly in your room. We also had a small amount of money taken from our room which we reported to the front office. Hopefully, they do address that issue as there are so many lovely people who work there.

The beachfront location of our bungalow could not be beat! We enjoyed listening to and watching the antics of a group of Howler Monkeys in the trees above our bungalow. The restaurant food was very good. We enjoyed every meal we had there and also liked the walkability to many other beachfront restaurants. The bungalow itself has a unique Bohemian feel. We also enjoyed the nightly music and fire shows. As far as the service,Miguel, Miya, Sebastian and Jose were top notch. I'm sure I'm forgetting someone but the vibe here is very warm and welcoming. I wish we could've stayed longer!

The family and I just stayed here over Christmas. The whole staff was amazing and very attentive to our needs. Property is like Glamping... indoor/ outdoor vibe.. very cool and special. Magical Location. THANK YOU OCHO TEAM! We will be back. The Thornton Clan from Idaho.

Unique property in the area right on the beach. It's a busy beach but long and beautiful. The property feels secluded.The bungalows were very private and beautifully decorated. They are a bit rustic but feel luxurious with welcomed air conditioning. The staff were helpful in booking excursions. The breakfast included was generous.
There was an on site DJ but we did not have the experience during our stay. I would recommend a stay here.

We absolutely loved our stay at Ocho! While the photos made the property seem larger and more luxurious than it actually was, that was only a small hiccup in our stay. And I only mention it because if you are very picky and want sumptuous luxury, Tamarindo isn't the place for you. I wanted to get an authentic feel for the country and Ocho didn't disappoint. The bungalow that we stayed in was quaint and cozy as well as very clean.
The staff is phenomenal. Miguel, the GM is an absolute superstar. He made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and continued to be an absolutely perfect host for our entire stay.
Ocho Artisan Bungalows gives you the feeling that you are in the jungle with nature while actually being in town. We walked the beach and soaked up the sun for days. Amazing!!!!
Miguel organized a seafood feast for my birthday and the chef deserves a five star review. We never had a bad meal at Ocho. It is undoubtedly the best place to stay on the Beach in Tamarindo...maybe the best place in Tamarindo period!
We are back in Canada missing our new friends at Ocho and really missing the stunning sun and sand. Thanks to those at Ocho for making our stay memorable and very enjoyable.

Positives about Ocho Artisian Bungalows…The staff was great, very friendly and helpful!
The place is a very good location in Tamarindo on the beach.
Negatives…The bungalow we stayed in could use some work. There was no hot water when we got there, they did fix it the next day but the shower was only a dribble to get hot water the whole time. The AC went out the next night, they did fix it and it worked great after.
The food was only ok and there are better restaurants walking distance.
There was music with bass pumping close by a couple of nights until 5:30am!! We didn’t need a quiet getaway but that was ridiculous.
We did not think Ocho Artisian Bungalow is worth the money we paid to stay here. That said, it did look like they were doing some renovations so hopefully they realize there is some upkeep to do.

The staff is wonderful, we ended up getting in late in the evening but they were there to greet us with warm smiles. Our bungalow was wonderful and the resort was gorgeous and intimate. So many dining options right on the beach (including the onsite restaurant). We would love to visit again.

The property looks like something out of a dream or fairytale, the bungalows are extremely beautiful, the entire place gives a feeling of peace and zen, I highly recommend, oh and the Staff is super friendly and welcoming!

Miguel and the team at Ocho made our vacation extra special. While the property is amazing, and the location perfect, it's the service from the wonderful staff that will have us returning each year. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

We had not been to Tamarindo so were unaware of how busy it would be. We chose this place because it seemed to be away from the crowds. The bungalow was great and well equipped. It could use some updated items and maintenance but it was rustic and we were prepared. The door did not shut completely, the lights were bright at night and the music was shaking until at least 2 am each morning and we were further away from the on sight beach club. The food was really great and the setting was beautiful. Everyone that worked there was extra nice and accommodating. If you prefer quiet, this is not it. And, it says adults only but there were kids in the pool. Overall, it was good for a couple of nights. We had booked 7 nights but only stayed 4 due to the noise and lights.

I will never stay anywhere else! The staff, management and owner were amazing. It’s the perfect mix of quiet seclusion yet still has a fun up beat dinning/bar area. The best food and drinks on the beach! ❤️❤️

Bungalow 1 is very nice. Clean, & new.
There was no fridge or refreshments/snacks as stated on website. No welcome drink either.
The thing that will prevent us from returning, is the loud, non stop music ALL NIGHT. Unfortunately we didn’t know there are music festivals etc at various times of the year.
It is a VERY busy area, in my opinion more geared towards people who want to party all night and all day on the beach. Perfect location for those folks. Unfortunately, we won’t be back.

This is a wonderful unique getaway. Loved our bungalow and the access to the OCHO Beach Club. Great food, great music, great beach and the staff was exceptional.

There are few hotels that manage to feel like home after a short stay. Ocho Artisan Bungalows accomplished that practically immediately. The staff, from the manager, Miguel, encompassing everyone who works on the site, including the contractors who were working on upgrades to the property, were so kind and friendly that we felt like family almost immediately.
The restaurant and bar served delicious cocktails and meals for a very reasonable price. The menu had a large variety and food was always cooked to order. Our room was always cleaned spotlessly. The bed was comfortable, the kitchenette more than adequate and the bathroom had ample hot water for the shower with plenty of quality toiletries.
Good hotels provide lodgings as I just described. Excellent hotels provide great lodging with obvious care, attention to small details, and a friendly manner. Every single person working at Ocho Artisan Bungalows enjoys making their guests feel appreciated and at home. It is clear in the manner with which the staff approaches their jobs that it is not only an income for them, but a way of life. This is no act. Everyone's work is accompanied with such a positive attitude and attentive demeanor that comes so naturally it appears effortless. It is not easy to achieve such excellence, and it was obvious to me that the entire team working at this hotel deserves a standing ovation.
We will definitely be staying here again and I certainly hope the opportunity arises soon!

This place is absolutely gorgeous, and the staff was friendly and fantastic, but the view, and food is 2nd to none, I would definitely go there EVERY TIME I went to Costa Rica.

So many things are wrong with this place. I do not, or should say can not review the staff. We checked in and immediately checked out. This hotel is located next to the public entrance to the beach and more so, next to the hotels own beach bar. So if you want all of the drinkers, and partyers this might be the place for you. We were in the only room with a beach view( barely) but it did come with a wonderful of the beach bar. Also located basically in the bar so if you plan to not hear loud music constantly, this is not your spot. At the price for the room and the fact it is called a "botique" hotel, I would expect much more. Make sure you are not looking to relax if you pick this hotel. But, if you want a spot right in the middle of it all, and on the beach, they have that.

Unit 4 has a family of racoons that run all over the roof from 12am until 3 or 4am. When they finally moved us (three days later) to unit 7 we saw mice on two occasion in the room.
Lastly, someone (a maid perhaps) stole a personal item of mine. I had purchased a large sarong as a souvenir, it was drying on the headboard of the bed. I spoke to the managers several times and was told it was "unrecoverable"
