A quick stay at an affordable price in a part of the U.S. that is expensive for lodging. Parking was reasonable, too. We had an early flight out of Burbank.
The room was comfortable, but pretty crowded with large furniture. There was a carpet cleaner in our room which was an interesting place to store it. We didn’t mind the stairs, but they’re a full 2 flights up and pretty steep.
There are several dining options. We really enjoyed eating at the Salt and Olive across the street. Service was outstanding and the food was good.

I like coming here reminds me of home. There are plenty of walking places to eat.

The room was very clean, well decorated and the king size bed very fluffy and comfortable.
The only thing that was not mentioned anywhere is that the hotel reception is about 35 steps up and there is no elevator. My 90 year old husband had to climb all these steps several times. What if he couldn’t?
Also the view from the hotel window was the wall of the adjacent building that was so close to the hotel that if you tried to see the sky it would be impossible.

I would not say I was very impressed by this hotel. It had no parking in the building, tho they offered a parking tag that let you use nearby public parking. There's two long sets of stairs from either entrance into the hotel, and no elevator or luggage elevator. This means you get to drag ALL your heavy things up stairs, both in and out. It also means this hotel is not accessible for people with disabilities. I only had to deal with the former, but it did suck. This was a very large mark down for me. The hotel looks very dated, and the staff seemed bored. In general, I would say it's worth it's price.
However, let me end by praising a few things...
The room was lovely and very comfortable, and had a big closet to use. Despite its aged look, there is a charm to the place I appreciated, and they offer a nice water machine in the lobby. Finally it's very conveniently located in the middle of Glendale next to all kinds of great restaurants, movie places, shopping, the Galleria, and the Americana, all just a short walk away. It makes up it's value in the little inconveniences with the price and a fantastic location that cannot be beat.

Overall the hotel was fine. Near lots of restaurants and shopping. The only negative things were the parking and the shower mat. The parking is pretty far from the property and the shower mat was all moldy and should be thrown away and replaced. Also no elevator so be pre prepared to carry bags up and down the stairs.

i’ve been Staying at Hotel Brownwood since 2013 it was really good and clean at the time but it’s really gotton musty and rundown. The room I stayed at smelt like sewer. Towels and washrangs dingy and thin. I slid in the shower, no tub matt. No extra roll of TP. No trash can in room. TV issues and lighting horrible. I started noticing the past2 years that it was beginning to look rundown. Was once a charming hotel I use to love staying at but no longer. I come out to LA once a year and usually stay 2-3 days at Brand Hotel but next year a new hotel. Sorry Brandwood. I’ll gladly return once you update and clean up the place.

Great stay, clean rooms however not for anyone who may need an elevator or assistance with luggage. None available.

No elevator available. And No one to help with the bags. Specially rooms on second floor and only tiny stair cases to use to reach the front desk and the rooms

Loved it- very charming, quiet. Great location for dining and even a massage next door. Appreciate the parking option, wish it has been listed in my pre arrival so I could have gotten it first.

Decent place for the price. Not many amenities but clean and convenient to Universal Studios and also local dining and shopping. Front desk staff not super friendly and barely available. Room AC quite loud all night. Off site parking great for eight dollars per night.

Pretty Lovely and good. Highly would recommend this Hotel above all the others in the area of Los Angeles.

At 7:00 am, room 105 loses all sense of quiet. The room seems to be under a storage room or who knows what but at 7:00 sharp there was so much noise coming from upstairs that we couldn’t sleep at all. Steps, sounds of broomsticks, more steps and apparently, not a floor mat to muffle all the noise. Everything else was fine, you get what you paid for but, one goes to a hotel to rest and that, we didn’t have there.

The front desk staff were super friendly. Helped me get a better rate than this app! The Hotel is clean and quiet. Love how close dining options are too. I will definitely book this hotel again.

