Changed accommodation at the very last minute which was a far less standard than we had booked. It was much further away and we had to carry luggage across the city. The apartment was very dusty, the shelves were hanging off the walls, the TV had been ripped away from the wall, patio doors broken, lamps not working. We received a far less standard than what we had booked.The communal hallway nd stairs were filthy and smelt disgusting. The elevator was broken. However, the new apartment was very spacious.

No washing up liquid. But a threat of 50 Euro fine for Leaving unwashed dishes

The furniture was still dirty and old the tv was not working the walls so dirty bathrooms are not working properly doesn’t have the same discretion I have too many pictures 😥

This was honestly the worst experience we could have imaged. We arrived to our apartment, half an hour after the 4pm check in deadline to find it in an unimaginable state. Rubbish everywhere, beds in disarray - bathroom in disgusting condition. It was obvious it hadn’t been cleaned. The apartment also did not at all match the photos, which is why we booked in the first place as it looked very nice! The contact number proposed also did not work to get hold of the agent of Smartflats Ghent is this a fake company?!?!! My family and I had to make other arrangements as it was impossible to stay here. A very stressful experience! I have immediately logged a complaint and will be demanding a refund. This property should NOT be listed on your website!

Probably the worst accommodation i have stayed in. There have been a lot of poor reviews since i booked and I can see why.
I booked this due to the location (which was great) but rentals like this should not be allowed.
What i got was not what was advertised
Safety - no buttom on top floor to call the lift. It is broken.
Safety - lighting in public stairwells and halls flickered on and off. Very hazardous on narrow stairs.
The floors and mirrors were filthy, glass dining table full of handprints/marks, lighting fixture in bedroom exposed, brown stains on bedroom walls and lots of scuffs everywhere, mould on shower, cracked showee screen, no handsoap or toiletries (as advertised, just some gel on the wall), limited loo roll, no string/pulley on the blind,
No duvet/blanket for the pull out couch. When i asked for some i was told no. Luckily there was a trolley full of sheets downstairs so the couch-user had to cover himself with loads of sheets. At least i knew the bedclothes were clean.
I'm embarrassed i stayed in this flat, these types of rentals shoulder be allowed.

This property is a scam. Dirty and in poor conditions.. no amenities and microwave oven which should have been included as stated in its description. TV and windows are broken. Loads of dead insects in the flat.
It is not cheap but I receive 0 service. Connected with their CS but they asked me to buy those myself as they are out of stock.
I dont understand why it could describe itself as a four star property… if I were hotels.com I would of taking it offshelf.

Our stay at this hotel in Ghent was extremely disappointing. The room lacked basic amenities such as toiletries, tissue paper, and a dust bin. Despite being listed, there was no microwave. The door was hard to open and the cleanliness was subpar. Windows were broken, and exposed wires posed a safety hazard. We left after one night. This hotel should not be renting rooms in such a state. Its central location is the only positive aspect. AVOID STAYING HERE

Location excellent as very near centre. Would have been good to know about the 6 flights of stairs in the property description. A number of minor issues which we notified straight away - to be fair we asked for nobody to fix them while we were there but I took photos on arrival so we wouldn't be accused of anything.

The state of the appartment is terrible, completely run down. Dirty, no blankets on the bed at arrival. The beds are old Ikea beds, no support you could feel the wooden support of the frame and my ass was almost touching the ground. High price for what it is, pictures on Hotels.com look very nice, but reality is completely the opposite. The support team is outsourced to a company somewhere in a third world country where, people just say sorry all the time, but can't do anything. This accomodation should be banned from Hotels.com. I am using Hotels.com for years now and have never been disappointed like this. We left the appartment after 2 hours of frustation. What was supposed to be a nice family trip turned out to be a disaster. I would like to have my money and reward night back.

They switched flats from the flat they confirmed in my booking to another flat altogether at another address and which did not look like the photos on which I based my choice.
The wifi did not work and 18 hours after they acknowledged this no action had been taken.
The lights in the bathroom did not work.
The lift in the building did not work (flat on second floor)
The plug hole in the shower was blocked making the shower unusable without flooding the flat.
There were scratches and soil marks on the walls.
A total catastrophe from start to finish. So bad I left and booked another hotel.

Living space and bedrooms are separated by a large hallway which was a great way to have privacy.

The apartment had great "potential". Wonderful location, french windows opening to little balconies on 2 sides of living room, spacious. However it needed to be completely renovated - black mold around shower, loud creaky doors, worn out wood flooring, furniture old and grubby, no usable pots and pans, no coffee maker or kettle, no salt, oil, coffee, soap, dish soap, paper towels or basics that other apartments provide, no microwave, no mirrors except one in the smelly bathroom, in bedroom one curtain broken and one blind broken, no fans (the neighborhood is busy so too bright/noisy at night to keep windows open), instructions not provided for wifi or thermostat, even the apartment number was not provided in the initial directions. This apartment needs to be completely renovated with new everything but we got the impression the management do not care.

Such a shame - really spoiled our two night family trip (6m + 6yo) to Ghent
Arrived at the flat at 16:00 - door codes that were sent by Smartflats were incorrect - ones given by Hotels.com in a separate email were.
Flat was nicely furnished, spacious, and well-situated. Was reasonably clean but the floors needed more attention as well as behind furniture.
Dropped off our bags and headed out to explore the city and returned at around 20:00 with two tired children.
Boiler was not working and had an error code but due to the time we filled the bath up with kettles and went to sleep.
Reported the issue at 07:56 the following morning and a response was sent at 08:04 saying it had been handed over to the facilities team! Great I thought, very efficient and would be fixed on return. Got back at around 15:00 with housekeeping attended but boiler still broken. No calls, no texts, no emails! Sent another email asking for an update but no response. Went out for dinner and again returned hopeful - but nothing. Checked out the day after expecting a courtesy call or SOMETHING from Smartflats - alas nothing. Kettles for the kids but myself and the wife remained unshowered.
Incredibly poor customer service - certainly would not be looking to use them again. Will be submitting a formal complaint - maybe they will respond??

Though the location is good, and the apartment spacious, the overall condition is pretty poor. There is no form of soundproofing, so every passing tram and drunk can be heard very clearly. There are missing window covers in the bathroom, the sink was blocked and the light in the toilet didn't work (so it was pitch black if you closed the door). The kitchen is passable at best, but lacks a microwave. The beds are rock hard. This was not at all worth the money we paid and I would recommend anyone visiting Ghent to choose different accomodations than these apartments.

Since there's no reception, we had to contact owner for instructions on how to enter the accommodation. Unfortunately, the overall checkin experience was very bad with no customer service in mind whatsoever. In addition, expect to communicate in French or in some form of very bad english. The apartment was ok but missing basic information (had to call for wifi code, ...) and doesn't look at all at how it's being advertised. Location is close to shopping street and very noisy early morning (but to be expected). Overall, I wouldn't recommend the place, mainly because of the very bad checkin experience with the owner of the property.
