Frienly staff

Love being so close to Lake Superior.

No elevator and we had to carry our heavy bags up two flights of stairs. As senior citizens with a bad back, this should of been told to us before booking.

This Ramada property is located directly on the Portage channel, just a bit away from the historic lift bridge that connects Houghton and Hancock (and the Keweenaw Peninsula). There is a wooden "boardwalk" in front of and extending along the Portage. Just off the parking area is access to the Poynter Trail for running, walking, and biking. The staff is professional and personable. They offered great recommendations for dining options that reflect the locale.

Excellent stay and would stay again! Close to many attractions, food, and shopping. Breakfast and beverages great choices and convenient. Also food/beverages available at their Mart anytime. Employees friendly and helpful.

Great central location with easy access to both Houghton and Hancock. Staff are amazing.

This is a fantastic hotel. The rooms are pretty updated, wifi is fast, Sauna is great, has a hot tub that I would like hotter...but that is personal preference, pool itself is clean and large, wish it was deeper [4ft] but hey....another preference. The breakfast had Jimmy Dean sandwhiches, waffle maker, bagles amd such, pastries, hard boiled eggs, cereal, coffee, lots of different teas, juices, apple cider, hot chocolate. Rooms were very clean! Staff was helpful with regards to the area and very nice.

The property was fine, however it did not have an elevator to the second floor. Makes it a bit inconvenient with suit cases

Good time over all

Our room was had been smoked in, and smelled badly of cigarette smoke. We immediately talked to the nice fellow at the front desk. He could only offer us a King (parking lot side, or a Queen waterfront, neither being the King waterfront we paid for). He offered air freshener spray. He tried to help. Fortunately, we had a window that we could open, and in a few hours, the smoke smell was a lot less. We were disappointed at our lack of options, or that the hotel could even somehow refund a portion of our cost due to the smell and inconvenience. We were told this was because we booked with "an outside party" - ie: Hotels.com. The bed was uncomfortable too - very hard.

Best sauna, best bed and pillow comfort. Location is central to everything, beautiful views. Will stay again for certain!

We were there for a work trip and had some issues with our work van. They were wonderful and so accomodating helping us and letting us leave some items there until they could be picked up by the towing company.

This a great hotel. I go to a number of hotels in this price range around the country for work and this one surpasses the others. This is because of simple things: bed has a wood headboard which both looks better and is cleanlier, the bottom of the bed looks sharp with the indented metal frame and no bedskirt (which is always scary/gross looking), there are glass mugs & cups with the paper covering along with paper cups, the mirror has lighting all around, and I love when there is a table and chairs (instead of a gross upholstery chair like other hotels have). Only 2 things of note is it would be nice to have a full body length mirror, but the lighted bathroom mirror is large so it mostly works and to put refillable shampoo & conditioner bottles on the walls of the shower to reduce waste.

The hotel was clean. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was good. There is no elevator. Every time you wanted to go into the pool room, you needed to have someone from the front desk unlock it. There is no restaurant on site but plenty of choices within a couple miles or less.

The front desk staff was friendly and accommodating, they kindly changed our room to first floor, which had been booked through a service. Many times motels won't do that when you don't book direct as the best rooms are reserved for guests paying full price. The room was clean and an array of toiletry items were provided. One thing I would have liked is if there would have been a selection of different degrees of softness wth the pillows. The breakfast was adequate with some choices for gluten free, like boiled eggs, yogurt, fresh fruit. It was snowing and blowing when we arrived and I was a little concerned about how the condition of the parking lot would be as we were leaving before sunrise. It was plowed out early and all we had to do was clean off the car and go. Also, the entrance to the rooms was through the lobby which to me is very convenient. I would be happy to stay at this motel the next time I am in the area.

Rooms were clean and comfortable.
