DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!! It is closed, and according to shopkeepers nearby has been for some time. I had a confirmed, guaranteed reservation for the night of April 25, 2022 and went there to discover it wasn't open and was boarded up. I couldn't tell if it was closed permanently, temporarily, or perhaps in the process of an extended reservation. But they should be eliminated from taking reservations on Hotels.com

Its closed! Under construction, why is this property listed!!!

The property was closed upon arrival. We had to book a different hotel on the spot which cost us 3x the amount. Please credit my credit card asap! I have tried to reach out to someone since arriving to a closed hotel with no response!

After booking the hotel we arrived to find it closed for remodeling, and looked like it hadn't been open for months. Don't book it!

I was looking forward to stay at this location, as I have seen the property when at its restaurant, however, the location has been closed for more than a year according to the locals. It is very disappointing to book a place and arrive and find out it is closed. My husband and I have to find accommodations. Please take this property out of your list. As i mentioned before we were not the first ones to have this horrible experience.

The hotel is closed for renovation but accepted my reservation. Nothing on Expedia even hints that the hotel is closed. We showed up with our bags in hand to check in and the hotel was boarded up.

The hotel is under construction and it has apparently been that way for over two years!! Awesome flying across the country and down to Mexico to get to a hotel with caution tape around it…

Great location. Lots of old world charm in a low key and relaxing setting.

We had a really good meal and drinks at the Tropicana restaurant, swam in the pool and then walked a couple blocks to the town square.

Fantastic Hotel in the heart of San Jose.Very intimate and quiet.Restaurant was really good as well and all the Hotel Team Members were extremely nice and accommodating especially the lady at the front desk that let me borrow her IPhone charger twice.

A nice little spot for a stay before of ater a flight

We had zero hot water the entire time. This made it quite difficult to wash the mold out of our basal cavities that we acquired from the visible mold on the ceiling over our bed in room 203.

Cozy place with great location and the restaurant serves crazy portions of good food.

The staff was wonderful. The beds were comfortable. The food was great. The only thing we didn’t like was where our room was - at the top of the stairs, so you could hear very loudly hear people bringing their suitcases down the hall and then down the stairs.

Very dated hotel. Clean but so old it feels unsanitary
Staff are polite but ineffective. The hotel was nearly empty but they placed a new guest with a large dog right next door to us. I quickly went to the desk and they admitted it was a mistake and promised to move them but never did. I gave up after three requests.
Hotels dot com charged me $132 per night when the hotel gave me an invoice for$90 per night including taxes. That is a hefty profit. This will be the last time I use this service.

This hotel is all about the location! It is right in the heart of San Jose del Cabo and the artisan area. And still just a easy 30 minute walk to a beautiful beach. It could use some new furniture, but was clean and the staff were really nice. The owner was there and was nice and very helpful.

I met Michael Medjuck while at the pool, he was so friendly and accommodating. We have stayed here no less than 6 times. It is in the heart of the city and their beautiful restaurant has the best brunch in town. We love Anna our server. Very quaint boutique hotel for people who like culture and unique charm

Such a beautiful gem tucked away in San Jose, its like a little bit of paradise with all the amenities out the front door. You can walk to access pretty much anything you desire from here, or stay on site and eat at one of the beat restaurants San Jose has to offer.

Liked the location, center of old town district, walking distance to everywhere, nice relaxing small hotel with a great staff. Excellent food in restaurant on location.

This is a gem in the Center of San Jose del Cabo, and the first nice Hotel in the area. The center courtyard with the Pool is quiet with old established vegetation giving you the vibe of old Mexico. The Location is great for restaurants, tequila tasting and shopping.

Awesome, hidden gem, right in the middle of downtown San Jose. Safe parking and great spot to walk to everything (main plaza, shops, restaurants). Great rooms and very relaxing, charming pool area.

The hotel was older but neat and clean . It's right in the middle of town so the art walk and shopping were right out the front entrance. The restaurant was excellent. We stayed here before moving on to our high end time share hotel. We liked the Tropicana better.

We loved this hotel, the front staff was so kind and extremely helpful. The room really surprised too with it's charm, cleanliness and location. The hotel is literally a stone's throw from the main square but it's set back and is super quiet. The pool wasn't heated and that was a little disappointing as we wanted to swim. Just too cold for these brave souls..brrr Excellent value for the money and would return again.

We arrived a day early and the front desk found a room for us. We were very thankful.

Excellent location and relaxing poolside vibe. Fairly loud in the rooms so it could be challenging for light sleepers.

This is a great little inn and restaurant. Terrific location to see San José arts, with less crowds. Loved ending my trip with a massage by the pool.

This charming place is a slice of the old world with some modern amenities like ac, cable, and a pool. Loved the decor and the staff and every guest was friendly. Our only regret was we only spent 1 night here

They are just the nicest people, so friendly and helpful. We were there as hurricane Bud was hovering, so they trekked through the mud and rain to bring our vehicle to the front of the hotel, so our luggage and selves could be loaded without getting wet.
The location of the premises is so handy, just walk out of the lovely restaurant and you are in the Main Street. Highly recommend this hotel, thanks Mike and staff

We moved to this hotel away from one that was under construction because it is quiet here. Although they had damage here from a hurricane in September they are operating well and the restaurant is excellent.

This is a pretty hotel with a nice pool and great location if you want to be in the historic town. However, our room smelled terribly of mildew. The hotel is located very close to the sewage treatment plant, and in the heat, the smell was at times overwhelming. The staff was indifferent -- not rude - just indifferent. For the price we expected a more comfortable, update facility.

The hotel was charming. It was hard to find the parking, specially in the dark. The restaurant was over-prized.

The only complaint is that our room, I believe it was 206, was a bit musty. We enjoyed Paco, the parrot, a lot and stopped and talked to him whenever we passed by.

My wife and I used The Tropicana as a one night stopover on the way to meet friends at a private residence. It offered everything we could have hoped for and more. Well maintained property located close to all the activity in San Jose. We had dinner at the restaurant the night we arrived and then explored the town a bit. The live music during dinner was fantastic and we would return for that as a stand-alone. The breakfast the next day was perhaps the best I've ever had!
Although we were pampered the remainder of the week at an oceanfront estate, my wife and I would have enjoyed a few more days at The Tropicana and in San Jose. There are so many shops, restaurants and bars within close walking distance that we felt like we missed out on some great fun.

Tranquil Hotel, the pool and courtyard have a tropical feel to them. Walking distance to all the popular restaurants and shops. Dinner at the Tropicana Restaurant was excellent. The best chile relleno I ever had.

no hassles, best air conditioned restaurant in downtown.
