I travel through this area every year and look for a clean, safe and comfortable hotel room right off the highway. Tried Microtel this time and never again. Arrived around 8pm and was greeted by a woman who told us to wait for the front desk worker who was in a guest’s room “trying to fix the TV.” We waited 10 minutes for him to return. I would have cancelled and driven down the street if the reservation wasn’t non-refundable. Finally got keys and went to room. Bath tub had hairs in it and toilet had a dirty ring in the bowl. Long skinny room with nice kitchenette but tv was in front of sofa so couldn’t watch tv from bed. Upholstered sofa had multiple stains and tv remote would turn on tv and change volume but channel up and down button didn’t work. We didn’t bother calling for help on TV. AC was loud so at 3am I tried turning it off and opening window but we looked right out over the KwikTrip who had loud music playing at the gas pumps all night.
Breakfast looked decent (cereal, muffins, waffle machine and omelette machine) but seeing the dirty room discouraged me from eating their food so I walked next door to KwikTrip for coffee and a muffin. Next trip I’ll be back at the Rice Lake Best Western Inn or try another of the multiple options.

It was a business trip. The Microtel was clean but itis not located in an easy accessible area.

Didn’t like checking in. Elderly people want to be able to talk in person not a screen with a face. Technology is getting too difficult for the Elderly.

We were very satisfied with everything about this property. Close to stores and restaurants and accessible to the highway. Very nicely lit parking lot. Staff was very accomodating.

At first glance, the hotel is welcoming. The room layout is very convenient. The sitting area with TV separate from the sleeping area is a great idea. The use of the room divider as a little kitchen is genius. The wardrobe, shelving, narrow desk, well place lighting, drawers, and window seat were very useful and creative. The bed was comfortable and the pillow selection adequate. It is easy to envision a long term stay in this efficiently laid out room. However, upon inspection... The couch was heavily stained, the tub had soap scum making it slippery, the bathroom faucet needs deep cleaning in crevices, and the toilet paper dispenser is too far from the low toilet. I am not completely comfortable with leaving my room keys on an unattended desk per the instructions on the recepticle. Still, I would stay there again.

The breakfast has a system of make-your-own omelets that was good, but the coffee was terrible and the TV was tuned to Fox News. Our view was of the Kwik Trip station and Menards sign. The TV in our room had no local channels and was very confusing to select a station. Room is very small.

We rented 2 rooms. One was a bit musty. The other smelled like a strong combination of mold and possibly urine. Continental breakfast would have been adequate but they were out of a several key items not the least of which was cheese and ham.

They did not know how to split the bill at check in. Never have had this issue before. Morning reception person has terrible customer service. Heard her being rude to a couple checking in and very loud rude comments throughout her morning. Breakfast is fine if you are out there at 6:30 but by 8 every thing is gone and they don’t put more out. Don’t bother to ask! Room is clean, bed is comfy. Vey damp in the room. Had to keep shoes on and run heat to keep moisture down. Property is clean with a great location

This hotel was run down. You can hear everything. Listened to doors banging and someone coughing all night. Air/heat unit didn’t work right making it very humid in the room. Continental breakfast was good.

For the price we paid ($250 per night) we expected a clean and updated hotel room. What we got was a room that was dirty and very outdated. The couch was so dirty we did not want to sit on it. The "suite" had a 24" tv in the 'living area (dirty couch mentioned above) but no tv in the bedroom area and the tv did not have a swing wall mount to enable watching tv while in bed. The group we were with had a broken window and wires hanging down from the tv area that appeared to just be extra wiring.
Both bathrooms were dirty. Our toilet looked like it had not been cleaned in a while.
The photo on the site is very deceiving. I would not recommend this hotel.

Only negative is they only had a couple of outlets in the room. Absolutely no USB! They didn’t even have a clock or lamp with built in USB. My side of bed had no outlet at all.
They really need to upgrade.

Although the room was clean the quality of this hotel has gone down over the years. We typically stay here once a year for an event in town, this will be our last stay. Be mindful that when booking the room, the pictures of the room do not match up to the room you get. The hotel failed to put salt on the side walks after an ice storm came through town while we were there. The employees chose to smoke right outside the main entrance, and the room directly above us had a squeaky bed which we had to listen to our first night.

We were disappointed in our stay. Very noisy fan running all night, one tv didn't work correctly with remote, tub drain didn't drain..... we brought it up with front desk and they said they're werent any fans that were running??? The rest of it wasnt of her concern either.

First the price was high for what we got. We had gotten a handicap room for my fragile elderly mother who's almost 92. The beds were so high she wasn't able to get into them and took a fall trying to get into bed at 4:30 am after using the bathroom. Yes, she did hurt herself and bled after banging her arm on the stand between the beds and had gotten bruising. If she was in a wheelchair she wouldn't have been able to get into the bed becauseof the height. The shower is handicap but no where to put your shampoo and soap. There was a dirty washcloth hanging on the shower curtain and the sink drain is very slow. Our room number was 110. We could hear and feel someone running around in the room above us. There is no where to put a curling iron on when in use in the bathroom. It wasn't a good stay at all.