Boutique Hotel in the heart of Glendale food district and very close to major shopping. The staff and management were very accomodating and we had a relaxing and comfortable stay. Would definitely consider staying here on our next trip.

Amazing location, however there is no elevator and you need to carry your luggage by stairs which is inconvenient.

Really nice character to this hotel. Front desk staff were great. Area is fantastic and very safe, tons of places to eat and get coffee/food. I'm a little allergic to older hotel carpeting and the room was partly carpeted which triggered mine :)
Otherwise, great hotel!

Parking is far away from the hotel and no elevator and especially when they put you on the third floor but the location is very nice.

Location was perfect.l and close to restaurants and a convention I was attending. The building itself is old and run down a bit. But overall it did the job and I was happy.

I was in a dire need of a steamer for my events, and this room was equipped with a full size garment steamer!! Rustic and comfy. It was also nice to have the helpful and courteous staff available at all times!

This stay was a nightmare. From having to carry my own heavy luggage up and down three flights of narrow stairs when I was not feeling well, to the inconvenient parking, to the ungracious staff. I asked if there was a vending machine and was told to "help yourself to any snacks in your room." It sounded like they were complimentary. The first one tasted old, so we checked and they had all expired months before. We threw the rest away when we left so the next guest wouldn't get expired snacks. When we left, the hotel charged us an exorbitant sum of money for the expired snacks we were told to enjoy, anf couldn't eat. Rooms tiny and crowded and there is no streaming on tv. Poor signage and took three calls for them to finally name a landmark so we could find its hole-in-the-wall location. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but we were traveling to visit my dying father, and it added so much stress and unpleasantness to an already difficult trip thst I will never go back. I called them and told them about the mix-up with the snacks and they still charged me. It was not a good experience.

This is a cool old hotel in a great Glendale location - but...there were many issues with the room. The blinds were broken so it was impossible to block the light in the morning. The bed was an old school box spring mattress that had outlived its usefulness. The TV remotes were unusable because the TV blocked the signal to the cable box. And the room was overly scented. Also, there are a lot of stairs to access the lobby, and no elevator that I saw. The parking is a block away and felt a little sketchy walking through the back alley at night.

This hotel was the worst. First, it can only be accessed via extremely steep stairs. No one is available to help with the luggage. The parking lot is a block away. So you have to drag your luggage from there to an alley entrance and up steep, narrow stairs. Thankfully our room was on the first floor. Not once did anyone offer to help with the luggage. The room was uncomfortably small, and the window looked out onto a brick wall. The bathroom was dirty. At about midnight water started pouring from the overhead light fixture in the bathroom and flooding our room. We called the front desk and they told us to move to another room. No one offered to assist us, no one apologized. When we checked out there was no mention of regret or apology for the flooding incident. I highly recommend that anyone considering staying here is prepared to schlep their luggage down a busy street and up at least one steep flight of stairs with no assistance. If I had been traveling alone I would simply have had to find somewhere else to stay, which actually would have been better.

The bathroom smell not clean and the pillows smell like a head. Was not that bad but they can do it better on cleaness.
Looks clean, but does not feel like that.
For the price, you can get better options on the area.

This is a grand old property that has lots of character. While it isn't at all ADA accessible, we were certainly able to get our steps in while we were there!!
The staff was just OK. Our check in was meh. No greeting, smile or endearment. All the things they teach you in customer service 101 was missing in our 7 minutes encounter with the guy at the front desk.
As our stay continued, the other front desk people were much more engaging and, well enthusiastic. It's amazing how much nicer a place looks when someone wishes you a nice and gives you a smile.

Although the location is good, the hotel don’t have elevator or any lift to help you get to the lobby or your room. Definitely not for seniors.

I understand that it is a renovated old hotel so having no elevator was not an issue they were very up front about it however, they say they have parking and what they don't tell you is the parking is like two and a half blocks away through an alleyway and makes it very hard to get to.

Bed comfortable. Room dark & musty. We left a day early even tho they didn’t offer refund
