Beach access the best from this location, AC worked like a champ, rooms a little old but can’t ask for everything perfect

The resort is very comfortable and all employees are helpful and nice.

The property in general is okay. I upgraded to a Suite which was very nice, perfect for three adults. Large room with a living room area, TV, eating table, king bed and they added a rollaway. Room was clean and in great location. Beach is pretty with palm trees and lounge chairs. Pool was nice. Swim up bar not connected to pool so no swim up. Buffets ran out of food constantly and took a while to refill food, seem short of kitchen personnel. Asian Restaurant also buffet style kept running out of food while only one guy cooking. Although we enjoyed our stay don’t think I would be back to this one.

Great location with plenty of food, fun activities, a walk to other Riu and a walk to souvenirs. Staff was excellent!

Espectacular every thinks

We really enjoyed our stay at Riu Yucatan. There are lots of activities to participate in both day and night. The rooms were clean and cool. The staff was fantastic!

There were a few things that will keep me from going back to this place. The slamming doors from our neighbors. The doors had nothing to keep them from SLAMMING shut. You could see the outside light coming In all around the door. No elevators with my request to being on the first floor being dismissed. It was a painful trip back to my room and kept me from leaving my room as often as I would have liked too.i even skipped a couple of meals. I called the front desk to see if they could make an acceptation and they very bluntly denied . The main pool always seemed to be cloudy with a slight odor to it. We did not utilize the pool. Some of the staff seemed as though they were very annoyed to be asked questions. With that being said, the food was excellent except at the steakhouse. We could not chew up the steak and the service was terrible. We left and went to the buffet. Room was very clean and housekeeping staff were super nice. Lastly…we had gotten $850 resort credit when we booked and nothing to use it on or any guidance to use it. Asked the front desk how to use it and they said it’s on our next stay and look on the app. So I call click bait on the promotion.

Needs updating food ok staff were good and friendly wish they had filled the fridge up daily and left coffee daily .

I have never felt disappointed with a stay to the point where I felt the need to leave a negative review but I wouldn’t want anyone else to waste their money the way I felt like I did. I stayed with my husband and 17 year old daughter at this property. It is hard to tell from the property photos but there is not a door to the shower area. This left us having to have my husband or daughter facing the wall while they took turns showering. When I asked if there was a different room option I was given an extra towel to hang on the glass shower door and was told I should’ve paid closer attention to the photos. Almost everything in the room was not working properly. Water was brown, shower drain clogged, fan would not turn on, plugs broken. There were several men openly selling drugs where there was no doubt that hotel staff were aware. I watched one transaction take place within 10 feet of where another guests toddler was playing making safety a concern in my opinion.

Nice and people friendly.

Staff was very helpful with arrival and my room was ready. Lounges under the cabana was gone and with towels being reserved at 6am. Food was okay. Beach was very nice and clean with water activities for kids. I would definitely go back but would request a lower level room for convenience.

I had such an an amazing time at Riu Yucatan! The room was comfortable and clean, the staff was super friendly, helpful and hard working. The food was delicious and the property was incredibly beautiful. The entertainment and amenities were outstanding! Thank you!

I really enjoyed the nightly Entertainment and the pool foam party. The lobby and common areas were nice, however, there is no air conditioning or elevators. My room was a nice distance from the lobby and restaurants, so I definitely did alot of walking during my stay which was fine. I really didn’t care for the food at the Italian restaurant, and the steak restaurant was my fave. The breakfast and dinner buffets were just okay. The beach and pool were nice but a bit crowded for me so I opted to take the 15 min ride to Maroma Beach which is beautiful, clean and quiet. All in all I enjoyed RIU Yucatan. It was great for the price but I think next time I’d stay at RIU Palace Riviera Maya again. The Palace is a bit pricier but well worth it!!!

I like the areas distribution and cleaning staff smiles. We didn't like the hotel quality, food quality, poor show. Not value for the price. Very cheap and bad alcohol options.

Staff was very friendly. Food was just alright, nothing to write home about. The speciality restaurants are horrible, very poor in selection, taste and ambience, the service was good though. Bathrooms in the room were weird, very small shower with the water temp always changing , and privacy for changing. Beds killed my back.

Buffet was the same every day. The staff works hard but I don’t think they can keep up with the amount of people on this property. The front desk experience was the worst! We waited for hours for our room whereas my brother checked in right away. I will not be back.

Great beach, but need more beach umbrellas and small fountains to wash off sand from the feet. Huge plus of this hotel that you don’t need reservations to the restaurants, no wait line. Buffet is very good, restaurants are very good , except Mexican. Shows are professional. Big disadvantage : guests from Riu Tequila are using the beach and buffet for lunch, so it is becoming VERY crowded. That is why hotel should put more sun umbrellas around the beach and pool areas. But otherwise definitely would come back.

Staff was very friendly and accommodating

For our family of 6 adults and 4 kids its 5th visit to this resort. Always smooth check-in and check-out without lines. Excellent Service: super friendly and helpful staff members who go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. Clean and Comfortable Rooms. Delicious, fresh food with huge variety of choices.

Just returned from a 5 night stay at the Riu Yucatan. Over all the place was great. Staff was friendly, grounds were kept up and beautiful. Drinks were good for being an all inclusive and the beach was beautiful. They gave us a free up grade to a room closer to the beach and pool. While moving our belongings to the new room they accidentally dropped a bottle of alcohol we had purchased at the airport. The staff was very apologetic and wanted to compensate us. They offered us a bottle of alcohol from the bar but we declined, they ended up giving us two vouchers for free massages. The down side of a great vacation was the pools were dirty they could def been cleaned better and/or throughout the day. Around the edges of the pools there was a greenish foam and different things floating. The food was okay but not great. Pretty much the same food everyday and if you’re hungry late night there are no options.

Quality of employees

All staffers were wonderful-from the wait staff, reception,and cleaners. The big plus was the monkeys, coati, and agouti. There was nothing we didn’t like about our stay, although I did need to kill a cockroach just as we were packing to leave.

I would like more privacy in the bathroom when we are with the family.

If your looking for a peaceful/fun property Riu never disappoints

I was nervous to go to Mexico with my kids.I’ve never felt more secure and safe at riu yucatan, which is a 3 min walk to the beach! Everyone is on point here. Hard working, welcoming, friendly, amazing cooks and food lots of options. In fact we ate the buffet almost everyday it was so good. Beach is beautiful and groomed Qmorning, rooms cleaned restocked when you want. There were monkeys close up and coatis (they look like mix of a cat raccoon lemur tail, and agoutis (they look like a giant guinea pig/rat) it was fun seeing them all!! You can see these walking towards the beach through the mini jungle. Kids loved them. Age 14,11.The grounds were beautiful with flowers, clean pools. even though it was spring break it was still great with the kids. and for littles! The fun events the employees put on at the pools workout, dances, pool volley, beach volley, a neon party on Fridays and a foam pool party on another day. we didn’t wanna go out and explore because it was so nice. we did do a 4 hour fishing trip, and a cenotes trip. Always book through the hotel that way the employees can get commission because they work extremely hard at all of their jobs there. (That’s my take^) You don’t have to have dinner reservations first come first serve. There’s 24 hr snackbar. Fun shows at night, Michael Jackson, karaoke, live bands,singers, dancers and access to all rius 6 min walk to gaited community mini shopping mall. Put towels out early 630-7am.Riu Yucatan exceeded my expectations!
