Lovely hotel in the centre of the market place. Staff were very friendly.

Excellent stay and great food.

The main areas appeared clean, however, the bedroom blinds were shabby and in poor condition, it would look much better if they were replaced. some items were not cleaned i.e. the toilet roll holders, floor corners, reverse of the doors, lack of all important attention to detail, the dining room at the rear was the same, the wooden railings on the walls and the radiator tops were dusty and had not been hot cloth wiped for some time as there was build up of spalsh marks and dust. The wall light shades were in need of a good wash and the salt & pepper cruets were filthy, as I said just these attention to details would be beneficial.

The Golden Fleece was a one night stay in room 25 of Mews which had no natural light, that said the room was very comfortable. The dining experience was very good and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed in the Dick Turpin suite - a split room with stairs up to the bathroom and shower room A lovely place to stay but you must be fit as a lot of stairs & no lift! I would say the Golden Fleece is the best hotel in THIRSK & the classiest.

Enjoyed the stay - hotel and staff were really good.

This is a nice hotel right in the middle of town. It is about two minutes from the James Herriot house and all the shops and restaurants. The only problem is there is no lift (elevator) and you will have to carry your own bags up the steep stairs to your room. (There are no rooms on the ground floor). The staff does not volunteer to help you with your bags, so be prepared to lug them up yourself. The breakfast was very nice (and they have a vegan option), plus there is a bar and restaurant on the premises. The parking is directly behind the property in a private lot. The staff were very friendly.

Check in staff not too helpful, not interested that iwas a lillle early basically told me to come back later there were no rooms available, without checking any recored. When i actually returned to check in the chap was pretty helpful but pressures selling of evening meal put me off dining in, On checking out reception male refused to issue me a receipt. when checking expedia no ability to get an invoice. Generally not a good front desk experience

Lovely position right on the market square. Had a lovely spacious room with a padded baywindow seat. Free parking was a real bonus

The hotel was good overall. 2 things that let it down, First was the service provided by the staff, they would benefit from some good customer service training. The second was the cost and portion size of the food in the restaurant. Although the quality of the food was good the cost for the size of the portion was too high.

We were in the lovely Turbin suite. Very comf!

Excellent in every way

The room was comfy and clean. I would have preferred an earlier breakfast as I was there for work.

Having supported Coaching Inns Group over many years this is the worst room we have ever stayed in. It is so small and inadequate and not comfortable at all. There is no room to place anything - in fact the Robert’s radio has to be placed on the floor. The window coverings are broken. The bathroom is very very small and quite inadequate. It is a good job we are quite fit and able to manoeuvre sufficiently to be able to sit on the toilet!! No, we haven’t complained - nothing could be done about the shortcomings immediately. This needs a long term sorting. It will be a long time before we look again at a stay with Coaching Inn Group. Perhaps some sort of recognition for guests that stay loyal to the brand may help in the long term, but I am no expert…

We’ve been to this hotel for three years now but this year we was a bit disappointed with the housekeeping, they was cobwebs one was hanging from one of the small lights in the ceiling over our bed, and ledges and skirting boards needed dusting, also needed to ask for extra sugar and milk to make hot drinks, don’t get me wrong the hotel is nice but the housekeeping needs to be sorted.

Gorgeous hotel in Thirsk. Very convenient for exploring nearby market towns. Would stay here again

Staff were extremely helpful and friendly

Firstly, the staff are really nice. Our room was ok but the bathroom was very dated and in need of improvement. If you book, I would ring the hotel to secure one of their recently upgraded rooms (we were informed to do this on our next visit).

A good night sleep in the heart of Thirsk

Everything about the Golden Fleece is excellent ,staff ,food ,rooms everything always stay here when in the area

Although we only chose a standard room we were surprised just how very small it was for the cost. It was akin to prices in London and especially since we had paid extra for our Labrador too we were tripping over each other and in the bathroom you actually had your arm touching the sink while you were at the toilet! That’s how small it was! We spent the whole evening having to shuffle out of each other’s way! Not ideal! Other than that the room was clean and placed in a news extension over the car park so not in the actual hotel at all. Not unpleasant at all but not what we were expecting! For the money spent you could get a lot more for your money elsewhere I feel.

Everything was good except the haul up three flights of stairs with no suitcases and no help

Lovely hotel lovely food, but we were in room 2 so we heard a lot of noise from reception and bar area and squeaky floor boards from room above , we was woken everytime upstairs moved about, I know it’s a very old hotel but the squeaky floors really need to be sorted , otherwise lovely hotel
